Throwback Thursday: Tommy Polley

I feel as though you have to look at it like this. Tommy hasn't talked about this stuff in a long time and probably felt like it was time for the people to know the truth.
Maybe.
We are only getting one side from his testimony and people (all people, imo) tend to eliminate negatives about memories to justify their past. It's better to complain to a psychiatrist and remember the good things in public. This is not lying and makes people want to listen to you. After this interview, I could care less about Tommy Polley's past with the Rams. There is already too much negativity to deal with in life to add perceived Tommy Polly wrongs without balancing it out...just my 2 Cents.

Why the Raiders are worse off with Jon Gruden in charge

you made some great points (thank you for being realistic) ... not to mention, the success of the running back that Cable's OL in seattle blocked for ... I forgot what team that RB is on now ...does anyone remember?

I don't know why people get so wound up against the Raiders.

The Rams will defeat them in pre-season, they will defeat them in the regular season, and they will defeat them in the post-season.

going to be a fun season to be watching both the Rams and Raiders.... I'm glad this thread was started.

Feb 3, 2019 here we come.

Gruden isn't a bad coach. Is he worth that contract? Time will tell, but drawing assumptions will get nowhere. He was the hottest name in coaching for nearly a decade for a reason though, and Lombardi trophy winning coaches don't come open every year (I don't care if Dungy 'built" that team).

'Phoneliness'

A part of me wishes that we didn't have cell phones. Another part loves it because it is a source of knowledge and convenience. Have a question? Look it up! Recognise an actor, but can't place him? Read his filmography. Have odd ailments? Research them to see if they could be serious. It's great for shopping and EBay too.

Socially? Texting is just a convenient way to communicate. Fakebook is lazy entertainment. I don't think that I have phoneliness, but my step son does IMO. Most of our youths today have it IMO.

True, I just bought some computer stuff and I was able to track the packages and interact with folks pretty quickly.

The two transactions that took forever were those that ONLY relied on email.

man... email used to feel like the future.

now it feels like that crappy loaner car that makes you question your willingness to continue driving...

The NFL in California in 2018: The Best Year Ever?

Rams owner Stan Kroenke is spearheading the project, with the stadium itself a joint venture between the two teams—the Rams and Chargers will operate under equivalent leases, and the Chargers will receive 18.75% of the LASED non-football event revenue.

The Chargers are getting 18.75% of the event revenue streams?

WTF??????????

How did he pull that off??????????

Anyone have any specifics because that is a HUGE amount of money going into Spanos pockets.

This is the first time I have heard this little nugget.

Holy crap, team value aside since that is meaningless because both of these guys are not selling, that is a significant amount of money.

How fast is Todd Gurley?

I also think his size benefits him because the pads don't slow him down as much as other guys that are smaller.
\

You are 100% correct..........the weight of the helmet and all the other equipment is about 20 pounds. If you have significant lower body strength like Gurley it won't slow you down as much as someone more slender.

Dudes that skip leg day can't keep up.

Rams Waive RB Larry Rose, DB Chucky Williams

UDFA SS Chucky Williams was more of a in the box safety type & not what Wade normally prefers.

I was expecting that some of the large number of UDFA safeties that the Rams signed earlier after the draft would begin to be released after the signing of Nate Holley on 6-7-18. Rams signed him to a 3 yr contract & in 2021 he will be only a RFA! I expect this safety to make Bones very happy early in TC & pre season. This 5-11 209 lbs FS/SS can bring the hit with his tackle. NH was a play-maker & leader of Kent State defense... .registering more than 100 tackles in each of his last three years, including a career-best 139 as a junior. He averaged a nation-leading 8.9 solo tackles per game.

I would also believe Wade & his DB coach saw some excellent stuff from Nate Holley during the Mandatory mini-camp: June 12-14 this past week. (Afolabi Laguda/ Steven Parker/ Ramon Richards)
https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2018/...-roster-preview-ramon-richards-oklahoma-state

Rams have 3 safeties from last seasons 53 master roster entering Free Agency in March of next yr. & with major concerns over the Rams salary cap salary cap in 2019 the safety unit is a area to look for some relief. Thus some of these new 2018 arrivals stand a very good chance to bump off some of the more expensive ones i.e.(Lamarcus Joyner/ Blake Countess/ Isaiah Johnson/ Marqui Christian) in order to secure the services (new $$$$ contracts) for players i.e Brandin Cooks/ Aaron Donald/ Marcus Peters/ Micheal Brockers/ Todd Gurley/ Rodger Saffold/ Rob Havenstein/ Jamon Brown .

Lions waive Greg Robinson/Signed by Browns

You mean the 7-9 bs. 9-7 would have prolonger the suffering. Perhaps 4-12 was the necessary kill shot to mercifully put us out of our misery.

Best thing that happened was the team quit on Fisher !! 4-12 was huge. Then again The Rams had to quality QB’s on the roster & trade a boat load of picks when they had a chance to be a top team.

I’m not saying things are bad & I don’t like where The Rams are at right now, or how they got here.

McVay & Goff are the future & would not trade it for a 4-12 season with Robinson & Fisher gone.

Every NFL Team's Biggest Mistake of the Past Decade

See, that’s the thing about the Fisher hire decision, Merlin.

The ripple effects were practically endless, including the successive OC hires.

The hire resulted in so many other fubar side effects, the sum total of which are virtually incalculable.

Lack of successive QB development.
Lack of OL improvement.
A pathetic WR corps every year.
Back to back worst O’s in the league.
The mind blowing Tavon extension.
He stuck with coaches that were regressing (Boudreau).
Hell, he managed to make BOTH Gurley and Goff look like busts in ‘16, no small feat. Let that sink in for just a minute. Lol.

Yeah, Fisher raised us from 2-14 to 7-9 in his first season, but that was his high water mark. That was his ceiling and he crippled improvement opportunities thereafter. Hard to top that as an ongoing 5 year “mistake”.

I stand by my statement. Fisher was at the root of many, many of the Rams woes for 5 freaking years. No other mistake really comes close in the last 10 years when total effects are considered.
That was my point earlier. Fisher himself wasn't a bad hire, but the effects that his hire had on the team were terrible.

However, he wasn't hired until 2012. The Spags hire forced us into a position to hire Fisher and the team was worse in almost every way under him, so he was probably the worst decision in 10 years. He ruined us so bad that Fisher seemed like a good idea.
