How would you defend the Rams Offense?

Because most teams don't have the personnel to do it. You have to be able to rush and put pressure on the QB with 4 and be able to cover the WR's. A lot of teams can do one, but not the other.
They don't have the personnel to do it because they're still worried about stopping the run. There's plenty of guys who can't hold up against the run out there but are good enough in pass coverage. The reason those guys don't play on Sunday is because they can't stop the run. Because that's still a thing.

Haha. I got one of those from Zig Ziglar seminar. I was in sales at age 21. I tried it out as a close on a sales pitch. Handed the guy the round to it. He looked at me like "wtf is this?". Didn't really go to well.

yeah, I have a whiteboard that I use to keep track of stuff I have to do, job estimates, invoices, contracts, ordering materials for jobs etc and one list I have a circle drawn with "TUIT" for stuff that isnt pressing but has to be done. ( stuff like changing IRA contributions, ordering business cards, printer ink blah blah blah)

Since I hired the wife as office manager, she is in charge of the list stuff gets done faster, but the TUIT stuff is all mine LOL

Rams Offered Aggressive Package for Mack!

I don't see how you can say that. Snead trades up and down in the draft to get the best value possible and acquire more picks, signs free agents that don't affect our compensatory picks, lets players go as FAs who bring us compensatory picks, etc... The draft picks we chose last year, this year and next year make it possible to sign players like Donald, Gurley, Hav, Cooks to long term deals and bring in players like Suh and Talib on short term contracts.

I pretty much agree with this, the focus of my comment was on the fact that Snead is willing to give up draft picks in trades for talent and is doing this at a far greater rate than his peers. Talib, as you mentioned was traded for with draft pick(s) - a lower one, yes.

The lower value placed on draft picks I'm referring to is as compared to proven talent with existing contracts or renegotiated contracts. Whereas, teams have traditionally put a higher stock in picks - let's say premium (1s and 2s) and the cap friendly contracts they provide. Most likely Snead and Co. have made this calculation due to Stan's massive amounts of operating cash which does not give the team more cap space, but more cap flexibility than most and the new CBA - which greatly extends the amount of time rookies take to become effective due to less practice reps.

I do feel like you didn't even read the word "compensatory picks" in my statement though. Weird.

FiveThirtyEight gives Rams 39% chance to make playoffs, less than Seattle

So I’m confused, if they take their last rating the previous year and regress backwards how does Seattle end up higher than us? Sounds like they’re eating Seattle was better than us to end last season which again doesn’t make sense. There are multiple teams rated higher than us that this applies to just adding to the confusion.
Yeah..., I don’t think you are. I think they may be however.

What are the chances the Niners make a move for Bell?

Jerick McKinnon contract gives 49ers plenty of options after year one

Fooch’s update: We cleared up the numbers

The San Francisco 49ers signed Jerick McKinnon to a four-year contract worth up to $36.9 million, but in reality it is along the lines of a one-year deal with the team having options after 2018. NFL reporter Aaron Wilson posted the salary and bonus details, which includes an option bonus for 2021.

Jerrick McKinnon 49ers deal: $36.9M, $14.3M gtd, $2M bonus, salaries $4.2M, $3.7M, $6.5M, $6.9M; $5.5M roster bonus 2018
has a $6.9M option bonus for 2021 league year to be exercised prior to end of 2020 league year

NFL reporter Ben Volin offered his own thoughts, describing the deal as effectively one year with $11.7 million in year one cash. His 2019 salary is guaranteed for injury, and becomes fully guaranteed if he is on the roster next spring, which is par for the course for many 49ers contracts.

✔@BenVolin

Jerrick McKinnon really only got one year fully guaranted from the 49ers, but he'll get $11.7m guaranteed this year, with a chance to make $12m. Big time payout or him

4:09 PM - Mar 14, 2018

McKinnon is making some solid money with a chance to earn even bigger money if he proves effective in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. At the same time, if he struggles, the 49ers will have gambled big in 2018, but really not gambled much of anything beyond that.

As we’ve said before, Paraag strikes again. If we don’t see any improvement from McKinnon it will be wasted money, but given what Kyle Shanahan and Bobby Turner have done in the past with a host of running backs, it is hard not to be at least a little excited about this addition. It’s not a cheap move by any means, but it’s certainly not the end of the world as some would have thought when the first news came out.

From the looks of the deal Whiners can get out of the contract without much trouble.

So Bell to Whiners could happen. Stay tuned. The Whiners would have to at least match Gurley's contract and lose draft pick (s).

Rams Game by Game 2018 Predictions

I am trying to slow my roll a little and prepare myself for scenarios that include things not going our way....

On paper, I see a team capable of achieving greatness. 14-2 would not surprise me at all.
But I think the odds are that at some point this team will meet some real adversity and the perfect laid plans get tossed out the window. I also think that we have the talent and coaching to find a way to get through it and I dont believe the NFC West will be too difficult to win. I expect the other 3 nfcw teams to be struggling much more than some of the heads do.
So in the end, I expect the Rams to survive their adversity, get a little luck and close out a weak division and get in the playoffs and click at the right time to win it all.

See, I am tempering my expectations! 11 - 5 and a Lombardi.

Rams Power Rankings: Week 1

Why do these hacks snuggle the nut-sack of the Cheatriots? Soooo lazy. They aren't even that talented of a team. They have zero receivers this year. Zero. Nil.

Also, someone actually rated us as low as 12th???
Because the Pats are freaking gifted five wins a year (at Miami seems to give them trouble) with the garbage division they are in.
Two rookie QBs in the division will be starting soon enough.
It's a joke.

Sam Bradford Embraces Another Chance To Start

Sam Bradford looked youthful as he strolled to a press conference podium at the Cardinals’ practice facility on Wednesday afternoon.

The veteran quarterback – who is only 30, after all, despite his years in the league -- had a freshly shorn haircut and wore an amenable smile.

As the regular season approaches, he has good reason to flash those pearly whites.

Bradford suffered through another knee ailment with the Vikings last year – one that robbed him of all but six quarters on the field – and in the midst of it, he questioned whether his playing career might be over.

The Cardinals gave him that answer, signing Bradford in free agency and keeping him locked in as the starter after selecting Josh Rosen with the No. 10 overall pick in the draft. Bradford will make his debut on Sunday afternoon against the Redskins, hoping to revitalize his career while also appreciating that he made it back at all.

“At this point,” Bradford said, “you just realize how special each game is.”

Bradford has experienced some of the highest highs in football, winning the Heisman Trophy and becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. He has also dealt with the lowest of the lows, missing the majority of three seasons because of knee injuries, including a pair of torn ACLs.

Bradford played all 16 games only twice in his first eight seasons. He has missed 48 games in his career, while playing in 80.

The Cardinals were abundantly cautious with him early, as Bradford was more observer than active participant in offseason work. The activity level increased in training camp and he made it through the preseason unscathed.

“I know that right now (the knee) does feel as good as it’s felt in a long time,” Bradford said. “I’ve done everything in my power to put myself in this position. If something happens and I get injured, or if something happens and it doesn’t hold up, I’m going to hold my head high knowing that I put my body and myself in the best position to succeed. I think that’s all you can do.”

Bradford has not reached his potential in the NFL because of injuries, but the natural talent is still evident. Practice squad quarterback Charles Kanoff said Bradford would go entire days this offseason without throwing an incomplete pass.

While Bradford only played one full game last season, it was enough to capture Washington coach Jay Gruden’s attention. Bradford threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns in Minnesota’s season-opening win over the Saints.

“If you protect Sam Bradford and you give him time to throw, he’s as good as anybody, really,” Gruden said Wednesday in a conference call with Arizona reporters.

The Cardinals have designed an offense that allows Bradford to get the ball out of his hand quickly. When he does need more time, the offensive line must keep him upright.

“We’re the only position where our responsibility is to keep another human being healthy,” guard Justin Pugh said. “We’re looking forward to going out there and doing our job and protecting Sam, as well as all the other guys that are out there.”

Bradford showed off his arm talent in the preseason and in training camp, finding wide receivers with precision. While the injury concern is well founded, coach Steve Wilks is feeling optimistic about his quarterback.

“He’s at a great place right now,” Wilks said.

Bradford is his ninth season, and with a career passer rating of 85.1, maybe he’s a finished product. Then again, maybe there is more.

Bradford set a single-season completion record in 2016 with the Vikings and seemed at ease during training camp in yet another new offense. Like everyone else in the locker room, Pugh would love to see what Bradford is capable of with a full year of health.

“He’s a guy that’s been through a lot of trials and tribulations,” Pugh said. “You always cheer for those guys to come back and play well. Let’s get Sam to come back and show everyone how talented and how good of a player he is. I would love to be a part of that ride. We’re looking forward to doing that with him.”

A step back on offense, 2 steps forward on defense?

One would think it might be that way. I look at it as something completely different. The rest of the league now has all of that film on the offense. Now you taper up different plays out of the "repeated" stuff from last year. If we are executing, the only thing holding us back will be the health of our better players. McVay has been very good at keeping ahead of the curve. I think he can remain there (barring major injury....) for another year.

SI.com: 2018 - Playoff Picks, Super Bowl LIII Champion, Award Winners

Lot of this comes from media disrespect re Goff and McVay, both treated as flashes in the pan. Believe me, the playoff loss is justification for these clowns.

How I see it. A coach and QB on the rise. Goff has played 1 full year in the league and 1 under McVay? Yup, guy has peaked and is now destined to regress because film was watched around the league. And McVay? you think he was spending all off season maintaining the status quo and patting himself on the back? Both these guys are hard workers and dollars to donuts they were ticked off after the playoff game.

As an aside, Brees is 100 years old. Not everyone is going to do Tom Brady things at age 40. Minnesota, I agree is overrated. Philly may be underrated. A few had them not in the playoffs? okay, sure.

Count Down - Jersey #5

I was at that Rams at Cardinals game. Was a great game to watch. Foles had 3 TDs and was Gurley's first breakout game with almost 150 yards rushing.
