A few things that really impressed from the Seahawk game...

Gotta mention both Goff and Gurley here. When things were going sideways with the injuries, ref calls, freak plays, crowd noise, headset issues, etc, these 2 captains kept their cool and just kept doing their respective things. That’s leadership, y’all. Not a tangible thing that one can see on replay, yet it’s the glue that kept the O focused when they were being mightily stressed. We are sooooo lucky to have both of these guys.

This First!

It felt like a loss

I don't know what you watched, but I saw a Seattle team desperate to end our streak. I saw a team on a two game win streak; inside one of the loudest places to play. We humiliated them last year. But we aren't the same team and neither are they.

We lost two receivers to add to a list of injured players; our kicker, pro bowl Punt retuner, and starting cornerback. We weren't as sharp, we looked like crap. But despite all of that, we won. And we did it under our own power.

Its only going to get tougher from here. Tom Brady once said it's hard to win games, and he's not lying. We won ugly, but we still won. Sean McVay decided to take matters into his own hands and trust his offensive line. And it paid off. Goff said they are building something special and I agree. That was adversity, and we came out on top.

I feel more comfortable keeping a streak alive that way, than blowing teams out. Because now we've proven, we can come from behind and still wax that ass. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
By the way. Goff lead them on a 4th quarter come from behind win. Just saying. The rams answered back every time. That is clutch people.

The Stars Are Lining Up For The Rams

Home field advantage is definitely a goal.

Not because our homefield is such an advantage but because we don't want to go places with big homefield gains.

New Orleans was 7-1 last year at home (like 41 and 20 or something at home over the last 8 ish years)

Rodgers went like 5 years without losing a game at home..

and so on and son.

So lets get that home field ad...
Don’t want the Rams to have to play in a dome in the playoffs (Minnesota, New Orleans) because of the noise factor. Or go to the East Coast because of the time change, or Philly because of rabid fans, or GB Detroit or Chicago because of the weather... so...

We can win road games but better to finish first in the conference. Would like to see what atmosphere true LA pro football fans can bring to the Colosseum.

Soooooooo.... our headsets were cutting out?

I asked someone about that and he stated they changed the rule during the offseason that as long as the defender doesn't wrap his left hand around the receiver, then it is not a PI if the intent of the defender was going after the ball.

I can't remember if the defender wrapped his left hand around Gurley or just put his left hand on Gurley's back while going for the ball. Definite contact before the ball but I do not know enough about this new rule to judge one way or the other.
Yes, the rule was changed, but...it was wrapped, and he pushed. That non-call, IMO gave the Seahags the notion that things were on their side. Remember, it was 3 and out, and then we blocked a punt, that TD early in the game might have stopped them, before they started, but it certainly gave them the balls to cheat all they wanted to.

Josh Reynolds

He made two catches on perfectly thrown balls but missed a seal block on first and goal which cost Gurley 3 yards. It was nice to see him have success but he's not a redzone player, at least not in the slot.

That was a bad missed block. He also ran for 10 yards on a Jet Sweep IIRC. He filled and made some easier catches with one missed block. Hard to tell what the Rams have in him by this game.

SNF: Cowboys at Texans

Cracks forming in Big D.

Jerry Jones undercuts Jason Garrett's decision to have Cowboys punt in overtime

Facing a fourth-and-1 with less than six minutes left in overtime and the ball on the Houston Texans' 42-yard-line, Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett decided to punt.

And his boss was not exactly thrilled with that decision.

"We were being outplayed," owner Jerry Jones told reporters after the Cowboys' 19-16 loss Sunday night. "It's time for risks at that particular time."

Jones added that he wasn't second-guessing Garrett's judgement, though his comments indicated otherwise. The decision ended up being pivotal for Dallas, as the Texans marched downfield on the ensuing drive and kicked the game-winning field goal.

In his postgame news conference, Garrett explained that the fourth-and-1 was a "long one (yard)" and he wanted to pin the Texans back against their goal line.

"Obviously you would like a chance to go for it on fourth-and-1," running back Ezekiel Elliott told reporters, "but I don't know if that was the best decision right there."

Gritty win in a type of game they may have lost last year

That was a great hustle play on his part. Good call.

One play didn't make the defense move yesterday though. When Austin ran it he moved 1 and sometimes 2 players.

In order for that to routinely get big gains they need Cooks to run it and get the ball one or two times a game. That will open up big plays for Gurley, like we saw last year. The TD catch that iced the game versus the Cowboys is a perfect example.

It's something that a speed demon has to do. There has to be the fear that if the guy gets the corner it's a big play or he could go all the way. Woods isn't that guy. Cooks is.

As well as the O is playing I can't complain too much though. It was just an observation.
My only disagreement is that as much as teams had to respect it from TA, if they don’t get Woods at the LOS, he is a better and tougher open field runner than TA. The way we’re doing it is that defenses can’t just shadow the motion. They HAVE to stick to their assignments and that play becomes more successful no matter who is running it. I also think Woods is more physically able to take the hard hits that will happen at the LOS whereas Cooks is faster but slighter.

Rams defeat Seahawks; game recaps

Rams players convinced Sean McVay to go for it on risky fourth down call

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay won a lot of plaudits for boldly going for it on 4th and 1 from their own 42 yard line with 1:39 left in the game, converting successfully and clinching a win. However, if you ask him, his players deserve all the credit.

McVay originally had his punt team on the field, but during a Seattle Seahawks timeout, McVay admitted his players successfully lobbied him into making the call.

“Initially we talked about punting it,” McVay said Sunday, via Myles Simmons of the team’s official website. “You look at the belief that they had and how much they wanted to do and because of their belief, it made me feel confident — it made us as a coaching staff feel confident to make that decision.”

The Rams did not let McVay down, as quarterback Jared Goff kept the ball and got the necessary yardage for the first down.

The call was far from a no-brainer. Had the Rams failed, Seattle would have gotten the ball less than ten yards from field goal range, which could have set them up for a game-winning field goal try down 33-31.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll likely deserves a shoutout too. Without him calling timeout, the Rams would have had no chance to reconsider, and the punt team would have simply done their job and put the onus on the Los Angeles defense with a minute to go.
