Wentz NOT Playing - Official

So now it’s 4 consecutive seasons (including the only year he started at D2) that Wentz has endured a fairly significant injury

This ridiculous debate is over, Rams got it right on 65% (and that’s being conservative) of this board got it wrong, just the facts boys

@jrry32 among a few others knew all along

Outcoached?

Sorry if this has already been posted. Don't know if I agree with all of it, but insightful nonetheless.

I really enjoyed listening to that piece and now have more respect for McVay's play-calling that I did at first. As the guy said, Jared forced several throws, for whatever reason, and it cost us. As someone who coached high school football for 18 years, I can tell you that you learn a lot more from a loss from a win. I'm sure Jared will go back and watch this and come out looking to redeem himself this week. Better to take that loss in December than in January when it's do or die.

New Christmas shirt.

A little background on the cat. She was put down a little over a year ago, about a year and a half ago. She was just shy of 19, by a couple of weeks. Her name was Java. She was found behind a garage with her mother and the rest of the litter. A kind person took them in and let them get healthy and grow up a bit before taking them to the local shelter.

We had just lost a cat briefly (long story she was able to get home after being essentially kidnapped) and so were looking for another. We went to the shelter and saw Java sleeping in litter with litter clumped in her claws so we got her out of there ASAP. I was pissed that a shelter would ignore animals like that, it was an unpleasant thing to see that place.

Anyway she was very feral and only allowed us to pet her, and for years would tense up if you had both hands on her. She was no lap cat until she was elderly and frail and wanted body heat LOL.

She took down a mallard once and was dragging it into the house, fortunately we were able to get to her and get her to let it go or it would have been a disaster. It's a good thing we were looking out the window to see her dragging it across the lawn. Snakes, frogs, mice, birds you name it she killed it. Once we were sitting outside in the evening and it was still light out. The cats loved that property because it was heavily wooded and lots of hunting to do. One of the cats actually used to hang out with the deer we had all the time. Anyway there was a dragonfly buzzing around and it caught her eye. She moved to a position under it and tracked it for about 3 seconds then leapt up and snagged it out of the air with her mouth. She landed, ate it and laid down in the grass by us. I wish that I could have gotten it on tape because she jumped up about 7 feet I swear.

You can see the muscle in her body in that pic, and she was older in that. The deck is on the back of that house which is on a slope so that's a second story. The railing was warped from a bad piece of wood and for some reason she liked jumping up there. When it got replaced she still jumped up on it though.

That girl had a great life!

MNF: Vikings at Seahawks

The packers were concerned. That's why they fired that lug they had as a hc. They need a hc that can get him going again as he has been very average the last couple of years.

.

Rodgers reputation and head have grown so big that any incoming coach has a higher chance of failure than success. How does a new coach take charge of Rodgers, and Rodgers' team? With that QB anything but the playoffs will be deemed not good enough, despite the real problem being the lack of talent at other positions.

Maybe in a year or two, if they aren't on the upswing, Green Bay will try to cash in on Rodgers and land a bunch of draft picks in a trade.

Gurley, Peters, Donald: 12/14/18

Did Peters call Brockers "Broccoli"? Is that his nickname or did he misspeak (or did I mishear)?

I think the Rams are going to bounce back hard this weekend. The closer we get to it, the better I feel about it. The Bears game was not us. It was everything we used to be and everything we hoped we left behind. Time to play to our identities again
Several years ago I either heard this from a TV commentator making a prediction or read someone prediction games say this: never get against the home team on a prime time game if they're coming off a loss. It was true last week. Hopefully it's true this week. I didn't want to say anything last week because I didn't want to be a downer.

Anyway, I agree that we come back hard this week and pull out a win.

Rams re-sign OL Jamil Demby

Adding Demby in place of Hatfield is good in the short term and it gets him back on the roster for 2019. He has some potential. Maybe not as a starter but possibly as their 6th or 7th OL next year depending on how things shake out.
If Blythe takes over the OC post, Noteboom fills the vacant LG post then the RG post would be the most likely the OL post in contention between Demby & Allen.
Good for Demby. No one really knows what Demby will become in the NFL. At least the Rams see some potential. At Six Ft Five Inches weighing @ the combine 321 Lbs he has good size. If he gets into the NFL weight training he could become starter. Excited to see what Kromer can do with him>
I agree, Demby appeared back in pre season to be somewhat out of shape & thick around the middle. for a young 21 yr old. His size is close physically to Rodger Saffold was back in 2009. Demby did play a ton in pre season. Seeing most of his work on the right side @ OG & OT. He did start the 4th gm @ RT & looked good there IMO. Demby play a ton of Left side in college.

Maybe a refresher course on Jamil Demby, might be a good thing to do here? Below are some of the Draft Scout analysts comments on Demby:

JD has...
*intelligence and ability to punch, move his feet, and anchor in pass protection make him an intriguing prospect.
* is a well-built, wide-framed college tackle who projects inside to guard.
* experience at tackle &his traits in pass protection could help him stand out for a pass-heavy offense looking to shore up a leaky interior.

* possesses next-level size and strength and is a solid position blocker
* explosive at the point and effective with his hands
* keeps his feet moving throughout the action. Stays square.
* Effective as a position blocker who seals opponents from the action. Quick and keeps his head on a swivel.

Jemil Demby Is A Developmental Guard With Strength
https://www.detroitlionspodcast.com/zachary-warber/2018/04/26/jamil-demby-2018-draft-class/

What Will Jemil Demby Need To Develop In The NFL?
Coming from a smaller program and playing poor competition at Maine puts Jemil Demby at a disadvantage heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. His size is NFL-caliber at 6’5″, 335 lbs, and has the type of size and arm length combination that is coveted by Lions general manager Bob Quinn. However, much of his technical ability is still quite raw and will need a year or two to refine his technique before being trusted with a starter role.

Demby’s hand usage and pad level to this point have been wildly inconsistent. Granted, it was not necessary for his success in college, but it will be paramount to his development in the pros. Hand placement is so crucial to winning the leverage battle early on in the trenches. Working on his hand usage and widening his base will go a long way into turning around his technical skill. When he narrows his base his ability to drive block is minimized. Which leads to blocks being shed earlier than the play is designed for, which led to blown up runs on occasion.

Why Demby Is Worth The Development
As previously mentioned, while his school is small, his size can be quite imposing. When he had his initial hand positioning right, he absolutely dominated defenders in college. His motor will never be questioned as he plays through the whistle on nearly every down. Has a strong mean streak. Demby’s end goal of each play genuinely seems to be to put the defender into the ground.

His hands are absolutely violent. He has a more natural feel in zone blocking or stretch zone runs than he does straight man blocking. Lateral quickness is better than you would expect for someone of this size. Has an ability to clear defenders completely from the play if he is able to engage second level defenders in the screen game or as a pull blocker.

Moving inside from tackle at a pass-happy school, Demby is much more developed in pass protection than he is as a run blocker. His length, versatility, and pass blocking ability all fit While he may not be called to be a starter in the 2018 season, he has one of the highest ceilings of any offensive line prospect that will be available on day three.

Old Guard (Center) Edition

Wow! You guys suck at this. :sneaky:

I suppose I'll have to come up with an easier one for yawlz.

Only 25% of you got this one right. Though it took Rich Saul until his 6th season to crack the starting line-up and take over for long time Rams center Ken Iman, Saul showed his metal by making 6 Pro Bowls to finish his career on top. Once Rich became the starter, he started all but one game over the next seven including every game of his final season. He finished his last season with yet another Pro Bowl selection becoming one of a short list to walk away as one of the best in the game.

Sadly Rich passed away at the way too young age of 64 after battling Leukemia for 9 years.

Rams’ consistent O- line vows to rebound from Chicago woes

We did play the best defense in the NFL in Chicago.
I still didn't think we would look that bad - particularly the O line.
Goff looked shook up and surprised.

Let's hope his confidence is not shaken.

Maybe rotate some O lineman in with the starters and give the older guys some rest and give experience to the backups these last three games.

Definitely a bye week would help, (and if we make it that far) the week off before the Super Bowl as well.

Thoughts from Stephen A. Smith Show

uhhhh. There's a lot of linked tweets and junk so not going to copy whole thing but click and read if you like basking in how stupid Stephen A Smith is. Well played by the Chargers social media person lol.

https://sports.yahoo.com/stephen-sm...curate-chargers-chiefs-preview-172853190.html

Say it loud enough and … well, it still doesn’t make it true.

Stephen A. Smith quickly went 0-for-4 on ESPN’s “First Take” previewingThursday night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.

Smith wildly misses the mark
Smith gave his take to Max Kellerman and Tedy Bruschi on Thursday morning’s show, pointing out who he was looking forward to watching.

He highlighted Chiefs running back Spencer Ware, Chargers tight end Hunter Henry and Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson.

If that didn’t read right to you, it’s because it definitely was not. And it had his TV mates serving as live fact checkers.

Stephen A Smith's scouting report for #TNF has Hunter Henry and Derrick Johnson as a key matchup...

Neither has playd a snap for the Chargers or Chiefs all year

Those faces, though.

Correcting Smith’s scouting report
There’s quite a few things to undo here.

  1. “I’m going to have some faith in Spencer Ware and thinking he can do some things.”

We’re not sure why. Ware was officially ruled doubtful with a foot injury on Thursday afternoon. Kellerman, in some disbelief, reminded Smith of such.

2. “I’m also looking at the San Diego Chargers on offense.”

Maybe we got to the bottom of this: he’s watching game tape from prior seasons. That’s the only way you’re looking at the San Diego Chargers.

3. “And I’m thinking about Hunter Henry and the way that he’s played this year …”

Henry, who we should note is indeed a tight end for the Chargers, has been out all year with a torn right ACL.

4. ” … he’s going up against Derrick Johnson and I have to keep my eyes on that.”

Johnson was certainly a guy to keep an eye on.

From 2005 through 2017. He left the Chiefs in February, signed with the Oakland Raiders, and has since been released.

Twitter appropriately roasts Smith

Well @LesBaker his work here definitely provoked some thoughts for me, but I don't think it's the kind you meant.

Hal Steinbrenner

Andujar would help the Mets immensely. Adding his offense to Cano’s would keep their starters from battling in 1 run games like last year.

I just read that the Mets didn’t like the idea of helping the Yankees and the three player deal has shifted to the Marlins-Mets-Padres with other teams throwing their hat into the ring.
Yup, they are idiots. Andujar would absolutely RAKE at Citi field too. He is a doubles machine, imagine in a big park like that? I'm not terribly disappointed though, I just don't think Syndegard will stay healthy.
I really like Andujar, and would hate to lose his bat, but we are getting Machado so....
I'd personally like to see him shag some flies in the OF

Refs Instructed to Call More Holding Calls?

If you start calling the game by the rules, most players will change how they play to match the rulebook. For the first couple of weeks after calling the game by the rules, there will be lots of penalties and long games, but that will only last a short period of time. Yes, the D will get a lot more sacks, etc. So if the league doesn't like it, then fucking change the rules, don't fucking ignore them.
