Trade value of every Rams pick in the 2019 NFL draft

I just get this crazy feeling our first will be used to trade down and not pick up extra picks this year but a 2nd this year and next year as well.
Assuming we still get a player we really like (and by we I mean the fans, no one cares about Les Snead's feelings) I think this is the best scenario. Let some team say to themselves "it's not really a second next year, it's like a third this year" right up until next year comes and they don't have a second round pick and we have 2. Build future draft capital to play with that teams think is a discount instead of getting lesser draft capital this year. Good things come to those who wait.

Aaron Donald makes a huge donation to Pitt Football

I'm going to take a cold hearted ruthless capitalist approach here. AD works out in the offseason and when he's visiting home at Pitt. His accountant tells him if he makes a $x charitable donation it will save him $x dollars in taxes. AD says to himself..."Self, if I make this my ultimate gym through a charitable donation, I get a primo workout space for me, help my former college, and get a tax break. Winner winner chicken dinner."

Phil Knight has been doing this not only with his alma mater of UO, but also OSU in Oregon.

A Song that Revealed Something About a Lost Loved One

I lost my Dad back in 2005 and I am sad to say that I shed no tears. I didn't hate him or anything, but we were never buddies, if you know what I mean. I missed him when he was gone, and it was bad news for my Mom when it happened because of how her life changed.

I came home to Portland,OR from Kansas, to visit Mom and Mom had some things she wanted to give me of his. Seeing Righteous Brothers soundtracks/cassettes shocked me somehow. I learned that singers like they were, were called "blue eyed soul" in the 60's. I knew he loved Elvis, but Elvis was never my thing. I heard "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" in Top Gun and loved it. It opened my mind to other blues/soul singers/Musicians like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, and Robert Parker. I was shocked that my Dad really loved them back in the day. It opened my mind a little bit about the person that he was that I never saw when he was alive.

Did you discover something about a lost loved one that opened your eyes as to they were, aside from just being Mom or Dad?

Rams free agency review: More departures than arrivals this time around

CJ was just about unstoppable in his replacement of TGII. CJ's safe controlled big runs up the middle sure let McVay relax & throw when he got bored, but MB offers more options & has better overall skills in the passing game.

McVay & MB had been together for two seasons that must have developed a relationship & comfortability with Malcolm. MB had much less mileage on his tires & IMO not even broke in yet. After four NFL season MB only has 128 attempts for 514 yds/ 18 reception for 149 yds. I believe he will double that this season alone.

MB has some long-range speed for an RB he did run a 100-meter dash in 11.54 seconds. MB is just beginning to peak & has the potential to play a much bigger role in this offense in 2019. McVay has MB for two seasons to knock the tire tits off the edges.

I really doubt that Snead will trade up in the 1st round...

I am a huge Hockenson fan, but I have to be realistic with myself. I can’t justify trading up and reducing our draft capital to select a player at a position that typically takes a bit longer to figure out at the pro level- on top of the fact that he’ll probably get even less snaps with the return of Kupp. While the idea of upgrading our TE depth chart is awful enticing, I just can’t see it with a trade up or an early round pick. The kid’s got incredible skill and ethic, but return on investment not there.

Now for a guy like Simmons or Murphy? I’m game. Let Lawrence fall to us or even trade down into late thirties and nab him.

NE scares me on draft day! They could poach a good DL or trade out for qb-hungry team

Memento's Possibly Final 2019 Mock Draft (Unless something changes.)

I have nothing against Peters personally. I just donI't like his lack of physicality. I can live with gambling, but I hate passivity from a defensive player, even corners.
I
I'm not crazy about Peters future with the Rams either. I think he's better than some have said based on his performance for half the season when he was injured. I also doubt that he gives the Rams any sort of discount - and the Rams could use savings anywhere they can. If the Rams can trade him and a pick to move up and get a CB they really like - even #31 to move up enough to get a premium CB prospect - I could definitely get behind that. If they could trade a third and Peters, even more so.

Rams sign veteran Safety Eric Weddle

Film Breakdown: What Weddle brings to the Rams at safety

Before the free agency period even officially started, the Rams signed safety Eric Weddle to a two-year deal after Baltimore cut the veteran in early March.

In his introductory press conference, Weddle talked about being a good scheme fit under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips because he’s familiar with the system — having played in a variation of it during his many years with the Chargers.

Weddle just turned 34 in January, but has still shown plenty of ability to play at a high level. Using NFL GamePass, here are a few examples from the 2018 season in this film breakdown.

When you think about a free safety, the first thing you probably think about is his coverage ability. That’s where we’ll start with Weddle, who broke up a key deep pass to Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones in Week 13 of the 2018 season.

It’s 1st-and-10 from the Falcons’ 25 in the first quarter, with the Ravens up 7-3 (they’d end up winning 26-16 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium). Baltimore showed a two-deep safety look pre-snap, with Weddle toward the bottom of the screen.

At the snap, Weddle drops back to his half of the field, with the safety opposite him — Chuck Clark — also dropping back, indicating the Ravens were playing Cover 2.

The Ravens are able to jam Jones a bit at the line of scrimmage, but he gets a decent release and begins running down the field on a deep route.

The throw from quarterback Matt Ryan probably ends up being a little underthrown. But because Weddle stays over the top of Jones throughout the course of the play, he’s able to track the ball well and break it up before Jones can make a catch.

Weddle’s responsibilities weren’t limited to deep pass coverage, however. In this play from the fourth quarter of Baltimore’s matchup with Kansas City in Week 14, Weddle shifts across the formation from the defense’s right to left, and essentially becomes an unplanned-for defender near the line of scrimmage.

The guard and tackle block down, but don't get to Weddle on the second level. The safety is then able to shoot the gap to bring down running back Damien Williams for a one-yard loss.

Finally, Weddle has recorded at least a half sack in 10 of his 12 professional seasons. Last year, that came against quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Browns.

On this 3rd-and-8 play, Weddle initially lines up about 10 yards from the line of scrimmage, but then rushes down to blitz before the snap gets off.

While Weddle doesn’t get the snap timing exactly right, he is able to keep his momentum going forward into the backfield. He also takes an outside path to the QB, in some ways getting out of sight of the Browns’ offensive line. This is also good scheme, because the Ravens have three defenders in one spot — in some ways reflecting a kind of bunch formation like you might see from an offense.

With the way the offensive linemen release up front, it looks like the Browns were trying to set up a running back screen to the left side. But defender Anthony Levine (No. 41) jams that up by taking on both the left tackle and running back at the point of attack.

Weddle bursts through open lane to put a clean hit on Mayfield for the sack.

These are the kinds of elements Weddle brings to a defense. And pairing Weddle’s vast experience and knowledge with Phillips’ creativity and ability to put players in the best position to make plays, Weddle should be able to flourish in the Rams’scheme.

What to do in Key West?

Since you're gonna be down there during the day time and it's a guys trip... I can tell you for sure where to find all the eye candy and a great time.

Go to Dante's. They have a giant pool surrounded by bars. Everyone is partying like rock stars in the pool... all adults obviously... and believe me there isn't anywhere else like this down there. You don't have to get in the pool... there's tiki huts and tables all around it. If you're down there during the day... it's a must. You guys will be extremely happy with the scene.

You can thank me later.

I grew up watching WWF. I never cared for WCW. I, To this day will not refer to it as WWE.

I watched through the late 80s and all of the 90’s, into the Attitude Era. Once they split up into Raw and Smackdown...I lost it. I never watched another moment. Also, that was about the time I learned that I was of the “Vagina getting age” and that just seemed much more important lol

Funny, that's when I started watching it. 2002-2006 were some of the best stories and in-ring action. It had a more underground feel to it, especially Smackdown!.

2007-2013 were really, really hard to get through; I wasn't a hardcore watcher really. It got good again around 2014 to current.

If Rams draft a backup QB, he will be...

Holy crap, after watching this video, I can see why jrry and Mac and others are high on Easton Stick. Great mobility, what a playmaker. The first throw in the vid is ridonculous.

Best part of the vid is that you can see how he deals with consistent pressure. Too many other highlight reels are just a collection of ‘pitch and catch’ plays without any rush.

I’d be ecstatic if the Rams picked this guy.

Edit: on second viewing, I noticed those aren’t plays against Michigan, it’s against a crappy Delaware team (they have the same helmets). Still— a lot of very impressive stuff in this vid.

Biorock aka Coral Viagra

Les is calling out my inner science nerd here, so be warned.

There are a number of different factors that have to be considered before just dropping something down on the ocean floor expecting it to become a reef or useful structure.

The 1st thing is the depth of the water. If you're looking to create a reef for hard corals to attach themselves to... you can't go too deep. Let's just say 100 feet or less for hard corals. Hard corals are the ones that we hear about dying from bleaching these days. Sunlight is very important for them to be able to grow... the deeper you get... the less light comes down.

Soft corals form on deeper structures. They don't require as much light as the hard ones.

Another important factor is the current. Many people have no idea that there is a literal river running along the east coast of Florida known as the Gulf Stream... and it is powerful and strong. The current created in this never stops, but it does fluctuate a small distance east and west almost daily. Drop something in the Gulf Stream off Florida and it might end up off the North Carolina coast in a few days. It flows north.

The daily tide rythm also has to be considered. The high tide depth may be perfect... but during low tide your structure may be above water during certain moon cycles. Plus... the orientation of the structure needs to allow for the current to flow over it in a way that promotes growth for coral and places for fish to escape the currents. Think about it this way... have the nose of a sunken ship pointed into the current (old boats and ships are used all the time)... if the current is blasting against the side of the ship it will cause the thing to fall over and probably move completely away from where you wanted it to be placed. Ocean currents are super strong.

The material you're using is also a factor. I mentioned old ships... but many times old concrete bridges and culverts are used along with big chunks of used concrete. The old oil rig towers are great because of their shape and openness. They're perfect structures for fish and coral. Old airplanes are sometimes used as well.

Still another thing to consider is the boat traffic or possible shipping lanes. You don't want to create a possible hazard for ships and boats.

Temperatures of the water in the location also have to be considered.

There's other crap too... but the bottom line is... you can't just toss something overboard and expect it to turn into a useful structure for for marine life. It's complicated.

Talk nerdy to me!!!

So I know there is ALWAYS more to it than meets the eye.

That's why I asked.
