Article on Rams Defense in the bowl game

If the Rams make it back to the Super Bowl this coming season (I think they have a good shot, but nothing's certain) that will mean they have diversified enough to avoid the mistakes and predictability that everybody in the league now knows. They've learned their weaknesses - at least many of them, and have taken steps to improve, as well as likely improvements in depth at many positions. Most importantly, McVay has learned the importance of avoiding tells - I suspect there was a bit of hubris there, but with everybody following the Rams closely now, he knows to vary things up, instead of using the same formations and groups on offense.

Rams announce signing of 22 UDFA's as of 5/15/19

Funny you mentioned this kid. I havent been on much but did want to come on to talk about Bachman.

As a BC fan and alum, I watch a lot of ACC football. Got to see this kid play a lot. First off, I am surprised he was not drafted. That being said, I think this kids is a perfect fit for McVays offense.

Why is a perfect fit? He is quick is small space as well as being fast. He runs terrific routes which to me is essential in a McVay offense. He has great hands and really good after the catch. When you think of the Rams receivers, to me Woods and Kupp are our top 2.....just my opinion. What makes them so good is their ability to run good routes. McVays offense is derived on that very skill. What also stands out is reports that this kid is a bit of film freak which I think will translate.

If given the opportunity, I am excited to see what this kid can do in this offense. I feel like when Kupp went down we didnt have a viable replacement. Im not a huge Reynolds fan, but having a guy like Bachman who I believe could fill in for say a Woods or Kupp if they got hurt. Clearly he is not going to start but I think he could be a good depth guy that more importantly should contribute if we had any injuries at the WR position.

He looks like a really good fit so yeah I'm with you. He just needs to win a spot on teams and from there I do think he could stick.

An Early Look at the NFLs Next Wave Of Head Coaching Candidates

We need someone like McDaniels that just want to ride it out.

In McDaniels case there seems an eventual opening (semi short term) when Bellichick retires...

That’s not the case behind McVay. You need to hope he gets fired.

So, keeping younger coaches will be hard.

Only guys similar to Wade who have “been there done that” would probably ride behind McVay.

The Best Player Who Could Be Cut from Every NFL Roster This Offseason

Considering the guys they drafted for the OL, and how Blythe got pushed around by big, quick Dl-iners, its clear the Rams need/want to get bigger on the OL. Blythe is better suited to spell guys off the bench, he's just not big enough to be a starter. He can back up all inside OL positions. Wouldn't surprise me if Rams pick up a Vet who gets cut right before TC or before season starts.

I'll be really concentrating on TE's and CB's this coming TC. I'm betting one UDFA from each group impress.
I think we signed only one DB from the UDFA. list. You think he could surprise?

Rams bring in Ketner Kupp to try and stop brother Cooper Kupp during practice

Must have something to do with that red field:

Kupple of Rams: Ketner Kupp signs with Los Angeles, joining brother Cooper and three other ex-EWU standouts

By Ryan Collingwood ryanc@spokesman.com(509) 459-5473

When asked last season about the professional football prospects of his younger brother, Los Angeles Rams receiver and former Eastern Washington star Cooper Kupp saw a potential self-made NFL linebacker.

But Ketner Kupp – an All-Big Sky Conference talent who led EWU in tackles last season – needed to get his foot in the door first.

“I would never bet against Ketner,” said Cooper, a two-year Rams starter who suffered a season-ending injury last November.

On Tuesday, Cooper hugged Ketner in a back office – as seen on a video posted on the Rams’ Twitter feed – after he signed a rookie free-agent contract with the EWU-heavy organization.

“Kupple of brothers living the dream!” the Rams posted on Twitter.

Now there are two Kupps and five ex-Eagles in Los Angeles.

With the addition of Ketner, the defending NFC champions have five former EWU standouts: Starting outside linebacker Samson Ebukam, center Aaron Neary and receiver Nsimba Webster are the other three.

Webster reported to rookie camp on Monday after the Rams signed him as a free agent.

Ketner also went undrafted last month, but was invited to the San Francisco 49ers rookie camp last week.

He suited up with the 49ers last week but didn’t sign a contract.

Pro Football Focus grades Rams, rest of NFC West validate Rams’ trades down's

By 243rd, you're picking for role or scheme. It makes zero sense to use a team neutral value at that point (if it ever makes sense)
Yeah gotta love somebody taking a rotoworld writer's rankings serious. Best part is the next line that 5 UDFA were ranked higher, but if a 6th round pick is a big reach that's an A+ draft IMO.

Threw my back out

Feeling for you brother. My back is one of the reasons I can't do Jiu-Jitsu anymore. Every time I train, the second I start twisting my body, I am laid up for a couple of weeks.

Was similar for me except it was my shoulder. LOVE BJJ. My body? Not so much.

As for this back, because other stuff led to some weight gain, think I might have to see the Chiro...

Similar problem here. I started getting into judo for a while, but it's terribly violent and not made for unskilled 30 year olds with joint problems. I had to quit.

Haters Guide To 2018

Found this on youtube. I just love this guys commentary. Brutally truthful and funny as hell. Hard to disagree with most of his takes.

Found this very helpful, thanks. Although "A Haters Guide" to anything is always helpful. I'm still looking for a good "Haters guide" to starting an herb garden, if you come across one.(n)

That'd be great. (y)

2019 offseason examination: Do L.A. Rams have depth?

There will be a couple of UDFA's that stand out. With the depth the Rams already have, its going to be harder for one of them to make the team, but one or two will and someone will be an unexpected cut.

Well, there are some vets - including some young ones - who could be on the chopping block if they don't impress this training camp. If you're a late pick, you don't necessarily get 4 years to impress the coaches, especially with cap room so tight. They won't cut somebody just to save a small amount - but players in their 2nd and 3rd seasons need to step up or be replaced.

A seventh-round pick's ascension to a starting position is the epitome of a storyline filled with defying odds. And it's a fit for Dakota Allen.

In 2016, Texas Tech dismissed Allen from the program after he was arrested for a home burglary. He appeared on Last Chance U, a Netflix series that highlighted collegians who were needed new opportunities to pursue their football aspirations. The Red Raiders accepted Allen back into the program, and he became a team captain in his last two terms.

Allen's rough road to the NFL likely factored into his draft placement, but he'll suit up for a team that's not quite settled at inside linebacker.

The Los Angeles Rams signed linebacker Clay Matthews, who could line up on the inside, but he's 33 years old. The coaching staff may limit his snaps at this stage, especially after a down year in Green Bay. Meanwhile, Micah Kiser, a 2018 fifth-rounder, didn't play a defensive snap last season and only contributed to special teams.

Looking at Allen's collegiate film, he should give the Rams a physical boost in run defense and the ability to break up passes in the middle of the field. The 6'1", 232-pound linebacker will have a golden opportunity to play significant snaps next Cory Littleton.
