Jeff Fisher Evaluates Goff With Collin Cowherd

Great to see you're back! Must mean football is 'round the corner!!
Thanks!

Yeah... boy, I remember all the years (various boards) where I was on there all year long!

But, with each passing year (getting old :)) the off season gets more and more boring to me. Hate pre-season and I never was a draftnik.

But... T-2 weeks, so I'm waking up from my funk. :)

I hate this uneasy feeling at the start of the season. Even though we made it all the way to the Super Bowl, it was how Bellichick figured us out that makes me uneasy, still.

Up to McVay to devise new and innovative ways to keep them all off guard.

He's a very bright guy... if anyone can do that, I believe he can.

Unfortunately, y'all be seeing more of me in the coming weeks :):)

Rams vs Texans, Who Will Make The Trip?

Saturday is cut day, 4pmET is the deadline.

https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2019/...es-rams-sean-mcvay-august-25-press-conference

(On if the starters and key reserves will travel to Houston for the preseason finale on Thursday)

“We will. The guys that will be out by injury or that we legitimately would leave back because of that, those guys wouldn’t travel as long as we have a legitimate reason to leave them back. We’ll take everybody else. It will be a small group of guys (who don’t travel to Houston), but it won’t be anything like what the Hawaii trip was. The majority of our team will be there.”

In the transcript McVay also says ILB and corner depth is what they're still trying to figure out.

Will Winning Reveal Los Angeles Rams Internal Coaching Tiffs?

What the heck is a “tiff”
Tagged image file format?

It makes more sense to me than the author’s attempt to suggest that McVay and Phillips are going to engage in non productive arguments over a predictable and hopefully expected improvement on defense.

If he was trying to be coy with sarcasm, his imaginative examples to convey that transition weren’t the best

RAMblings with Dont'e Deayon

RAMblings with Dont'e Deayon

Sarina: “Good Eatz,” you're wearing it. (Dante is wearing a t-shirt with the logo.) What does it mean?

Dont'e Deayon: So for starters, I started Good Eatz when I was in college at Boise State. It's progressed now. I've set it up as a nonprofit organization and a lifestyle brand and a C Corp. That way I still have the business side. We're doing different things, there's people who are involved with it that I either grew up with or play professional football now. (We are) able to touch different cities rather than just me wanting to do what I want to do which is give back and touch my community. Now, we have a platform to go reach different cities.
Sarina: Where did the name Good Eatz come from?

Dont'e Deayon: Football players, when we're on the field, we always say ‘We eating.’ We're out there getting it. So it just really started from there. I was on the field one day… ‘Oh, that's good eats!’

Sarina: You're a smaller football player. How do you use your size to an advantage, especially being a defensive back?

Dont'e Deayon: Really harping in on the details of the game and the position. Not only knowing the things that I need to get done as a corner, but the grand scheme of things. What is my safety doing? What is my linebacker doing? What does the Dline do? Do I have help here? Just knowing the ins and outs mentally helps me take it to the next level. And then when it comes to the physical part, you just got to be a dog and you got to go get it.

Sarina: When I walk into the locker room, make a right, there you are with all of the defensive backs. The loudest in the locker room. Fill in the blank, “A defensive back is…”

Dont'e Deayon: “Woo!!” We're going to leave it at “Woo!” because there's a million things that could go in there.

Sarina: Why?

Dont'e Deayon: It's natural. It's the confidence that comes with playing that position and if you ain't got confidence in yourself when you're playing that position then you can't succeed. I think we just carry it as well off the field. It's still a lot of humbleness, but then they are very excited and turned up people.

Sarina: I don't think I’ve ever seen you not smiling. Why are you always smiling?

Donte Deayon: It comes from and where I've been before this point. Even as I went through a lot of things growing up, I was always smiling, always upbeat. I know the other side of things, so I just try to take the joy day-in and day-out. And then if I make somebody else smile, and make other people happy, it’s a win.

Sarina: What's your pet-peeve then?

Dont'e Deayon: Blatant lies. Especially when I already know the truth. If you lie straight to me, that just grinds me the wrong way.

Sarina: Where were you this time last year?

Dont'e Deayon: Oh, this time last year I was in New York playing ball for the Giants. In the New Jersey area.

Sarina: How did you get from there? Because now you're here with a full preseason. I’m sure that must make such difference, being with the Rams.

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, definitely. Just being able to go from the transition of the new defense, new teammates, new head coach, new style of being. It's amazing, though, because it's almost like night and day for me. Being from California, then going to New York, meeting different people, different style, then coming back to being older now in this situation has just been amazing. And really being able to grow and learn, and learn from All-Pros, and Pro Bowlers, and soak up all that game, it's really been good.

Sarina: As I'm smelling this food in the back right now, I get a sense it's the recipe of the Pro Bowlers and having a coaching staff like Wade (Phillips) and Aubrey (Pleasant) and coach E (Ejiro Evero), that kind of creates the stew for the season.

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah definitely. The makeup of dude’s character that they have in here, the certain type of guys, I feel like a lot of the dudes that's in the locker room can relate to each other, which is big, because sometimes people don't get along well. Whether you're teammates or not. But now, you can really relate with dudes, you feel dudes’ stories and what they've been through, and it makes you want to play harder when you get on the field.

Sarina: What's unique about the Rams? What is the difference in the interviewing process? What do they ask you?

Dont'e Deayon: Right, so it gets down to the core of who you are. What are you made up of? On the field can travel off the field too. On the field, what type of player are you? Are you a smart player? Are you a dude who can pick up concepts well? Then off the field, guys who you can relate to. There's older guys who've been through things that you probably didn't go through. Well, you might end up going through… and they give you that game and experience from their point of view.

Sarina: What kind of player are you?

Dont'e Deayon: Oh that's a long list. (Laughs) I like to focus on the details of things. Aggressive. I want to know the ins and outs of what we got going on. I want to know what's the certainty like. What we're looking for. What we're expecting from these calls, or expecting these formations from teams and the things you can anticipate because I play off of a lot of anticipation. I play in the corner. And that's how I can get my interceptions, you know?

Sarina: Which you did! Against the Cowboys.

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, I got one of them! And that comes from the preparation. Just studying and then people think game days are games days, but I get loose and have fun. You know what I mean?

Sarina: All the hard work is done before.

Dont'e Deayon: Right, prep, all that week. All that you put in leading up. The preparation really helps for game days.

Sarina: So back to 'Good Eatz,'Tyler Gigbee says he doesn't like lettuce. And Gerald Everett says he doesn't like spaghetti. What do you not like?

Dont'e Deayon: I don't like sushi. I know it's a big one. I don't like sushi, I don't like tomatoes, I don't like onions. I don't like peppers.

Sarina: Oh, no flavor.

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, some salt, some pepper, some seasoning salt, but I don't really like too much of that extra stuff.

Sarina: Do you like lettuce and spaghetti?

Dont'e Deayon: I love spaghetti. Sometime with meatballs, sausages.

Sarina: But no tomato? So like a raw tomato, no, but like tomato sauce okay?

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, tomato sauce is fine. Pizza? Fine. Love pizza. But not the tomato pizza like-
Sarina: Margherita pizza.

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, I like regular pizza. I just can't have those big ol’ tomato slices on it. I don't want those tomatoes.

Sarina: Lastly, what is the last thing you binge watched?

Dont'e Deayon: I actually just binge watched Euphoria.

Sarina: Crazy show!

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, that was a lot, that was a wild show. It's a different show.

Sarina: Shout out to Zendaya.

Dont'e Deayon: Yeah, she's doing it all. But yeah, that was the last show I binge watched.

Coliseum rennovation is great...

The images provided so far on the Inglewood Stadium show it as having dark blue seats.

Also, the two teams that currently play there (Rams and Chargers, but hey let’s hope the Chargers leave soon :D) have dark blue as their primary home color.

Here’s an image of the Stadium seating from a show Fred Roggin did in Jan 2019. So far, all indications seem to be that the seats will be dark blue.

Thanks, that answers my curiosity, ... and that picture looks damn good. (y)

Rams 'expect a lot better' from Jamil Demby than how he's played

They look marginal now but give them time. They will continue to practice their techniques during the season. I would expect them to look much better coming out of the bye week.

I've also seen it where going out and buying someone's castoff is paying for nothing. There are reasons they are available at this time. They might also keep Brewer and perhaps other roster cuts on the PS. So it's no reason to panic or worry about something that might be nothing at all. They all looked better this week. Let's see how they do Thursday.

Give the guys some slack. Demby has never played center and Evans has never played OG. If you want to blame someone blame Kromer for his insistence they learn everything at once. Edwards looked good because he hasn't been put through that. His play at OG has been minor and short.

I mean can you give me a good reason to put Demby at LT? If you were going to move Demby then why not to RG and or Center. But they played him at LG, RT and LT. That to me says they are keeping him and expecting him to play all o-line positions. Name one good player who has done that? Two yes, but all 5? That makes no sense since they have Edwards to play both OT positions. Demby needs snaps at both OG and as center. Why waste snaps at LT and RT when everyone knows Edwards will be the backup for them?

Travin Howard one of the most interesting players to watch as final cuts loom

People obviously don't understand the role Ebukam plays. He's the only complete OLB the Rams have. Mathews was that way when he was young. Setting a hard edge is huge in stopping the run and that's why teams tended to run away from not towards Ebukam. People think because Mathews is listed as a OLB he's replacing Ebukam. I doubt that since Mathew's isn't as good as he was in coverage. Also because IMO he's going to move to Brocker's DE position on passing downs. So he and Ogbo will be rotating there on passing downs.

Mathews timed at 4.67 at the combine in 2009 which coincidentally is the same as Ogbo's low at the combine. That said watching Clay last year it looked pretty clear he's lost a step. He's probably running close to 4.8 right from watching him in pass coverage. That said I've posted how good technique can cover a players flaws, and that is especially true in pass rushing. After 10 years, I expect Clay's technique to be as good as it gets so we shall see.

Howard has been behind Middleton for a reason. He's proved nothing except he might be worthy of keeping his backup role. If you actually break down Patrick's plays his lack of speed shows. His pressures would be sacks if he was faster. It's why they moved him to ILB in college. He's too slow to play outside.

Hager will start because he's earned it. It was not a given that Kiser would start. Dakota Allen doesn't have the speed for coverage so he's basically an early down ILB at best. Yes, Hager has made some judgment mistakes but it's to be expected since he rarely played. Last year he only had 53 defensive snaps the entire year behind Barron and Wilson. I expect his play to improve with experience. Up to now, he's been a pretty good ST's player.

My #1 concern this season

I brought his name up about a week ago and got no response, but I would consider bringing in 34 year old former Ram John Greco for a look-see. He played both Center & RG for the Giants last season. If he still has some juice left, let him play back-up and retire with the team that brought him up. Probably little more than vet minimum salary should do it. jmo.
Greco, as I said at the time, was a good p,Ayer, never allowed to prove his self, here. I wrote detailed, in game analysis....fuck it, bring him back.

2020 NFL draft: Top 50 prospects to watch this college football season

Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, .......

I wish there was a way for the NCAA to cap the number of five star recruits each school can sign. It may help even out the competition. With most Bigger schools getting one or two a year and Alabama getting five or six, it's just too unbalanced. Clemson isn't far behind. The National Championship has become predictable, boring, and repetitious.

Broncos at Rams Preseason Game 3

Again this started with me saying how great the depth was at WR I get it. But that's not the only position we have depth at and we have a couple other positions we need depth. This cut down day is going to be brutal. I just don't see much coming in a trade for anybody tbh.

Probably no trade unless some random team loses a WR to injury fairly soon.
Still, my point remains, Reynolds is likely to bring us the most trade value of anyone we have where our depth is completely safe & solid. Bortles also gets added if QB's keep dropping, 'i'm fine entering the season with Brandon Allen or Wolford.

Do you suppose that Snead is working the phones seeking a player-for-player trade for OL help?

I have put it on the record several times that I think it was a big mistake to let Saffold go. I would have matched what the Chargers gave him. I think Saffold would have been worth every penny. I will not repeat my lengthy reasons here when a brief summary can suffice - pro bowl level play currently, can play multiple positions on the line, good attitude and veteran leader to help our many young linemen along, the Rams having little depth on the o-line, continuity on the o-line being important, Saffold still being young enough that he should have a number of productive years left, Goff in particular not showing to be comfortable under pressure thus far in his career, injuries seemingly hitting the o-line more than other positions (the Rams have been very fortunate in recent years in this regard). The list goes on.

I still think letting Saffold go might just cost the Rams the season. Although I expect the Rams to do quite well regardless. Time will tell.

Ultimately, as fans, all we can do is hope for the best and enjoy the games as they come for the entertainment they provide. We have no control over the situation.

I will say that this regime has generally shown strong ability to let players go at the right time. And that their pickups have generally exceeded my expectations (see: Robert Woods, Austin Blythe) and that Kromer, in particular, seems to know what he is doing. If they are confident in what they have, I will keep my fingers optimistically crossed.

Okay, so what conclusions can be made for the final 53 after 3 preseason games?

I have been a fan of Peterson I cant see how they cut him or Williams. But with Hill not playing at all this preseason it would be unfair to cut him without giving him an opportunity to prove himself so I think he is safe and the 6 and probably final db spot is going to be between Williams and Peterson.

I dont think Peterson is eligible for the practice squad anymore so I think that that factors into the decision.

I think that either at DB or WR we will carry 7 players. I just dont know which yet

Best photos of Rams' preseason win over Broncos

The Los Angeles Rams secured their first win of the preseason on Saturday night, knocking off the Denver Broncos at home. It was another low-scoring affair, winning just 10-6, but it was a win nonetheless.
Here are the best photos from the game at the Coliseum, which is the Rams’ last preseason game ever at that venue.

Make ROD look good on your device

ROD is built to adjust the layout based on screen size. Most screens it will look the same… but on tablets, depending the orientation mode, it may adjust. Widgets down the sidebar become hidden behind a collapsible that can be opened.

The collapsable is the little grey button (top right of your screen);

ROD should look great out of the box, but you may find adjusting the font size (in your preferences - upper right of the screen... click on your avatar) to LARGE may trigger a look you prefer. This is very important to remember and perhaps worth trying. It really depends on the device you use as your primary and/or simply a desire for LARGER text.

Draft Pick Delusion

When it comes to UDFA's it's a bit of potluck. If a GM gets one a year sticking on the roster, he's considered a success. They sign a dozen or so each year. So I think that it's malarkey to get too enamored with UDFA types. I think it's a long shot to get them right. And we are talking about UDFA's. If you are wrong nobody remembers. If your right then it's bragging rights and can make people think you are a draft God. It's an easy bet.
