What to expect going forward

[QUOTE="leoram, post: 1238335,

Finally, there’s an element nobody seems to have considered. Wade’s defense is forming an identity that will see an adjustment from offenses later this year. The emphasis of limiting big plays necessitates offensive adjustment to short and intermediate attacks that result in long drives. This can wear a defense down. While others worry about the long term success of the offense, the defense is what concerns me most down the stretch with so much needed from older vets like Weddle, Talib, and Matthews.

Brethren, engage.

So, I expected the offensive adjustment to Wade’s defense, but I was surprised it came so soon and by the Bucs.

Week 4 2019 -; What's on your menu for Game Day? Love reading them.

Dag its way too hot to do anything outside on the grill....so I went to the freezer & took out a container of Beef Stew I made last month. I have some sourdough bread to go with it. Keep it simple.

I know its not very appealing but Wife's out-of-town working preparing her bank for a FDIC bank audit so its just me here.

Beef stew seems to be better after frozen IMHO. Maybe it marinates in freezer? I also like chili better after getting it out of freezer. Maybe just me?

Janoris Jenkins denies he’s under any pressure after ugly game

Even with Evans, the Bucs were always a guaranteed win when Fisher was here and Evans never burned Jenkins that bad before. Im guessing its a regimen problem more so then a Jenkins prob. Only person i remember burning Jenks that bad was Steve smith when we went against Carolina.
Yeah Jenkins resume against top receivers when he was in a rams uniform was spectacular. It was always the 2nd tier guys that worried me with him

Did Baker Mayfield audible to a draw on fourth and nine?

I think the draw was a reasonable call tbh. Browns were struggling in pass pro and were one great read/play by Weddle away from having a chance to convert it.

Things happen in games. Other teams make plays too. There were some plays where the Browns missed opportunities just like the Rams' offense did, but I don't really consider that one of them. It was a situation where the safety made a play.

Los Angeles Rams versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Matchups to watch

Onto week four we go!

As we prepare to kickoff for week four, the Los Angeles Rams will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a chance to begin the first quarter of the season with a perfect 4-0 record. Analyzing both rosters, I’ve finalized my matchups to watch, which could dictate the outcome of the game.

Let’s get into it:
LT Andrew Whitworth versus EDGE Shaq Barrett
Edge Shaq Barrett is one of the best players in the league this season, leading the entire NFL by a wide margin with his eight sacks through three weeks. Actually, Barrett has more sacks on his own than 17 teams in 2019. Left tackle Andrew Whitworth is as good as it gets, and he’ll need to be to slow down Barrett, who’s already had two contests with 3+ sacks. Barrett has a knack for knocking the ball loose too, doubling down on the effectiveness of a sack with a fumble, meaning quarterback Jared Goff has to continue to be aware of where #58 lines up.

DT Aaron Donald versus Bucs’ iOL
Defensive tackle Aaron Donald is as good as a player as you’ll ever see. This week he gets an optimal matchup against the Bucs’ interior offensive line as left guard Ali Marpet is a fantastic player, though center Ryan Jensen and right guard Alex Cappa are not. Donald — and his comrades — need to watch out for Jensen and his BS tactics, though they could very well wreak havoc against Jensen and Cappa, forcing mistake-prone quarterback Jameis Winston into some highly questionable decisions.

CB’s Aqib Talib/Marcus Peters versus WR Mike Evans
After having his picture slapped on milk cartons across the country by the angry fantasy football mob, wide receiver Mike Evans announced himself in a major way in week three, totaling eight receptions for 190 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. This week, the Rams’ duo at boundary cornerback in Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib will have their hands full, though both matchup well with the tall jump-ball receiver.

WR Brandin Cooks versus CB Vernon Hargreaves III
Wide receiver Brandin Cooks has statistically bested himself in every week throughout the season thus far, with the potential to do it again today versus Vernon Hargreaves III. Hargreaves is what you’d call a liability in the passing game, making him a massive target as he’ll likely cover a lot of (majority of) Cooks in this contest.

QB Jared Goff versus QB Jameis Winston
Yes, the two don’t play each other, though these two former first-overall draft picks are set to duel each other in what will likely decide the contest. Winston is an absolutely mistake-prone quarterback (six turnovers) who lacks the football IQ needed from the position, whereas Goff has been far more careful and effective in his career, though his 2019 season hasn’t exactly been what we’ve come to expect from Goff as he also currently has six turnovers.

How the NFL plans to overhaul instant replay in 2020

Speed and impact on the viewer is the key. We see enough of the refs already. Showing the refs' faces more and more is NOT good for the game. Those guys need to be in the background.

So if it were me I'd go with a silent review where the league has officials overlooking gameday results and remote-fixing what needs to be fixed. Basically expand the function of what they do in 2 minute and redzone situations.

As to the challenge flags, I'd make the impact of being wrong more punishing. Loss of down for example, something like that, to make the coaches really think it over and reward teams who have good internal review of plays. Combination of the two should lessen the amount of time we spend staring at the refs.

Aaron Donald Demands Double Teams…And Beats Them

I really don't think there IS a WR1 on this team. I love Kupp. But some times Woods goes off and sometimes it's Cooks. Defenses can't key on any of the three. Now I hope the rest of the offense rises to that level and we will be downright scary.
Cooper Kupp is a top 10 WR in the NFL in regards to targets/receptions/yards and is 1 foot short of being top 10 in TDs. He is clearly the Rams #1 WR at this point and if he continues should be considered a top 10 NFL/Pro Bowl WR at the end of this year.

This is a SuperBowl type Defense

I hope the 49ers are fools gold. I know this: the 49ers have very little fulfilled talent on offense, especially at QB and WR, but for 3 years guys are flying around uncovered. SHanny is the master O Coord in the NFL (and #30 or so head coach---bad, bad leader). I suspect the 49ers can easily go 10-6 with thei offense and that D line...and may much better. You have to be unobservant to not notice that a great passrushing D line, one pro bowl level LB (FA from Bucs) one probowl Corner is enough to be a top 10 D in the NFL.

I agree about Kyle Shanahan. He was our OC back when we had Josh Gordon and Brian Hoyer.

The 49ers haven't played anyone yet (combined 1-8 record. TB, CIN and PIT without Big Ben). I honestly think Garoppolo is going to be the reason why they don't make the playoffs.

I guess we will know next Monday night! Likely to be a must win for us.

I got Shocked Last night: Rams @ Seattle for Thurs Night Football

Prep-wise Seattle is pretty basic schematically tbh. So getting them on a short week isn't too bad of a deal.

The extra time to prep for the whiners then getting them in LA is nice. It's all good.
I would argue we don’t even have to gameplan for Seattle. We know how to play Wilson and you only have to stop him. That defense is bad.

Los Angeles Rams Week 3 rookie report leans on S Taylor Rapp’s performance again

I remember Chris and Al commenting on how Rapp was having a rough night and I had to take a double take. He was in position all game and yeah, he got beat on one play. Then of course, he plays a sure TD pass perfectly. I really hate how Chris just talks to hear himself talk. Some of the shit that spews from his pie hole just grates on my nerves.

I hear Chris Collinsworth and all I can think of is Gallaxhar from Monsters versus Aliens saying: Silence! Your voice is grating on my ear nubs!"
