NFL Offensive Tackle Market Could Quietly Be Stronger Than Ever This Offseason

Vaitai made himself some cash with his play on the interior. He would be a nice addition but I wouldn't be willing to pay him too much. Guy like him needs to be at that lower price point IMO.

I think an ideal combo (since Whit is likely to return) would be signing McGovern in FA then lucking out with Ruiz who can compete at OG or back up Center.

No Fowler & Littleton Front 7

Not trying for anything. Our offensive line was night and day without Saffold. Our offense was night and day without Gurley. Of course the natural reaction is 'well without a good O line, running backs don't look as good'. But I ain't buying that in this case. Was Rodger excellent on screens and swing passes?....because Gurley seems unable to catch them without Rodger blocking for him.

He did not look the same after his 2018 injury. I think Gurley still has something to prove & your Roger Saffold being as great as he is okay.
When it came to the 4th qrt against KC, what happened? Saffold gave up a big sack. Tannahill has wheels as well.

Ok let's try for Trent Williams

You know he is a 7 time pro bowler. If you took time to read what happened with Williams you would know he had cancer in the head area and he feels the skins mis diagnosed the cancer. He stated away from the team all last year out of protest.

Whit came to the Rams at 35/36 of age and he made a big impact. Williams is even better than Whit so he can lock down the LT spot for the next 4-7 years depending on cost and injuries.
And he still didnt play at all last year.
Missed 3 games in 2018
Missed 6 games in 2017
Missed 4 games in 2016
Missed 2 games in 2015
And now he's going to remarkably play in 16 games at 32 years old?
Something he hasnt done since he was 25?
Suspensions, injuries, protests, whatever. And still, he wants to be paid like a 7 time pro bowler
No thanks

DirecTV's days are numbered

After I move I will simply use ExpressVPN registering with an LA server. This will allow me via YouTubeTV to get all the major network LA local channels. This will allow me to simply follow the Rams as if I were an LA resident. I don't have a smart flat panel so I will simply buy a Firestick for under $40 and I will be all set to follow the Rams on both my computer and TV. The total cost will be about the same as basic cable tv with internet and be able to tap into all the online options for movies and sports. DirectTV was great back in the day but the evolution of online options makes them increasingly obsolete. Yeah, I'm old but not completely technically challenged. ;)

Week One starting quarterback turnover could top half the league in 2020

Week One starting quarterback turnover could top half the league in 2020

In Week One of the 2019 season, more than a third of the league had a different starting quarterback than it had a year earlier. But if one-third turnover among starting quarterbacks sounds high, it’s likely to be eclipsed in 2020.

This year, it’s possible that more than half of the league could have a different starting quarterback than it had a year ago.

The 11 teams that had a different starting quarterback in 2019 than they had in 2018 were the Cardinals (Sam Bradford to Kyler Murray), Ravens (Joe Flacco to Lamar Jackson), Bills (Nathan Petermanto Josh Allen), Browns (Tyrod Taylor to Baker Mayfield), Broncos (Case Keenum to Flacco), Colts (Andrew Luck to Jacoby Brissett), Jaguars (Blake Bortles to Nick Foles), Dolphins (Ryan Tannehill to Ryan Fitzpatrick), Eagles (Foles to Carson Wentz), Buccaneers (Fitzpatrick to Jameis Winston) and Washington (Alex Smith to Keenum). That sounds like a lot of turnover at the quarterback position, but it’s almost certain to be eclipsed by the amount of quarterback turnover we’ll see this year.

Some teams have already moved on from their 2019 Week One starting quarterbacks, many more could choose to move on if a better free agent or draft pick becomes available, and some could have no choice but to move on if their starter leaves in free agency. At least 14 teams fall into one of those categories: The Panthers, Bears, Bengals, Broncos, Colts, Jaguars, Chargers, Dolphins, Patriots, Giants, Raiders, Buccaneers, Titans and Washington.

But those are only the 14 teams where a change of starting quarterbacks would be unsurprising. That doesn’t account for possibilities like a starting quarterback getting injured in the preseason, or a retirement that comes out of left field, or a benching that no one is anticipating right now, or a team that isn’t expected to draft a first-round quarterback pulling a draft day surprise.

Add all the possibilities up, and the number of teams with a different starting quarterback to start this season than last season might hit 16 or more, and we may see more teams start the season with a new quarterback than with the same quarterback.

Les Snead: Rams not expecting to use franchise tag

The Snead/Demoff/McVay 2020 Ram Org has not been in this position before. There is a very good opportunity that 3 Ram UFA's will sign large contracts elsewhere. DF's contract could be close to $18 to $19 mil. Brockers will be north of $13 million & so will Littleton's.

If the Rams Org. only 2 UFA resigns are Whitworth/Blythe then the CDPA's magnify greatly for this team in 2021. The future rewards might be as high as several 3rd round draft picks & a 4th rd'er too. The current dinky depleted Ram 2021 Draft would heap great dividends for Snead & this Ram team.

Let's not forget Zuerlein. I think he goes for one big payday because of teams like the Cowboys and Colts who not only need a kicker, but have the cap space to get him. I think we let him go, and get a fifth/sixth round compensatory pick for him.

Top 10 NFL Players Most Likely to Be Traded

Maybe you can help me understand your position currently on our veteran OL'er Rob Havenstein... if you have the time?

Is it your current perspective position as you posted above described Rob's 2019 season performance ......as "Positive Piece"?

Ref Havenstein, It would be highly difficult for the Rams Org. to "shuffling him out the door "@ this time due to his contract. Are you conformable in getting another repeat 2019 season starting performance from Havenstein?

To answer your question......McVay/Kromer made the decision to go with rookie Bobby Evans to replace Havenstein last season for wk#11 McVay continued to start Evans over Havenstein after he was removed from the injury list after wk#14. Rams also have under contract David Edwards & Chandler Brewer were both starting RT's in college.
I know it isn't directed at me, but i'll post my position if it helps. Havenstein is due $7M in 2020. If he was a FA would we sign him at $7M? I'd say probably not. If there were no guarantees i'd keep him until the 53-man initial roster in August and make the decision then. If the money guaranteed in March 2020 i'd release him before that point. Business is business. However, $3.75M of the $7M is already fully guaranteed. As things stand the question for August becomes is he worth $3.25M? He probably will be. Since we pay the guaranteed $3.75M on March 15 the question is whether another team would be willing to take on the whole contract before that date? If not what is he worth as a trade piece after that date with a $3.25M salary. Judging by the Talib trade with the Dolphins, $4M of cap space is worth about a 4th round pick in 2021, (which equates to a lower pick in 2020). If we're trading him after paying the guarantee that's how much his trade price should go up by. Prior to paying the guarantee his trade price could be a negative number.

Obviously any trade would be influenced by whether we had an alternative at RT. I think the influence is fairly low as I think several players could fill in at a similar standard. It all comes down to the Rams evaluation of Havenstein vs any other team's evaluation.

I don't see us getting a 3rd for him before March 15.

Snead talks draft approach at No. 52 overall

Snead and the Rams always have a plan to draft certain players. When it's time for the Rams to pick at 52 they could have a group of players they like and believe one will be around later if they trade down. I see the same thing happening this year. I think they like to get a player that can contribute in the first year. It could be that a player they have a grade much higher than the rest of the group and they stay to take that player.

How bad was the Rams 2019 offense, really?

Personally, once McVay figured out how to get the TE involved, our offense was actually really good.

He may have wanted to earlier, but this came about after Edwards/Evans settled in too.

Dallas and Baltimore had very good to great offensive lines

I've always hated how Dallas is smart enough to never fall behind in their OL development.

The Known CHEATERS... Cheatriots & Astros

3 offensive points. 8 punts. The offense sucked that day.
And for a fixed game, not sure why the refs didnt blow the whistle on the Rams opening fumble return TD, seems risky to "let' them have that early lead, no?
Either way, this horse has been beat to death, repeating the same stuff over and over. I'm out

You didn't address the people in New York. You seem fixated on the rams offense, it's a team game.

We all know the offense was off that day. But so was the stealers offense. And they got 14 free points from the fucks in New York and the rams were stolen 7 points at the end by the same jerks. Plus an obvious turnover to the rams at halfway wasn't given to them.

How many blatant game changing calls going one way have to happen before you start to go hmmmmm?
