Micah Kiser on the Jim Rome Show today coming up 3rd hour

Nice interview. I've long since forgiven Rome. If I can forgive Everett for that mistake he made vs the whiners, I can forgive Rome for that mistake he did on air (yes he later apologized on camera). As a frequent gym goer I love Rome's Gym Guy rant on youtube. I also laugh out loud at the dubbed in bitch screams for help during another upload of the on-air takedown. Rome had some nice segments on the Rams during 2018. I also enjoy seeing Everett and other former Rams on the few times I visit twitter. So yeah, no feelings hurt either way.

Somewhat related to the incident: back in 1995 when the Rams first acquired QB Chris Miller, a very good Oregon QB and potentially good NFL QB who was with a bad Falcon team, in one of his earliest interviews the reporter mentioned You Can Call him Chris and he went along with the gag and replied "Yes, you can call me Chris."

Back to the Kiser subject, looking forward to seeing more excellent LB play today.

Better late than never - Aldon Smith fined

Screw that!
Thats at least the third time I’ve seen Jared Goff get hit square in the head and no call.
if that’s brady, Brees or Wilson...Aldon Smith is out of the league again. I remember at least three times Brady doesn’t get touched and gets some kind of call.
i don’t know if it’s lack of respect for Goff or the refs are just knuckleheads.

They didn't call Mike Vrabel's blow to Kurt Warner's head in the Super Bowl either that led to an interception and Patriot TD, so for me, all others pale in comparison.

What we learned from Sean McDermott about Bills-Rams week

I was reading a Bills fan site and it said that on Friday McDermott said that they still aren’t sure if they will have to put Tremaine Edmunds on IR. That’s the first I heard this.

Matt Milano was full go in practice.

Tredavios White was injured last week and was supposed to play this weekend. This situation is similar to Darius’ in that both will be playing a little banged up. So it could be a wash there.

Micah Kiser NFC Defensive Player of the Week!

I do love to see the players flip the script. When SJD did it I was very skeptical prior to the season but he's a solid NT for us now. Not a great player by any means but he's solid in his role. Looks like Kiser is doing it this year and it's great to see. Even if he's just a solid ILB for us that is a big deal for this season.

Some of us might not make glowing posts about every player on the roster, but when they deserve the accolades it's important to give them that cred I think. He certainly deserves it and it was nice seeing him get some media play too. (y)

Week 2 O-line Grades

There is no question that Joseph Noteboom had much to offer Kromer @ LG over David Edwards/ Austin Corbett/ Shelton Coleman/ Tremayne Anchrum in McVays outside zone running offense.

JN is very smart & coachable. He does have much quicker feet & better pulling speed than any of the Rams OL'ers. It just seemed to me that JN could not get it all working togehter in his 1 1/2 gms this season. This 2nd injury was the last thing JN needed to happen after all he had gone through last season with being unable to complete no more than 5 starts.

David Edward's skills & talents just do not fit McVay's scheme as well but Edwards is much generally better in all the need areas in blocking for Goff than JN. Edwards still needs to work hard on skills to fit what Kromer needs to make McVay offense sucessfull. I do beleive that Edwards can do it with Andrew Whitworth by his side in tandem. Edwards is used to haveing Austin Blythe next to him after all his starts with him @ RG.

Shelton Coleman has been the main backup center @ this point & does haved some talents to start @ LG if needed for a very short period of time. At this time I am not certain just how Tremayne Anchrum will fit in this OL blocking scheme

Big Whit appreciation

Good job.

I was just trying to think of an example ... any example ... because I thought that what Oldnotdead was proposing was unrealistic.

Not surprised that there was an example from 50 years ago in HOF Forrest Gregg. As I had posted it may have occurred back-in-the-day. I think Norm Van Brocklin May have even been named the Vikings’ Head Coach the year after he retired. However, that was 60 years ago.

Even though it was almost 40 years ago, the Art Shell example was dead on. However, I will stick with the opinion that it’s not realistic to hope for Whitworth to be the Rams’ OL Coach next year.

Thanks. Just to correct things, I just came across some info (football reference) that Art Shell and Sam Boghosian were both coaching the OL for the Raiders for the next 5 years after Shell retired as a player. Bogs was the long time guy there so I'm assuming Shell was an assistant. At any rate, they're both listed as their OL coaches. So I'm retracting the info that he went straight from retirement to being the OL coach. Just wanted to clarify before anyone loses a bet down the road!

On Whit continuing in that aspect, it depends where the Rams will be with Kromer. Maybe they take him in as assistant, but like someone else said Whit's got the millions, plus a family that he may want to spend more time with and he'd most likely consult with them when the time comes.

Recycling to a whole new level

Vietnam Confiscates Over 300,000 Recycled Condoms for Sale
A raid at a warehouse led to the arrest of a woman who said she had been paid by the pound to recycle the prophylactics.

HANOI, Vietnam — The police in Vietnam have seized more than 300,000 used condoms that had been boiled, dried and put up for sale in a southern province.
Officers who raided a warehouse in the province of Binh Duong on Saturday found the recycled condoms in bags weighing almost 800 pounds, the state-controlled Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
Footage broadcast by the state-owned Vietnam Television showed thousands of prophylactics spilling out of bags on the floor. It was unclear what led to the police raid, but news reports said officers had received a tip from a local resident.
The police arrested a woman in connection with the operation, Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, who told the authorities that she had received a monthly delivery from an unknown person and had been paid the equivalent of 17 cents for about every two pounds she recycled, local news outlets reported.

She told the police that the condoms had been recycled through a process of boiling, drying and reshaping them using a wooden prosthesis.
It was not known how long the business had been in operation or how many condoms had been sold.
Condoms are designed to be disposed of after use, and reusing them can lead to breakage, slipping or leakage.

Anh Nguyen, an obstetrician from Dak Lak, said that recycling used condoms was “very dangerous to society.”
“For profit they can spread sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea and possibly H.I.V.,” she said of the warehouse business. “This must be prevented.”
But recycling condoms is not unheard-of among sex workers, especially in developing countries, experts say.

“It’s not impossible to wash a condom,” said Juliet Richters, a sexual health expert and honorary professor at the University of New South Wales. But “it’s never happened, to my knowledge, on an industrial scale.” .
Professor Richters said that they would be difficult to recycle without equipment to roll up and repackage the condoms to pass them off as new. She said it was unclear what impact boiling the condoms would have on their integrity.
A representative of the Binh Duong Department of Health said health officials had not received any information from provincial officials or requests for assistance in the investigation.
Binh Duong Province, outside the southern commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City, is filled with industrial zones where factories manufacture consumer goods for export and domestic consumption.

TNF: Dolphins at Jaguars

I sure would like to see Fitz put together an entire season in that Dolphins offense. He always seems to implode at some point but I've always had a soft spot for him given that we drafted him and all.
He's always been the king of garbage time, plays his best on bad teams who have to throw it a ton because they are behind by so much. And when he needs to step up when it matters, he never does

Edit- meant to add, "But I've always pulled for him too, for same reason"

Media Fallout Week2

I have pissed off a many of parent ( including my wife ) because I absolutely refused to start a kid unless
they earned it. I always told the parents at the beginning of the year that I didn't care whether the kids dad was
the richest man alive or the town drunk, I am starting the kids who give the team the best chance for success.
I was also quick to shut down any assistant coach, who thought he had a inside track on his kid starting just
because he was coaching.

That's the way it should be at every level in every town across the country. I was naive to think it was like that when we entered the realm of youth sports.

Little League baseball is just as bad as Peewee football. Coaches ignore kids ability because they want their kids to be the star. The coaches kids play Shortstop and pitch in our league and it doesn't matter how good, bad or lazy they are. I guess its the problem with having Dads as coaches, but anymore they are the only volunteers and they have their agendas. We had one guy who coached LL for 26 years. He passed away just before my son reached LL. He was an admirable man as far as coaches go. I would have loved for him to coach Lincoln.

Our school district hired a football coach that had no high school experience about 8 years ago. At the board meetings the room was filled with his former peewee players vouching for him and parents giving recommendations. He was a tough guy and put the best players on the field despite seniority. He resurrected the High School program, but then one year he moved the Jr QB to RB in favor of a much taller and better Freshman QB. It was the right decision but the kids dad was a board member and a doctor, so he had influence and was furious. After that everything Coach Keiser did was unfairly scrutinized. Five years later he was fired despite his success and despite kids and parents saying how much he helped them on and off the field. It only took a parent here or there, each year whose kid was not getting in the game. Now Kaiser us coaching one of our rivals.
