11-5

This is going to be the season defining game I think. This will clinch the division if we win it. It's as big a regular season game as it gets outside of a bout between two teams vying for a top seed.

So yeah sure would be a nice xmas present for all if they can win it. Seattle is going to leave it all on the field IMO, their pride is hurt from that last one. Buckle up this is no given that's for sure.

Huge game for sure, but it doesn't clinch it, unfortunately. Only winning out does. Which we need to do regardless. Losing to the Jet's F'd that up..

A good read on the Rams draft strategy

Most teams don’t really try it past the 50 or so, the thing was he threw it completely out of the end zone. It’s kind of a meaningless stat, if there’s little pass rush and a guy gets a running start how far can he throw it. I’m sure there are guys with bigger arms than mayfield, they just haven’t done it during a game and why not make it completed pass to eliminate Hail Mary bs like this.

I’d expect it wouldn’t take much of a running start for some of the bigger armed QBs. My 13 year old son can throw 50 yards with reasonable accuracy and no running start. (That’s without pads.)

Memento's Post-Thanksgiving (Fuck it) Mock Offseason.

Just farting around on Xmas eve.

Have a few takes. Gonna use Mem's mock as the template including retains and releases, except I have no trades and 1 signing.

Cut:

Justin Lawler
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo

(Both Lawler and Okoronkwo have injury issues. Young has come on and Nick Scott is getting more time and slowly improving.

Re-sign:

Matthew Gay - 3 years, 1.5 million per year.
Darious Williams - RFA (first round tender).
Johnny Mundt - RFA (original round tender)
Natrez Patrick - RFA (original round tender)
Coleman Shelton - ERFA
Travin Howard - ERFA
Raymond Calais - ERFA
JuJu Hughes - ERFA

(Gay, in my opinion, should be the kicker of the future. Williams gets a first round tender. The rest are RFAs and ERFAs, so I see no reason not to re-sign them.) AGREE with all of these.

Release:

Leonard Floyd
Troy Hill
Gerald Everett
Malcolm Brown
Josh Reynolds
Samson Ebukam
Austin Blythe
Morgan Fox
Kai Forbath

Jake McQuaide and Derek Rivers I think stay. I ride McQuaide until his hand falls off and I still think Staley wants to see what they have in Rivers.

If there's ANY way for us to keep JJIII, we do it. I don't think they'll let the cap sink as low as has been projected and I'm just not ready to mock JJIII's departure, just yet. I'd LOVE to keep Floyd, but I'm coming to recognize that's not likely to happen.

Sign:

Yannick Ngakoue: for the third year in a row, we sign a very good Edge to rehab on a 1 year deal. He hasn't worked out in Minny, but that's not b/c of talent. In this D, he would be the best of the three we've signed.

Draft:

2nd: Warren Jackson, WR 6'6" 215, Colorado State. Not a burner, but he's a high-pointer like few others. His comp is AJ Green. Can run most routes, and is quick while also being a long strider. Produced in college without a great QB. Goes from one Ram team to another. If Jackson had put up his numbers at a power 5 school, he's a first rounder. STEAL at this spot even as folks will say he's over drafted. He's not. Also, I think Scary Terry is gone by the time we pick in the 2nd. I also just REALLY like Jackson's hands. It doesn't hurt that his highlight reel is absurd and he made a one handed catch that rivals the OBJ catch. Dude has it all.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Warren Jackson is a beast on the field. He is selfless and I think NFL scouts are going to fall in love with his size and ability to come down with the ball. Colorado State has had some amazing wide receivers, but I cannot think of one as complete as Jackson. Jackson has the size, speed, and catching skills to be a great at the next level. Jackson will also block which is rare for 6060 wide outs. I like this kid and feel he will dominate this year. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner

3rd: Creed Humphrey, C 6'5" 325, Oklahoma. Solid base and former wrestler allows him to take on NTs. Solid in pass pro and run blocking, although he's tentative getting to the second level and may struggle with slippery, smaller, faster ILBs. He's stout at the point of attack and strong enough to hold up against bull rushes. Biggest issue is that he's left handed, so will need extra time with Goff to ensure no issues with either under center or in shotgun since ball rotates the opposite way.

3rd comp: Chazz Surratt, ILB 6'3" 230, North Carolina I've seen him mocked as high as the 2nd round which I think is much too high, but I don't think he makes it to the 4th round, either. I also think the OLBs mocked are LONG gone by the 3rd round, esp Tryon with his prototypical body type for the edge position. Happens every year. I could see switching our 3rd round picks.

4th comp: Elerson Smith, OLB 6'7" 245, Northern Iowa. Small school allows Elerson to slip, but his production in 2019 was so good that he's a steal here. 14 sacks including 13 solo sacks in 2019 along with 5 FF shows this kid. He's got room on his frame to gain more weight.

6th: Zach Davidson, TE 6'7" 245, Central Missouri. They didn't play in 2020 which allows us to hope he falls. Dude BALLED OUT in 2019 with 15 TDs on 40 catches for 894 yds. He's absolutely an endzone threat.

7th: Josh Ball, OT 6'8" 380, Marshall. Dude is a mountain of a man and McVay has proven that if they take someone, they can keep them on the straight and narrow. He may need a year as a backup, but then next year, we ship out Havenstein and run behind this dude at RT

Opposing View: Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says Rams defense "has been very consistent" since Week 10

Has Pete Carroll learned nothing? Russell Wilson praised Aaron a couple seasons ago, and Aaron felt obliged to live up to that praise by sacking Russell four times. Now Pete Carroll wants to commit the same mistake. You just KNOW Aaron is gonna bring it now, even if his teammates end up with the gaudy stats, we all know who makes the LA defensive front six|seven hum when the mad sack attack begins.

I'm still waiting for the Leprechaun to unleash Van Jefferson this regular season, unless Sean has seen enough to withhold the unleashing for the post season. I don't know what the hell they are doing with Cam and all these alleged injuries, but Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson better be ready to rock & roll against the Seattle D this weekend. The Leprechaun must! have his revenge against the doubters. Who cares if we are in the strongest division if that division cannot produce a Super Bowl Winner?

First Look: Rams travel to Seahawks for final road game of regular season with NFC West and playoff implications at stake

The Rams (9-5) travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks (10-4) on Sunday to wrap up their 2020 road schedule, with division and playoff implications on the line. Kickoff from Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington, is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. pacific time on FOX.

In advance of the contest, here is your first look at Rams-Seahawks on Dec. 27, including notable Seahawks additions, some of Seattle's top statistical performers in Week 15 and key storylines.

Notable Seahawks additions

Activated WR Josh Gordon from the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list on Monday. After being issued an indefinite suspension following Week 15 of the 2019 season, Gordon was conditionally reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Dec. 3, making him eligible to return for Seattle's final two regular season games (couldn't practice, travel with the team or attend games until Monday, December 21). Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters this week that "we're planning during the week like he has a chance to contribute," and if Gordon indeed does play as expected, he'll provide quarterback Russell Wilson with another explosive target.
Signed OT Chad Wheeler from the practice squad to the active roster on Dec. 12. With injuries depleting depth at the position, the Seahawks turned to Weaver for reinforcements. The former USC standout ended up playing 60 percent of Seattle's offensive snaps against the New York Jets that week after starter Brandon Shell left the game in the first half with an ankle injury. While Wheeler saw just four against Washington last week after regular backup Cedric Ogbuehi returned from a calf injury, he's still worth mentioning as a key reserve.
Top performers in Week 15

Wilson completed 18 of 27 pass attempts for 121 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Seahawks' 20-15 win over the Washington Football Team, also rushing six times for 52 yards.

RB Chris Carson paced Seattle's backfield with 15 carries for 63 yards, both game-highs. RB Carlos Hyde added two carries for 55 yards, the bulk of that production coming on a 50-yard touchdown run.

WR D.K. Metcalf led the Seahawks receivers with five receptions for 43 yards. TE Jacob Hollister (two for 17) was on the receiving end of Wilson's lone touchdown pass.

Defensively, LB Bobby Wagner tallied a team-high 13 total tackles, while CBs D.J. Reed and Shaquill Griffin each finished with an interception.

On special teams, K Jason Myers made both of his field goal attempts (long of 43) and both of his extra point attempts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

Already in possession of a playoff berth after last week's win over Washington, the Seahawks can clinch the division title with a win. Though their hopes of potentially getting the No. 1 seed in the NFC are slim, a win would also keep those chances alive.

While the Rams can clinch a playoff berth before Sunday's 1:25 p.m. PT kickoff, a win would avoid needing to count on other teams to get them into the postseason. A victory on Sunday also keeps their division title hopes alive and moves them back into the top three seeding. If Los Angeles wins out – including this week – it would own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Seattle and win the division even if Seattle bounced back and won its Week 17 game to finish with an identical overall and division record.

Simply put, both teams have a lot to play for on Sunday.

Reeder yesterday

I'd wager the Jets will try to trade down, but they won't get a King's Ransom for the pick unless it's a big move.

Unless the OSU QB goes gangbusters in the next 2 games, he may not even go #2 overall.

I think they trade down and continue to stockpile picks.

And I will leave it to the Jets to find the busts in the 1st round. They're truffle hunters like that... they can dig up the best of the busts...

Maybe they're busts because they go to the Jets.

.

Just a few more thoughts, and I can't stop thinking about the game...

2

2 of those 3 plays I blame Young or Reeder for not communicating.

The last play was on Reeder - that was Ramseys guy and Reeder should have stayed in the middle

Is it coincidence Reeder was involved in the communication on all 3 plays. Is he the one calling the plays on defense - if so - he had a big fail on all 3 of those plays

I think the Jets spotted a weakness in our defense and determined that Reeder does not recognize the pass plays well enough.

Everyone played like shit but Reeder was the biggest weakness. He should only be in the game on 1st or 2nd down and should be out of the game on 3rd down and 3 or more to go.

We need Kiser for the playoffs for this team to get to the super bowl

Yeah, as I posted in another thread, the Jets OC looked across the line and like in the Waterboy, saw Reeder and said, "there's my bitch"

It really looked like he didn't know what his responsibility was based on the formation. That's inexcusable. We don't allow rookie RBs to play in part because they HAVE to know their blitz pickup assignments.

So, for Reeder to consistently NOT know his assignment is just inexcusable and it may be that the only reason he's out there is that they don't have a better replacement.
