Matt Stafford Season Predictions

If you think McVay didn't coach Goff up good enough you're crazy. 4 years with one of the best offensive minds and QB developers in the NFL and McVay realized Goff couldn't get over the hump. It's so insane to blame McVay for Goff not being able to read a defense. I'll say it again...It's so insane to blame McVay for Goff not being able to read a defense.

The people around here that think they know football better, or can evaluate a QB better than McVay, truly blow my mind. Why do you think Goff is gone and Stafford is under center. Time to accept the truth and move on man. Stop blaming McVay for Goff's shortcomings. He took him from a perceived "bust" and helped him make the pro-bowl.

Some people just dont have "it" upstairs man. Some people just dont know the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. It's not the end of the world. It doesn't mean Goff didnt have a great arm, or throw a pretty ball. Or that he didnt have 2 great years. He did. But when McVay wasn't giving him an advantage with scheme, and all other things were equal.. and Goff needed to take over and make a play....he rarely did.
Sorry but I just had to respond to this statement.

Rewatch the Buffalo game, the Tampa Bay game and the Green Bay game if Goff can't read a defense. It's not that he can't read a defense, it's that he is an immobile pocket QB who can't avoid the inside rush for the life of him. When it was 3rd down and long, Goff very rarely had time in the pocket to make a pass because Blythe's guy would be bull rushing him.

That's why I believe you saw so many delayed hand-offs and wr screens on 3rd and long.

Plus he made blatantly stupid plays from time to time that just pissed off McVay.

The Seattle interception wasn't due to Goff not reading the defense and the SF fumble wasn't due to not reading the defense.

It was because Goff made stupid ass decisions on those two plays.

Plus he made stupid decisions against Miami.

Since he is no longer a Ram, I am only hoping for his sake because he seems like a good guy that he mentally grows up in his Football decisions otherwise he won't be much longer be in the game as a starting QB.

As many people have said, the sixth season is when a QB really comes into his own. This is his make or break season with Detroit. They will probably still lose a lot of games since they are a crappy team but Goff better show that he has learned the game.

Ranking the Top 5 Receiver Duos in the NFL Entering 2021

It's weird to see what the Seahawks are building in that WR room. Metcalf alone is probably going to be the best WR in the league here soon. Then they have Eskridge added to Lockett for a real nice trio when they run 11.

And they're a team with a coach who knows the value of the run game. I think schematically he's behind the rest of the division but I do respect him and his overall leadership and whatnot. But it's weird to see a guy like him with what may be the best top 3 wideouts in the division.

Metcalf, Lockett, Eskridge looks tough. Damn, the NFCW is stacked. Let’s hope Eskridge is a flop.

Jefferson and Theilen my first pass thru this list jumped out as a top tough duo.

"That Don't Impress Me Much" [Dre Fogg Lyrics]

I’ve known a few guys who could sling it good.
But you’ve got the no-look, down to an art.
They think you’re humble, you drive me up a wall.
You’re a starter, they say can do it all.

Oh – Oooh – oh, they think you’re special.
Oh – Oooh – oh, they think you’re something else.

Ok, so you’re Matt Stafford.

That don't impress me much.
So you go the arm, but have you got the touch?
Now don't get me wrong, yeah, I think you're all right.
But that won't keep me warm on a Detroit night.

That one is nice Loyal. But it doesn't compare to this gem below! Red Zone TD throw. No look fitted in a tiny window in between 3 defenders lol. Shit like this is just nuts. As simple as the throw today to Kupp looked, that was a super tough throw. Moving left and throwing back across his body with a sidearm flick, not being able to step into the throw. Perfect placement where Kupp could go up and get it. Just beautiful.

In which preseasons were you most confident?

Certainly 2000, 2001 and 2002 come to mind and are the most obvious. I was confident in 1978 after they canned Ground Chuck and promoted Malavasi. I was sure Elvis Peacock was going to thrive on the Rams. I was confident in 1987 after making the PS with rookie Everett in 86 and having E.D. but the damn strike ruined that. I was confident in 1990 after getting to the NFC Championship Game in 89. I was confident Fisher had us on course in 2013, because 7-9 in 2012 felt like 12-4 after years of crappy football. I was confident in 2018 after McVay's rookie year and Goff's steady improvement*. Definately in 2019 and I was confident last year. This year seems promising with Stafford and the defense.

*A note on that 2018 season. I re-watched the Vikings game and the KC game from 2018 yesterday and it made me wonder, "what went wrong with McVay and Goff"? Or more accurately, when. They were 15-5 after the Minnesota game and 20-6 after the Chiefs. They were chest pumping, all smiling and giddy, looking like the newest shiny NFL Maserati. Man how quickly things change. And that tempers my confidence for 2021. I'm confident but I also know I've been confident before (whether rightly or wrongly) only to be hugely disappointed. But I hold solace in the fact I'm not hoping to be .500 or 9-7.

New Analysis on Staley defense

I think Staley is outstanding as a DC but he's going to be the head coach now. So he can't spend all his time cooking up nasty recipes in the lab any more, he's gotta handle all the BS that goes on with the team.

Chargers have good defensive talent though. They have edge threat and they have good safeties. I think he'll have that defense playing very well in 2021. As to the whole team and gameday management and all that, I mean he watched McVay so he knows how it looks when it's right but yeah I think he might have some up and downs.

As to his defense this is a copycat league. Teams are tired of playing cover 3. Offenses have cover 3 down too. Double safety looks are gonna rise again because it kills the crossers that have terrorized cover 3. They just have to get a feel for how he schemes up the pre-snap change and run fills by the safeties.

My input recently…

yes, it was fused with a "bone" type spacer and plate. The Doctor said most of his patients are down for 2 to 3 weeks before they go back to work. However, I was feeling great after the 3 rd day. I just couldn't drive. I had to wear a brace for a couple of weeks.

Mine had the three spacers for the three levels and then three cadaver bones rebuilding the surrounding spine and then on top of that a metal plate to fuse all three levels. Levels c4- through c7. My surgeon said it was a 3 to 4 month recovery time, but that also depends upon what kind of work you do as well.

Pro Football Talk: Is Los Angeles Rams' roster Super Bowl ready?

It's an easy comment to make that the trading away of first-round picks leads to a lack of depth. A lot of depth depends on other picks, free agent signings, and trades. The draft picks and the money had me questioning the Rams deal. It has worked out very well so far.

The Rams have made some good moves with free agents starting from Woods and Whit. Robinson should be a solid free-agent pickup to replace Brockers. They got inexpensive players like Corbett, Hollins and Deayon. As McVay says the young offensive lineman have gotten a lot of playing time which leads to having good depth. The Rams have lots of young talent in Gaines, Lewis and many others on defense that are ready when given a chance.

The Rams are a little top-heavy with AD and Ramsey but, most teams have players they can't afford to lose. Overall, I think the Rams depth has improved over the past few years. I'm excited about this rookie class that will contribute early on special teams and could get some PT.

Los Angeles Rams get undrafted free agent steal in Alaric Jackson

OL'er Alaric Jackson signed a 3 year, $2,445,000 contract. So there is a slight chance he will be a Ram for 3 yrs to find out if he is NFL capable @ some OL position. His size is excellent being a taller OG @ 6-5 1/2 @ 321 lbs with 34-inch arms !

I would think the Rams & OL coach Carberry are looking @ Jackson..... first as a potential game-day backup zone scheme guard & second as a backup swing tackle since the Rams last 2 seasons swing OT Bobby Evans appears to have been pencilled in @ RG.

Rookie Tutu Atwell aims for speedy induction into Rams' talented receiving rotation

No doubt in my mind Atwell could be a real threat as a punt returner. But being given a look is not the same thing as the Rams giving him the job.

Two reasons not to give him the job: (1) injury risk, and (2) distracting Atwell from putting full attention into learning the offense and the WR plays, which will be a full-time job.

Seems to me that getting Atwell in the offense ASAP should take precedence over punt returns, unless McVay thinks he can do both and hold up physically on the returns.

Two Very Good Reasons!!!

Return Man

Just when I finally forget Rams ultra-light KR JO Jo they go right back and get his clone Tu Tu.

Jo Jo Natson 5'7" 155lbs. Tu Tu Atwell 5'6" 155 lbs.

Jo Jo = Tu Tu?

Somehow the simalarities, (height, weight, 2 letter double first name) remind me of a Twilight Zone episode.

Season 3 Episode 24 GIF by Paramount+

I thought Jo Jo Natson was 5'4 145 lbs

I thought Tutu was 5'3 135 lbs

Has anyone seen Tutu? I heard he was on the practice field today.

Ranking 2021 NFL divisions from first to last: NFC West loaded with playoff contenders, AFC South not so much

Am I being biased when I don't see the 49ers as good as they were in 2019? They will either be going into the season with a quarterback the coach doesn't trust, or a newbie who probably isn't ready for prime time.

The play calling with Jimmy GQ was conservative his last few games. Shanahan seemed to prefer he manages the game and let the defense win it. I don't see him being any more aggressive if the rookie starts. I think the defense will take a step back this year. I don't see them as a double digit win team. Even with 17 games.

I do expect our biggest challenge to be from Seattle. Russell Wilson is still the best quarterback in the division until proven otherwise. They do usually have a good run game. But they have an inexperienced play caller who will be handcuffed by Carroll. Maybe Carroll wanted a yes man when he chose Waldron? Sound familiar? Jeff Fisher anyone?

As for the Cards, I've been saying I'll believe it when I see it. Seems like the media are in the same thought with me on that one. They no longer seem to be the media darlings they were the past couple years.

That leaves the Rams. Maybe Seattle has the better quarterback, but the Rams have the better overall roster. And a pretty good run game themselves. And Stafford definitely closes the gap on the best quarterback situation. He won't have to do as much as Wilson will have to do. Trying to leave the homer hat off, I see the Rams as the favorites here.
