FEATURE ROD poll: Resting starters

Can't wait to get a look at:

:helmet: Emanuel Forbes. Seattle is a strong matchup for him and Durant and they will need to cover without our starting front.

:helmet: Brennan Jackson. Expected him to win a depth role by now. This is a nice chance for him to show what he can do.

:helmet: Jacob Hummel. He looked good in preseason, brings range. Show the coaches something young feller.

:helmet: John Johnson. McVay may protect him this week. But I'd like to see him knock the rust off.
Brennan Jackson there's a name I haven't heard of since training camp. I was thinking he'd be in the rush LB rotation at some point. But they like Hoecht there, who does very good rushing but sucks in coverage. Looking forward to see what Jackson can bring there because Hoecht definitely needs to be taken off coverage responsibilities. The Rams have been gambling there hoping the QB gets hurried before they can expose him, with some undesired results.

Saquon Barkley on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s record, and faces bad run defenses ahead

.

I have to say, it would be pretty selfish of Barkley if he made his oline play and put them in harms way just to break an individual record. Unless he wants to try it with the backup oline.

.
Yeah… The key factor may be how many starters would have to play against a highly stacked box to make it happen. I still have to wonder how the rest of the team feels about it.

It’s interesting to think about it in context of McVay. Sean elected to let Puca get his record and then immediately pulled him. You know the whole team wanted him to get those records.
I will add, he plays, he doesn't get the record, he then plays poorly in the playoff game and they lose, and then the fans say he sucks and want him traded.
Dibs” - Sean McVay

Jeanty vs. Penn State, Carter, Warren - anybody watching?

Outstanding is a bit generous a term imo. PSU rushed for 292 yards against them. Thats not great defense.
Penn St. 297 (8.7)
Boise 221 (6.7)
Purdue 208 (5.2)
Ohio St. 181 (5.8)

But it was more than the rushing yards. 37 pts to PSU, 34 pts to Boise and 41 to OSU. That's an average of 37 PPG to those 3. That is not a great defense. Coupled with the rushing yards, it's pedestrian.

So I guess we’re sticking with Blackburn as ST Coordinator?

Our ST's this year were very average rank wise in the middle of the pack. Our punt return yards were dead last. Have no idea how everyone bases " ST's were awesome this year" thoughts.

That wasn't an argument. You wanted to know what we were talking up our special teams. So I told you.
There is my exact quote, where did I ask what you were talking about?

I bumped this thread specifically to reflect on year two under Blackburn.
Obviously Tiberius.

It's not. And our special teams is one of the reasons why it's not.
Yeah but they sure haven't been pouring it on all season, as the average number show.

New Year's Eve

My wife and daughter have CovId and we cancelled our plan to attend my brothers New Year’s Eve bash. So, I stopped and picked up their favorite, king crab and shrimp and made them dinner. Then watched the Penn State game.

I woke up on Jan 1st with my own case of CoVid. What a way to start the new year.

Playoff Schedule

I actually think the team we match up best with is the Vikings. Darnold isn't that quick on his feet so the rush can get home. Stafford does well picking apart the Vikings defense and getting into the right play versus the heavy blitz. Teams with mobile Qb's like the eagles, commodes, and pack will give our D trouble. I like our chances versus the Bucs, vikes, and lions.

GAME DAY MNF - Lions at 49’ers

It's not an opinion. It is a fact. Goff's passing numbers are better across the board. And yes, Goff is having a better season than Stafford.

Either way, we won that trade. We got our Super Bowl and multiple playoff seasons. It's fine for a trade to benefit both sides.

Doesn't make me want us to kick the shit out of the Lions - if we do play them - any less, but Goff's having a better year across the board than Darnold and Stafford are. An MVP caliber season if Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Saquon Barkley weren't in the way.

Sean McVay - Coach of the Year?

Honestly, I have to give it to Kevin O'Connell.

I mean nothing against McVay, but the Vikings had to deal with a lot of shit, starting off with the death of the cornerback they drafted to try to help their secondary woes in Khyree Jackson, and then a whole shitload of injuries. They lost their elite starting left tackle against us for the entire season, and they're still poised to potentially win the division. He brought Sam Darnold, thought to be a ginormous bust, and his career back from the dead. He took a defense that was reeling from losses and made it elite.

I love McVay as much as anyone here, and I wouldn't take a single head coach over him, but KOC gets my vote for Coach of the Year for the year he had with what he had.

CELEBRATE !! Rams beat Cardinals Celebration Thread

I thought Stafford really got nailed on that failed read option play on the goal line against the whiners. It brought back memories of Wolford getting injured on the same stupid call against the Cardinals. You would have thought McVay would have learned.

Stupidest play call this year might have caused whatever has been going on with Stafford since.
Yeah, injury is also a possibility for Stafford’s inaccuracy since that game.
