Rams 25-and-under team: Jordan Fuller

I say it will be between Rapp and Burgess with Rapp winning the battle. The Rams have a lot of safety types on the roster at this point.

I agree it will come down to Rapp and Burgess but I see Burgess winning that battle hands down.

However, I see tons of snaps for Rapp as a hybrid LB so he will still get his ‘starter status’ there and be a BIG contributor.

How Rams' supporting cast for Aaron Donald looks, sounds different

Really gonna miss Fox.
He was on fire at the end of last season recording 5 sacks in his last 6 games as a Ram.

I’m liking Ernie B & Bobby Brown. Both players are Big body’s.Brockers & Fox don’t have the upside of both the rookies. —McSnead reloaded nicely.
You add(one of)the UDRFA up front as well & the bang for the buck is well worth the Cap Relief.

A different view of McVay in a better mood regarding Stafford

How is it Kyler Murray still gets an insane amount of hype after how he's finished his first two seasons? Am I the only one who sees a QB who'll probably be on another team in the next five years?
Because he is for reasons beyond me, a media darling.
He is a QB who struggles when forced to play in the pocket
He struggles to see the field from the pocket.
The media love fest will be over by the end of this year.

Will any Rams go from practice squad to 53-man roster?

Defensive Line

Rams just lost 2 veteran pass-rushing DL'ers who were the top two primary & secondary elements @ the DE 5 tech post. I would expect last year's big FA signing A'Shawn Robinson who has made a serious transformation from a 6-4 330 plus pound NT into a well-conditioned 300 pounder to fit any of the general needs that Coach Henderson has @ the 5 tech for starting in the base. However, Robinson has not shown a lot of pass-rushing skills thus far in his NFL career. Robinson will certainly need to be supplemented with a solid pass rush specialist @ that 5 tech post behind him. That is the very BIG question to be answered in TC.

Discounting the time & training investment for the four Ram 2020 PS DLer's over the newly DL arrivals would seem to be a bit short-sighted IMO. Jonah Williams, Marquise Copeland, Mike Hoecht & Eric Banks have a full complete year with Coach Henderson.

Henderson's defensive line IS in serious need of pass rush talent. If any of the above 2020 PS DL can demonstrate they can fill that huge glaring hole with that needed special ingredient ......that will seal the deal for them to making the final master roster.

Rams analysis: What we know, what we don’t after OTAs

Trent Green gathered The Rams a first or 2nd rd pick I believe? Do you remember Dick Vermeil’s offense in KC? Talk about one of the best.

I was watching Mad Mike against N.O.’s in Wild Card game. Funny how Orlando Pace got so much credit for what The Rams did.IMO he was overrated. We can talk about Bulger as well. That use to be a debate around here 10 years ago.
We’ll see if the Jared Goff vs. Mathew Stafford becomes a thing again ?

I agree CGI is way off on this one.Preseason is meaningful. The thing CGI is over looking is how
In training camp Mcvay has more control of his team & players in a
Scrimmage. The Rams go against Dallas & Vegas. Contract & plays are more scripted.

You can go back & look at the meaning of it.Being in LA vs. St.Louis makes a big difference IMO. Mcvay though finds it important enough to fly back East to go against The Ravens.
CGI didn't say that lol, it's a quote

Rams need whatever OLB Terrell Lewis can deliver this year

Frankly, I don't have much hope that Lewis' knee can hold up over a season much less a career. I think Hollins is a pretty good option. He has good length at 6'5" with 33" arms and speed (4.5) and has shown enough to deserve the start with Lewis in the rotation if he is healthy. He was a 5th round pick of Denver's in 2019. Like Floyd who was never really given a shot, Hollins was simply played him out of position as an ILB. Last year on only 34% of the snaps he had 3 sacks, 2 QBKD, 5 pressures, 3 TFL, 1 FF, 1 PD, and 18 solo tackles with 10 assists. You're looking at a possible 8-9 sack type of player if he's the starter. He's solid at the POA, and he can drop into zone coverage as well as rush the QB. That's about all you can ask for at that position.

I like Lewis but if he can't stay healthy it's next man up and IMO that is Justin Hollins who has played well enough to deserve the start.

I agree here and believe they miscast Hollins in Denver at ILB, so hopefully, transitioning back to OLB, Hollins will be a viable option for the Rams. Obo Okoronkwo, might be ready too, although health has been an issue for him too.

Okoronkwo does make plays when he's in the game, so I could see a rotation of Hollins on run downs with Okoronkwo coming in on passing downs. As to Lewis, well, let's see if he can actually get on the field because if he can't, the Rams are going have to make a decision. Justin Lawler is another option nobody is really looking at, he did not look bad his rookie year, but missed the last two years due to injury, so maybe he's ready to contribute.

Rams have a potential steal in 7th-round RB Jake Funk

Hey, since you're from the area, does Jake have any family relation to Fred Funk the PGA Golfer? I know he was the Maryland Golf coach before making it on the tour, seems like a rare enough name in same state was worthy of asking....
Not that I am aware of, but his family is impressive in their own right...

Around the NFC: The NFC North

Obviously written before the Vikings signed Richardson. I wonder if the story changes a bit now that the Hunter saga is finally taken care of and Richardson joining the team. The Vikings problem last year wasn't offense, it was defense. Giving up 30 ppg makes it hard to win.

Yeah, 29.7 ppg is brutal. By comparison Rams 18.5. ppg.

Somehow the Raiders win 8 games giving up 29.9. :alol:

RIP Ned Beatty

Beatty was a terrific character actor in supporting roles but he did have a couple leading roles. One I recall was a made-for-TV movie (popular at one time) titled Friendly Fire.

Checked the date (1979). Beatty and Carol Burnett starred as mid-western parents looking to find the truth about their son’s death by friendly-fire, while serving in Vietnam.

No complicated story with strong political undertones. Just a sweet movie about two good people in mourning, supporting one another and looking for some closure to help with their grief.

Both Beatty and Burnett got to show their serious acting chops.

Rams D ranking 2021 vs 2020

It'll be interesting to see where Stafford finishes in INTs. I don't think he's going to need to press, but he is a gunslinger type so it's possible we see an uptick in them.

But all that aside I think he's going to put pressure on defenses for a full 60. TDs will be very high. It won't be once he warms up or figures out what the defense is doing or whatever Goff had going on the last two seasons. I expect it's going to be like '99 and the GSoT where the offense is so explosive that they pressure teams every possession and when a defense does get off the field they're relieved.

Re: our defense I do get tired of hearing (it was a common thing back in '99-'01) that the offense has such a great impact on the defense. If you have a great defense they'll get themselves off the field. They'll get stops over and over and over if necessary in a tight playoff game. So this is why I'm so high on this team in part, because our defense has shown that ability so assuming we see a surge on offense it could end up being one hell of a combination.

Back in '99 we stuffed the run at a ridiculous rate. Average per rush was crazy low. Titans started to roll a bit with the QB scrambling and all in the Super Bowl but the defense was crazy hard to run on. I am hoping we have that again this year. I love a tough defense that you gotta beat in third and long all day.

Waldron

True. But beyond that you need to align strengths to counter division opponents. I think Carroll has taken advantage of Wilson's escapability to invest in other position groups and it has benefitted us head to head.

Also his OC hires have been poor. But for myself at least I see a disparity up front that has held them back.

He has built quite a nice WR corps now but the Rams favored a DL reload, knowing the value of the run game. How will that play out? If the Rams' DL continues to dominate them up front not well for Seattle.

And btw it seems to me that the Rams moves/draft were intended to match up better vs SF moreso than Seattle. They definitely got a lot more physical up front I just wonder how long it will take for it to come together.
I think part of the Seahawks Oline woes are on Wilson.

Rams finally reunite with fans in SoFi; Open SoFi Practice

Sorry brother but I haven't lived in Santa Monica for years. I used to drive PCH every damn day, I loved it so much. Your plan sounds good sorry you can't use it now. I don't know where the metro stations are so I'm sorry I can't help you. If I still lived in Santa Monica I'd ride my bicycle if they have racks! LOL I used to ride from the SM pier to Redondo pier every weekend.

Rams OTA's 2021

I mean... yeah. But 4-50 in one game doesn't get me overly hyped the way they talked about him in the preseason last year.

That hook & ladder was classic.Just the other day I saw him make a real nice catch. He has excellent hands knows how to keep his feet in bounds, runs real good routes.Plus is an ascending player that doesn’t need to get all those Reps.
Core Special Teams guy who is a nice addition.Any of the WR’s get hurt you have a True Number if needed. It’s called depth& I could give a crap how hyped you get. Consistency is what Mcvay is looking for & spreading the wealth.
