Colin Cowherd TOP 10 after Week 1

Carson won’t make it passed week 10

living in Seahawk county is so freakin’ painful.

glad to see the whiners consistence be a hurtbag team

fuck Seattle

McVay or Kingsbury we’ll that’s a given
What is it with the Niners and injuries...do they just have a knack for picking physically unreliable guys or is it something about their training and conditioning?

What Player Impressed Week 1?

I watched the whole game, we watch like 4 games at once every Sunday. My takeaways:

Packers lost their elite LT and it showed. They literally could not move the ball run or pass. Rodgers was on his but more than 10 times I feel like.

Packers were also very rusty. They'll be better in coming weeks.

There was something about Rodgers though.. there may be some semblance of truth in the press comments about him not trying. He just looked, weird out there.

Saints D is for real. They've had a lot of injuries the past few yrs to key players, but like the Niners if they all stay healthy, they're going to dominate this year.
I feel like he didn't like the game plan for the type of D they were playing and new it wouldn't work. When expressed what he was seeing, the coaches didn't adjust and he said fuck it. In his press conference he mentioned the D they were playing and that there was no adjustment. I know how he feels, I used see shit at work that didn't work and could be fixed, I would inform the people who could do something about it and nothing changed. Now I say fuck it. You don't care either do I.

Rams give Matthew Stafford a wide range of deep targets

This topic will probably crop up throughout the season, especially if the rams continue to hit explosive plays which were mostly absent last year.
we all thought the offense would be fine without Cooks to take the top off, there are plenty of guys who can get deep, maybe not on a straight go route but in the right situations Woods, Kupp and Higs can get it done. We’ll probably never know if Goff refused to throw deep or McVay stopped calling deep shots. Regardless it didn’t happen much.
Now with a new qb and a play caller with no apprehension the offense lights up a Fangio style defense. So now the questions will come, did McVay have these answers last year and Goff took the check down? Was McVay trying to cover for Goff with the whole intermediate passing rely on RAC?
I heard Chris Simms on the radio talking about Stafford and although I don’t agree with him often this sounded pretty accurate. He said the biggest difference between Goff and Staff is that in straight passing situations where play action would be a waste of time Stafford is better, better at going through progressions, better at manipulating the defense, better at moving within the pocket. Goff may get better at these things but with AD and Ramsey in their prime the team couldn’t wait.
I have to agree with this.

Last year for whatever reason, McVay went away from the deep passes - was it the offensive line's inability to pass protect (which they did a 1000 times better in this game - maybe it was also due to Stafford) or was it McVay's lack of confidence in Goff's ability to throw deep with any accuracy anymore. Or both.

All I know - when I watched the Jets game last year, McVay only had one receiver in the first half go 20 yards past the line of scrimmage once before the 2 minute warning and on that play Jefferson was wide open and Goff was going to throw to him and Blythe's guy hit him right when he threw the ball. Maybe McVay realized that Goff took too long to make a decision on whether to throw deep or not AND his line wouldn't be able to hold long enough for Goff to make this throw.

I don't know and I doubt we will ever find out.

Rams Spank Bears: Media Fallout

LOL I have all the oggling bait I need at home. Most of the female hosts tend to be more traditional, i.e. a female version of the men. Hell, they even use the same expressions. Kay reminds me of a collegiate team booster. God knows I know a lot of them from my time in the south. I know some really rabid Tide fans who behave the exact same way as Kay at times. That's why I simply don't take offense. Kay used to work for the Bears, hosting special events. She has simply carried that on ever since.

I knew a 1971 graduate and Tide cheerleader who was the GF of one of my best Navy friends. Could never talk college football with her because there was only one team in the world. Believe me Kay Adam's behavior has nothing on that girl. She wouldn't even date unless the guy was as a rabid Tide fan as she was. So yeah I know all about women like Kay and she's not so bad as some. The Tide bitch was better looking too. But I could never get past that fanaticism. LOL

Sean McVay Reacts To Win Over Bears & Previews Week 2 Matchup Against Colts

Sweet.

--"Urgent enjoyment." Great phrase. Great life advice, too.
--Glad to hear McVay and Kroenke getting along. Hoping McVay stays around forever...
--Gay with the nice angle on opening kickoff... could've prevented a TD.
--Gay on arriving late to kick XP after VJeff TD... Gay thought VJeff was down and play was over! Ha!
--Praise for B Allen
--Praise for unselfishness of WR group
--Ran so few plays on O that they'll have surprises in store for Indy
--As of now sounds like Henderson is the workhorse, Sony and Funk for relief only

--All in all, sounds like McVay is reinvigorated and having a blast this year.

Gay was very straight on his FGs and XPs.

LOVE me some Rich Eisen

He was the first big name to come out and call the narrative, that Stafford being 0-3 in the playoffs , was reason enough to label him a loser.

Complete and total Bullshit.

This division though....

That Niners team was A LOT better than the Titans. Titans defense was trash last year and doesn't have many good players this year.

We will have to agree to disagree. Not buying the Cardinals until they are competitive with the Rams
On defense, sure.
On offense with missing their top 3 weapons, absolutely not.

That’s fine, as long as they’re competitive with everybody else.

The Kupp touchdown

That makes it easier to see what Dan Orlovsky was talking about in terms of Stafford moving the safety with his eyes opposed to just blown coverage. looks like Stafford focusing on Van Jefferson caused Eddie Jackson to creep forward just a bit in anticipation allowing Kupp to just blow past them all. Not sure why 23 seemed to slow up a bit, assuming he was expecting to pass Kupp off to Jackson, or maybe he also bit just a tad on Stafford looking towards Jefferson as well.

All Signs pointing to Fuller making a huge leap this year

From my point of view in front of my TV, FS Jordan Fuller in his first game with the responsibilities of deep safety & as the team signal-caller...resulted in poor game performance. But I was more concerned & critical of SS/ILB'er Taylor Rapp also.

"Fuller allowed four catches on four targets, giving up 30 yards after the catch – 18 more than any other defender on the Rams".

Game one philosophy

It sure seemed like the defense was determined to keep everything in front of them. By limiting big plays its hard for opposing offenses to score a bunch of points. They know their offense is going to score and score quicker than before.

The downside is the time of possession. The defense can wear down being on the field for so long. And the longer the other team has the ball the less our offense has it. Can be hard to get into a rhythm. We'll see if it was just the game plan for the first game of if that becomes their identity.
I don’t think TOP will continuously be this lopsided regardless for 2 reasons
1) we will tackle better and force punts
2) We wont always score in 35 seconds (and if we do who cares about the rest)

What doesn’t worry me tonight…

Earlier today Dungy was talking about how teams should play starters in preseason and cited how many slow starts result from it. What is interesting is the Rams' offense did not seem too affected by it and they had a new QB learning the scheme on top of no preseason.

And what does he do? Only one of his best performances of his long career. Shows how good McVay is IMO.
It was a huge relief IMO to see passes down the feed over 15 yards. Plus, it appears Van Jefferson is definitely a target Stafford is looking for.
