Stat of the Week: Week 13 (you’ll get a kick out of this one)

Matt Gay is having an outstanding season as a place kicker:

FG%: 96.0 (23/24) - 2nd in NFL
XP%: 97.2 (35/36 - 7th in NFL

Gay is the only PK in the NFL who has a success rate of over 95% on both FGs and PATs.

Impressive numbers, and much better than the guy he ultimately (after a number of failed experiments) replaced, Greg Zuerlein (81.0/89.3) and the guy who replaced him in Tampa, Ryan Succop (83.0/93.6).

On the flip side, Gay has the lowest average kickoff distance (60.0) and the most kickoffs out of bounds (4) in the NFL. I wonder, though, if this is the result of an issue with Gay or, rather, deliberate efforts to pin teams deep.

FWIW, Gay's touchback % (56.2) is 15th and he is 9th in total touchbacks (41), so I don't think he is incapable of putting it in the end zone on a consistent basis. Perhaps, that's what he should be doing every time.

I think there are times when he's trying to slice the onion too thin by half... The last out of bounds kick he kicked just missed being a touchback. I'm sure they've been working hard on the coverage units and were trying for a shorter field.

With our only pick in the 3rd round, I desperately hope we get the best returner out there unless someone too good to pass up slips to us... which might happen in this draft...

CONTEST Predict the Score- Jaguars @ Rams

Rams 37-10

Rams: 38
Jags: 9

Banking hard on a get right game. If the Rams don't win in a blowout (barring something crazy happening, any given sunday etc...) it's going to be very difficult to see them making the playoffs.

The Jags should turn the ball over quite a bit and I really don't see them being smart enough, or their QB being ready, to run the quick strike offense like other teams have done. We win big but I think our defense will be doing most of the work here. Short fields, points from the defense etc...
Nice job guys !!!

@blackbart posted his first so by rule he is the winner

College Football Coaching Moves

My analysis of Franklin is he's an excellent recruiter & class act, but not much of an X's & O's guy. He needs quality assistants around him and Pry was one of the best DC's in college football and I'm pleased he's getting a chance at VA Tech. Now, we will see who Franklin hires to take his place.
Spot on assessments. Franklin is a terrible game day coach. He makes bizarre decisions with timeouts. He’s far too reliant on having good assistants because he does not have a specialty of his own. That’s a bad formula for a team trying to climb the ladder. It’s one step ahead then four back. I really wanted Franklin to go to USC or LSU. Get a good ax’s and O’s guy in house.

Rams Stats Through 12 Weeks

Imo - he has missed a lot of easy throws.Right when you want to talk crap about his poor play he is throwing a TD.
I think McVay just needs to accept that Stafford is not gonna Dan Marino in his offense. He's gonna need some balance especially when we face the better defenses. I am sure he wanted a QB who can win the game with his arm and let him show his genius and all that but the good thing is if he can keep this offense balanced with the calls 9 will likely end this season with a top 5 passer rating and we'll be in the mix for the playoffs.

At this point I will be very happy with that. Maybe next year with another camp in this offense and shit Stafford will be more prone to taking over games and hero balling us to wins but since that usually doesn't work in the playoffs maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe it's going to be a silver lining for McVay to get his teeth kicked in like he has the past few weeks because he'll be prepared for a playoff field where balance will be a requirement.

This upcoming stretch is going to tell us a lot about this team. It's about to get nasty. Hope this team has what it takes to start that stretch strong with a big win vs Arizona. We need to beat both them and SF.

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS

To all RamsOnDemand members,

We are 7-4 and trucking toward the playoffs after one of the most exciting off-seasons of our lifetime.

However, the last few weeks have been mostly an embarrassment around here.

You can be whatever kind of fan you want, but around here; the Debbie Downer shit and name calling ain't welcome.

The good news; Twitter and Reddit are thriving internet cesspools for anyone who wants more of that.

But, here... No more.

At RamsOnDemand; we are pals at a bar discussing our favorite team. That's how we engage with each other. It's not that complicated and the only way to have meaningful conversation.

We don't desire to lose any members, however warnings and bans will be issued to anyone that doesn't get in line with the roots of our existence.

Consider this notice and it's long overdue.

Go Rams!

CGI and your Rams LOVING Admin Team

You cant blame..

still plenty of football left - right now there is reason to be down. We all are. But get into the playoffs and go from there.

Everything is still out there - we just need to get some positive momentum again.
It may be "out there" for some but without a running game plus an underperforming defense & S.T. unit, this team is sorely limited.

They "took a shot" unfortunately this season the injury gods finally moved against them.

My Assessment Of The Last 3 Games

IMHO...

stafford is playing hurt... it's not an excuse though, but he needs to get therapy on his back... (he most likely is, we just don't know it)...

back issues flare up due to overwork, colder temps, and of coarse contact/hits...

i've had back issues (pinched nerve/disc protrusion)) due to construction for 40+ years... lying down and resting doesn't work, nor does heat... what cures my issues is light walking and movement.... sitting or lying around just prolongs the problem...

not sure what sort of back issues matt has, but if it's a nerve, then follow the above advice...

again, IMHO...

PFF grades for Packers game

Sadly McVay has not shown the willingness to be flexible enough to adjust for the O line struggles.
The common thread at all offensive positions for McVay.

I need to remind myself as I think on McVay's trending downward abilities to call a good game as the HC ....the fact that McVay has had the luxury of having his selected starting OL remain intact & starting since Training Camp. Yes, he has had an injury at the center but has continued to play the often unhealthy Allen over a long time Ram uninjured 4 seasons back up center, Coleman Shelton.

I'm not sure about this maybe one of our members has the knowledge of just how bad the injuries have been throughout the NFL in the OL's, but I really doubt that any other NFL team has that great luck to ride with them. I see where many competitive teams have lost at least 2 to 3 starters since the season began.

NFL talking heads consensus 2021 NFC Championship Game

I think the 9ers can't match the pack. 9ers are fools gold. Imo

Well imo I’ll agree with the poster if they win it. The Rams had there chances & brought OBj in.Von Miller trade already happened.

Hard to say but the timing of Robert Woods really changed The NFC West. The Rams gave them New Life.
They would have been 3-7 instead now they are 5-6.
I think The Rams will beat them at SOFI & are a Big Time contender. The Rams aren’t afraid of any team.

PREGAME On to Jacksonville

Yup! Neither back are perfect, actually IMO they're a very good 2 headed attack. But both aside from their injury issues have other issues.

I’ll just say if your talking about both RB’s being good together.I’d say Sean Mcvay has screwed up not using him for that 1 more yard the poster is talking about.Maybe that is one of those issues you could be referring to?
It is looking like Sony will get more of the lead RB role.We could go into other things like SONY needs more Snaps so The Rams can get a nice comp pick for him. Also if you look at his SuperBowl ring it should say he earned it for NE.He has injury problems that season as well, but right about this part of the season he took of as a solid feature back, putting White more or less on the bench.

HENDO shows good hands & always has for The Rams. His TD catch last week was impressive. He was brought in to be more of a 3rd down type of RB anyways. He has learned to block better.SONY has a couple High Light Blocks.

Another reason why a RB may never see a big contract again

It is the coaching and we really don't know what their plan is. We hear things but see no changes made and errors made that are strange decisions in game. I still believe the 1st few years before we lost that first round of coaches that macvay isn't good enough to go solo with out top rate coaches. Is that Even possible?

Just crazy thoughts about the coaching staff. I really enjoyed watching them against Green Bay.

The players give the coaching staff NOTHING,but praise. Just wondering if this is in blue font.

I guess coach Thomas Brown is not a good run game coordinator? I guess I’m dumb for thinking The Rams actually are a SuperBowl contender.

20 Random I don’t mind leg room on the bandwagon thoughts

My feeling is that many either forgot where we come from or were there in the Fisher years. I can take 3 wins in a row, we're still 7-4. Some here are talking about firing a head coach that has only had winning seasons after a decade of dreadful losing football. I was a fan when we thought for 2 games that Austin Davis could be the future. Calm down, it's week 12 and we already have the 7 in 7-9, we'll be ok.

This forum is starting to get too used to the luxury of winning regularly and it's honestly pissing me off a little bit. The game thread vs Packers was unbearable.
