River's Post Super Bowl Mock ...

The Rams had another guy getting a lot of snaps at Guard last preseason. I thought he had promise but was cut. Funny, I can’t remember his name. Anybody know it was and if he’s still in the Ram pipeline?

Was it Jamil Demby ? He ended up on IR last season and must have been dropped as he's not listed on the 2022 roster pages. He had good size, but that was pretty much all he offered, although he is still listed as a 2022 RFA by Spotrac.

Rookie OLB Chris Garrett (No regular season snaps)?

Not trying to derail this thread... but why did the Rams let him go. I thought he had a pretty good rookie year. And didn't he start n the super bowl?

I'm pretty sure he did and got a sack of that piece of shit, referee's pet, nfl's golden boy.

That's what made the decision to cut him so perplexing. Something must have happened that made him a no go for the Rams.

Aaron Donald's (problematic) life in Los Angeles

The guy is one of my all-time favorites and he deserves everything he gets. With that said, if what he is saying is true, there is no amount of money that should change his mind. He's made enough for generations. For his sake, a new contract shouldn't sway his decision. If it does, it suggests to me this is more about money than what he is leading on.

I'll admit to being a little old-school; play for the contract you signed. Additionally, I am a bit reluctant in investing a ton in future years for a DL that is 30. Again, no issue with paying him as the top non-qb in the league during his prime years. But his story suggests it's not about money at all, but rather his role as a father. That has no cost and I wish him the best with his decision.

Had my knee replaced yesterday

That appears to be healing well. Do they rate your flexibility?
I dont have full range of motion yet, could take up to a year to regain full range of motion and strength. Right now it straightens out to about 10 degrees and flexion was 120 degrees. Both of those numbers were with the Dr using some pressure to get the knee to straighten and bend. I can ride a bike now and have returned to the gym, still have about 7 weeks before I return to work. It is already close to where it was before surgery and the pain is much less than it was prior to surgery.

Rams are not tendering Troy Reeder

People tend to forget that both Morris and Staley would often leave Reeder as the only ILB on the field. On many of those runs it was because both DCs played a light box so it's not surprising they exploited that aspect of the defense. You can also direct blame at the DL if you are so inclined. More than was necessary, both DCs played their defenses to take away the pass and basically invited the run. So IMO it's not surprising when the only ILB is out of position to stop the run. Where were the SS and OLBs replacing the other ILB?

Reeder was an UDFA and as such he's played well beyond his draft ranking and why they couldn't tender him (with original draft). I wish him well (as long as he stays out of the AFCW). There is no doubt in my mind he will be a starter somewhere. Like Goff he was caught in a scheme that did not play to his strengths.

Early look at potential compensatory picks for Rams

Rams sure look to have a number of 2022 UFA's depart this month. This of course. will have an effect on the 2023 Ram draft.

Currently, in a quick glance, Snead has a good amount of selections already available before the NFL begins the awarded Compensatory 2023 draft selections:

2nd
3rd
5th
6th
6th
7th
7th

I do expect Snead to be the top NFL GM leader in performing his magic in leveraging compensatory draft selections as an essential part of the Ram team rebuild or maybe refill would be a better word.

In just looking into one Ram unit in replacing the four Ram main OL'ers & the retirement of OL'er Andrew Whitworth making that number being FIVE ......I fully expect Snead to get two of the five back under contract leaving them 3 departures of UFA OL'ers that would come into play with the awarded compensatory draft selections alone.

I sure don't have a magical future crystal ball here......with five being the most picks that can be awarded here's my wild Guesstimate as highly probable:

#1- I believe DC Morris is sure to get an HC job offer in 2023= 3rd round comp pick.
#2-2 yr starting corner Darious Williams will depart in 2022= 4th rd comp pick.
#3-3 yr starting OG Austin Corbett will depart 2022 =4th or 5th rd comp pick.
#4- 2 yr starting NT SJ-D will depart in 2022= 5th rd comp pick.
#5-OLB Og Okoronkwo will depart= 5th rd comp pick.
#6-RB Sony Michel will depart= nothing
#7-CB Donte Deayon will depart=nothing
#8-TE Johnny Mundt will get the opportunity to test the FA market & sign elsewhere. I expect that he will not sign & during early TC will sign a low-end contract with no bearing on the NFL 2023 comp pick system.

Questionable Resigns that I am still pondering at this time would be:

UFA center Brian Allen a 7th rd comp pick pending. If Allen does not find a real active market with a lot of suitors I think it would be a good move to bring him back & have Shelton available to start in a OG post. Sure would limit any major damage to that Ol if 3 of those five returned.

UFA OLB Von Miller a 5th rd comp pick pending

I project that Snead will sign UFA LT Joseph Noteboom to a long-term contract. In addition, RFA's kicker Matt Gay & Interior OL'er Coleman Shelton will sign a Ram contract for 2022.

Show them the money?

Looks like Rams showing Miller the money, but is it enough and will it help drive cap space to hell in hope of running it back?

VON MILLERLB, LOS ANGELES RAMS
von miller

The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue reports the Rams are confident that their $14-16 million contract offer will convince Von Miller to re-sign.

The Rams plan to offer Miller a contract that "could range from $14 million to $16 million per year, possibly over a two-year span, and which doesn’t seem to have a hard ceiling as of this publication," per Rodrigue. Miller will have no shortage of interest if he hits the open market, so the Rams would prefer to get him back under contract prior to Monday, if possible. Miller has publicly mused about returning to Denver, which now seems like a far more appealing option with Russell Wilson under center. With reports that Miller could command up to $20 million annually, it's quite possible that Miller can beat the Rams offer if he hits free agency. However, the Rams offer the appeal of a back-to-back Super Bowl run.

McCaffrey?

Definite hard pass, even if we did have a 1st round pick to offer.
A) you really shouldn't be paying RB's a lot of money, they are fairly easily replaceable (i.e. Elliott contract be horrific right now, Gurley's contract, etc.)
B) We have a good young RB right now. This would almost assuredly waste the 2nd round pick we used on him already (until CMAC gets hurt).
C) Last point, he gets hurt. A lot. Often. Seemingly always.
