I Miss These Days!

They were almost the Dallas Steers!
Wait. Seriously? I never heard that before. If only they stuck with it. :laugh3:

Edit—Here’s some more:

”Known initially as the Steers — and then the Rangers — the franchise settled on calling themselves the Cowboys in March 1960.”

Sean McVay on Robert Rochell

I'm absolutely FASCINATED by what the Rams D could look like this coming season.
Best case scenario? If young players take significant steps up? Guys like Rochell, Burgess, Fuller and Long? And if Scott can build on what he did in the post season?
We could have an absolutely hellacious secondary that is versatile and aggressive.

Pass that crack pipe Peter

The Chargers have been making a lot of moves.

03/22 Signed TE Gerald Everett. Championship!

I still like Everett and in this offense, he could do very well.

Staley will get that defense playing much better. Combined with the offense they will be a tough team. They have to play well in a difficult division.

Wow - Staley brought in Reeder & SJD69. You can LOL, I think all of those EX-RAMS all have upside.

Judge denies NFL motion to dismiss Jon Gruden lawsuit

LAS VEGAS -- The NFL lost a bid Wednesday to scuttle a lawsuit by former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden accusing the league of a "malicious and orchestrated campaign" to force him to resign last October, including the leaking of offensive emails he wrote.
A Nevada judge ruled against the league on two key issues in a legal battle pitting the coach, who departed the Raiders with more than six seasons remaining on his record 10-year, $100 million contract, against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Order in the court...

The Gruden case could go on for years before there is a resolution.

The Daniel Snyder allegations will be on the docket long term.

The Deshaun Watson verdict might be resolved prior to the 2022 regular season.

The NFL always seems to have court issues hanging in the balance.

Report: NFL has taken $7.5M from each team to pay for Rams' relocation settlement

The Rams and NFL reached a settlement with the city of St. Louis last November, ending the four-year lawsuit over the team’s relocation to Los Angeles. The settlement was for $790 million, and Rams owner Stan Kroenke agreed to pay the legal costs that came with this move from St. Louis.

Since then, Kroenke has attempted to get out of covering those legal expenses, which angered other NFL owners during the league meetings last October. To help pay for the settlement – which, according to The Athletic, Kroenke argues is different than the legal fees he promised to pay – the NFL has taken $7.5 million from each team.

Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic reports that was deducted from each team’s revenue-sharing payments, a sum that comes to $232.5 million. Understandably, team executives were surprised by this costly development, with no clarity of whether the money will be paid back to them if Kroenke covers the entire amount himself.

The team executives described surprise at the move and complained that the action had caused budgeting issues because of the sudden charge and not knowing whether the money would be returned if Kroenke is ordered by the NFL to pay the whole sum.
As beneficial as the move from St. Louis to Los Angeles has been for the Rams, it’s also been a costly one for Kroenke and the other NFL owners.

Post June 1

I've been feeling for weeks that a roster move is coming. The problem is what exactly that move will be. If there is a trade in the works for Hunter, it would mean the Vikings would eat a substantial amount of his cap and the Rams would need to sign him to a new long term deal immediately. That's why I'm not sure what roster moves the Rams are likely to take post June 1.
I guess its safe to say that you dont read responses to you in threads you create? Hunter has already hit the Vikings cap for 25 mill, and would have additional 3-4 mill in dead cap if traded or released. They wouldnt save any of that if he's traded, nor is it transferable because it was already paid. The only thing they "save" is the 2022 guaranteed salary of 1.4 mill.

What to expect from McCaffrey, Henry, Kamara, and Elliot after 2021 seasons?

The League has decided to gear the rules to assist the passing game and scoring. Running the ball and the clock still has it's purpose... but it isn't the game plan for winning games all by itself anymore.

You cannot rely on one RB to carry any team to the promise land in the game today. You need to have a stable of backs because most RBs can't survive a 17 game schedule and the playoffs producing at a high level. The rules and the game have changed... no team is gonna run the ball to the promise land in the game today. The league has made sure of that. Nobody wants to watch Ground and Pound today... scoring and big plays create excitement and better ratings. That is what determines the direction that a The League will take and promote.

This is the obvious reason why the running game is dying on the vine. It will never be the most important focus of a team that expects to win it all anymore. The rule changes have insured that to be reality.

Teams that rely on running the ball and running QBs are not bringing home Lombardi trophies in today's league/rules. That's just the way it is now.

Fantasy Football players have more value in stat producing RBs than the highest level NFL teams do today. There are 2 very different games today... people who are into fantasy football, and people who are into actual football. The 2 are very different from each other. Totally different if we're being honest.

Deebo Samuel Type Players

I can't find anything about it now, but I swear I read that Samuel was talking shit about Aaron Donald crying after the Packers loss in the playoffs in 2020 (technically January 2021). That's why I thought it was so sweet that Samuel was crying about the loss this year. I wish I could find an article or a tweet or something to confirm it or show it was someone else.

This is just me but I wish OBJ didn't comfort dweebo. I would rather have seen someone punching the goal posts or doing a chicken dance. SOSAN. LOL

Talking Tutu (many of) you!

WR Billy "White Shoes" Johnson was 5'7", 165lbs and played 15 years. One of the best returners EVER.
Okay we have one guy who was an awesome returner and decent receiver under 170 lbs (he was listed at 170 lbs but I bet he was closer to 165)

Tutu has not shown he can be a good returner but if he does similar receiver stats to Johnson's first four years, I will say it was an okay pick and won't whine about it too much. He still seems at best to be a gadget player and I don't like taking a gadget player with a second round pick.
