2022 NFL season is proving older QBs have officially passed torch to the younger generations

It seems weird that all these guys would fall off a cliff at the same time. Rodgers was mvp last year, Brady was in the conversation and Stafford won the super bowl, and now they stink? I think the other factors like injuries and inexperience plus the effects defenses are having across the league have led to the old guys struggles. I don’t know if it’s as much changing of the guard as changing of the league. Finally defenses are asserting themselves after years of offensive explosion.
Ryan looks washed but I think the others can get back into the top third of the league.

What is wrong with Stafford on some plays this year

You know it's always what have you done for me lately

But on the serious side - I am concerned that because Stafford has been as I put it earlier Bulgerized - he is turning more and more into what Goff was in 2020 and 2021. Stafford is still much better than Goff but wow - he has been playing like shit in most games this year
We can't know if he's broken until the Oline is fixed. We SAW Stafford elevate his play to the highest level last year, in a streak of games in the playoffs, resulting in a Super Bowl win, with an adequate Oline.

I believe that if Stafford was our QB in Super Bowl 53, he connects with Cooks in the endzone and the whole game turns out differently. Stafford just has the "IT" factor that JG never could attain. The moment is not too big for Stafford, but it was for Goff. It's why I give Stafford a pass right now, where I wouldn't do the same for the likeable Goff.

Why this board exists

I vented during the game day thread some. I've been reading many of the vent posts but, haven't posted much. Do I need to add to the Bobby Evens posts or the soft coverage calls by Morris? Not really. I'm more interested in seeing how and if the Rams can recover for next year. Sure I always have hope that they can get on a roll and give the playoffs a shot but, right now it's looking like a long shot.

Snead/Mcvay neglect caring about the 0-line isn't backed up by facts.

This, sofa king much this:

I’m tired of them needing a first down at the end of the game or on third and short and not getting it. The tough yards matter in situations like that. They had a back that could get them that and they didn’t resign him. It worked with both Anderson and Michel. But apparently there is no place in the McVay offense for that type of back. He’d rather have two guys that could hit a homerun on every play.

PFF grades Rams vs Bucs

A few years ago Brewer was the reserve LT behind Whitworth, following a Noteboom injury, his limited snaps were well done and he held his own. Brewer became a forgotten man after this, was lost to Covid in 2020, and was played at every position but Center during the 2021 pre-season games, 2022 pre-season was much the same, ... he became a man with no position and relegated to deep practice squad depth.
Sorry, but I don't know how successfully Brewer can build off of his Tampa Bay experience, but I believe a few O.C.'s and McVay have done a poor job in judging players like Demby & Evans, and on the opposite side, perhaps Chandler Brewer. I'll watch this trial period carefully, and will be rooting for him all the way. jmo.
Oh I agree with that. I think their Oline evals suck and Snead needs to reassess what types to draft. Bruss couldn’t beat out a career backup, Allen may be intelligent but he’s not good and I’d injured, Edwards had one very good year then got steadily worse, Noteboom is backup material, Corbett was okay.

Who have they drafted that was actually good? They can’t claim either Havenstein or Whitworth. They finally seem to have hit on Aleric Jackson, which as an udfa seems kind of like they got lucky.

I think the entire Oline system needs to be reconfigured to a different scheme, targeting different types of players. Other teams are successfully running the ball. I don’t understand why it’s such a mystery for McVay and Co.

McVay talks changes?

And yet even with the Rams inept offense due to the OL the Rams are 10th in the NFL in TOP. Clearly the defense works by your chosen metric. Vs Tampa it was 31:16 to 28:44 which is hardly a huge difference considering our offense went three and out 80% of the time.

31st and 32nd ranks offenses in a game. Yeah and offensive crap fest on both sides. Exactly what we saw.
Not my Chosen Metric. I quoted.

Studs & Duds ... Rams vs Bucs

I grabbed 2 screen shots during the game of missed opportunities.

Both were completions, but both we missed a wide open A Robinson to the left for potentially bigger plays.

This was the tight completion to Jefferson:

This was the completion to Kupp, Stafford’s first read was Robinson, but he quickly moved to Kupp.

That has to be frustrating Robinson! I’m a Stafford supporter and usually ups and downs comes with him, waiting for the more ups now! Is he Bulgered right now?
