IF the Rumored Ramsey Trade is True How Do You Grade the Rams Offseason So Far?

I don't know where else to put this...
So.. Jourdan is being a little coy about the Stafford stuff. There's some smoke there... it seems like it's probably more generated by another team, but there's smoke.
So.. what's a fit out there that makes sense?

To me.. Atlanta.

His wife is from Georgia.. they both went to college there.. they're just outside of the sweet spot for QBs this year.
Arthur Smith had great success with Tannehill and I think Stafford represents a serious step above Tanny, even now.
Atlanta has the cap space and some interesting weapons and a good run game.

If you were trying to think of scenarios where someone was calling to ask about Stafford.. and Stafford was interested in moving.. this would seem to fit some very specific criteria.

I'm not saying it's going to happen... I'm saying there's SOMETHING going on.. as in conversations. How serious those are? Yet to be seen.

If you're looking for another reason to suspect... well.. Mayfield hasn't signed with anyone yet. Perhaps he's in the loop and will be the replacement.. for now.

Lot of complications because of the cap.. and I don't have all the answers with that. But I think that these are conversations that are very possibly happening right now.

Rams injury updates from McVay

I'm ready to move on from Edwards, I was looking forward to giving Anchrum a chance last season because I think he'd be good and then immediately went down. Bruss looked bad before he tore his ACL... reason why he tore his ACL was he was getting beat so bad he leg whipped himself out of the season... but hopefully that was just rookie issues. I'm hoping a combo of Bruss, Anchrum, or Jackson (depending on who is our LT) can handle the guard duties. I'd like to draft another IOL somewhere in the draft if not two though.
New OL coaches Wendell & Kromer will have 4 signed OG's going into OTA's to work with who were here last season.

Anchrum/ Bruss/ Brewer/ Thomas & possibly Alaric Jackson too. So I see no reason to seek & pay high for a UFA David Edwards to return.
He has had more time missed for injuries than just those two. In fact every time he has been plugged in as a starter he has end up hurt after a short period. That is why he got such a cheap deal to play LOT.
You are correct blackbart.

JN's Professional NFL Resume:
2018-
Top draft pick JN was assigned Back-Up position & remained healthy for the entire season. In his rookie season, JN only got 78 snaps with the offense.

2019-Coach Kromer awarded JN a starting position. JN did not finish his 5th start. JN suffered a torn ACL and MCL on October 15, 2019, & placed on season-ending Injured Reserve. JN has reconstructive knee surgery.

2020- JN awarded a starting OL position. After starting 3 gms on September 24, 2020 JN suffered a calf injury & placed on Injured Reserve. He was activated on November 14, 2020, as a Reserve OL. JN was injured again & out for the Packer's 1/16/2021 playoff gm.

2021- JN assigned as Back-Up OL'er. As a Back up he started 2 regular-season gms. JN was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Dec. 18, 2021. JN got in 173 snaps during the regular season with the offense. During the NFC Championship gm JN injured his chest. JN was placed on season-ending IR missing the Super Bowl. JN only took a total of 15.9 % of the snaps with the regular offense in 2021.

2022- JN replaced Whitworth as a starter. He started 6 gms & suffered a torn Achilles & placed in season-ending Injured Reserve.

Noteboom has been on the Injured Reserve 4 times -2019/ 2020/ 2021/ 2022, plus the Covid IR once in 5 seasons. Fact!

The Lamar Jackson Conspiracy Theory

He won't live up long term to any top QB contract. He is a great runner, simply rare there. But there is a cap on him due to his pass game limits and he isn't getting any younger plus he takes a lot of shots due to that run game.

So I think his desire to be top in pay or fully guaranteed is very bad on top of all that. He may have another MVP type season in him but I doubt that and either way over say 5 years of contract whoever signs him will not see full return.

2017-2021 winning 3rd most games, 2 SB appearances, 1 Championship

I'm gonna give the Rams some rope on this retool to see what happens. And if it doesn't work out, the whole things getting blown up anyways and we'll be on to a new front office. It's the cycle of NFL life! (Unless you're the Patriots who had the greatest QB ever and constantly skirted the salary cap by paying him undermarket contracts all while funneling tons of money into his companies.).

Movie Sequel Better Than Original

I liked Predator 2 over the original Predator. Arnold may have had some nice quips, but the second one had a better cast, more plot and lore around the Predator aliens, and had more at stake. The first one had a bunch of muscle-bound special forces in a remote jungle area. The second was in L.A., full of innocent people with only police really fighting the Predator - the stakes were made clear during the subway fight and during the scene where the kid points his toy gun at the Predator.

Stafford is coming back | Update: Stafford on trade block?

Honestly they’d have to give us two first for it to even be thesable to trade Stafford so we could then trade up and get one of those QB’s and thats if our FO/Coaches think there is one worth going for. This seems far fetched at best.

As of right now AD,Stafford, and Kupp are untouchable.

My response is - well no response except I don’t like Rookie QB’s. It means rebuild & this draft class seems overrated.
Dude from SC is the real deal in 2024.

Chicken Little, Click Bait Whore Bloggers are diminishing fandom.

Ive always liked you my friend though I’m not sure what side of the bed you...woke? (Sorry) up on, but good god, I would ask you consider to please try to avoid applying 2023 moral standards to a different splice in time, the mother of all rabbit holes

It was meant as humor (1963) that literally doesn’t translate today, personally I loved it, btw, Honor Blackman was actually a very classy ladie

My apologies, Left. I just needed to rant about James Bond yesterday. I do like Daniel Craig's Bond.

Rams 2023 coaching changes

Mike McCarthy got hired by GB from SF even after he had a BAD year coordinating.

I didn't care for Morris in the first 2/3 of the 2021 season UNTIL he tightened up the defense and really started getting aggressive to end the season and in the playoffs. And then I loved him as DC.

But then he did the soft shell shit and every game we heard about how it's killing us and he needs to get more aggressive. And didn't.

Pleasant and Lake seen to be more aggressive, man up and be physically dominant at the LOS with WRs. So MAYBE that'll be what Raheem starts doing.

If he can get the DBs up to the LOS, do better disguising and play physical. Then I'm good with him.

The ONLY DC in coaching who can get away without disguising anything because there defense is going to hit you in the fuckin mouth and dominate all game is the MAN Phil Parker, the DC at Iowa.

You’re talking COLLEGE FOOTBALL- lol . Ok
I’m not going to go the college way.
EVERYONE has there THOERY but my thoughts might be The Rams go to more 4/3 sets? Then again Les Snead was excited about this DL/DE/OLB group saying a lot of tweener that have a lot of speed.

I don’t know what you remember from Aubrey, but he did get let go by Detroit & there DB(cbs) got better when he was gone.

I know the type of coach he is & wondering how he works with Mcvay. My guess is Morris(Mcvay) are going to talk shop & let the coaching staff have there input.

Leonard Floyd Released

Which is wierd because I understand they still get there money if they restructure
Its a common mistake people make when they confuse a restructure with a renegotiated contract. Teams can restructure a contract without player approval to make cap space as long as it doesnt add years or change the total dollar amount. The player makes out as they'll get money up front in the form of a signing bonus, performance bonus etc
When they renegotiate the contract, adding void years or cutting salary etc, the player has to approve

Starting to think we need to make a move or do something about our DE situation if we want a chance of repeating

I honestly have been thinking Hooker at #36 or after a short trade down might be a good thought for the future, but, we really need to be able to sign some vets at edge and IOL first in order to use that pick on a player that hopefully wouldn't contribute next season.
100% i really like Hooker but dont see us drafting a QB that high with our issues unfortunately which is the reason I’ve been high on Tune.

I really feel this draft we need to get some real ballers on the O-Lime and RB and there will be plenty at our picks.

McVay plans to coach for "Years to Come"

Once the reality of not having Whit, OBJ, Miller, Corbett, Weddle set in - it was clear the Rams were not set-up to “run it back” in 2022. But coming off a Super Bowl win, McVay had to try which they did by acquiring Wagner and ARob. He had no time to retool nor did he have assurance the team couldn’t rally until he was 6-7 weeks into the season. At that point, it was time to see what they had and start making decisions on who was going along for the 2023 ride (even trying tfor CMC, Burns) and who wasnt (bye bye TLewis, Hollins, Henderson, etc). There’s a plan and it started mid-season 2022.

Shelton voids final year of his contract so he is a FA

Interestingly, Coleman Shelton voided his final year to make himself a FA. Apparently, the Rams wanted him to renegotiate his two year deal. The Rams will likely release Allen despite being the only center they have on the roster. Cole Toner is a bit of an enigma in that he doesn't show up on the FA lists and yet isn't on the roster. The last I heard he was a protected vet on the PS being cross-trained as a center.

When Toner was with the Chargers a couple of years ago he didn't look good. Not bad per se but certainly not good. If the Rams weren't happy about paying Shelton less than $2M and aren't happy with Allen's injury history, they basically now have a huge hole in the OL. But with Shelton as good as gone and the long term outlook with Allen in doubt Toner might be their best option at this point.

One scenario I can see is the Rams drafting someone like Steve Avila out of TCU. That would mean keeping Allen one more year while they develop a rookie like Avila to play center in the NFL

A low budget FA would be Nate Herbig of the Jets. He's coming off IR with a calf injury but before that he played reasonably well as an occasional starter at center and OG.

Right now IMO Ramsey's trade looks like it will be post June 1 which is the reason for all the releases.

Thomas and Bruss look like the most obvious choices for the Rams at OG with Allen as a stop gap center. Yep this off season will be very interesting to watch and it starts in a couple of days.
Brian Allen will be healthy. Losing Shelton should actually be a good thing.

My biggest complaint was his size like Blythe.Matt Skura is bigger & has more upside.Still will see what the Rams do.

Titans shopping Henry

I really like them bot, I just have concerns for different reasons though, they get compared due to similar size and speed
Their running styles are very different where Gibbs was schemed away from contact and Achane sent straight into it.

Both are undersized which leads me to have these concerns

Gibbs - Can we afford to draft a guy we will have to scheme around? Our blocking has been poor and putting a back with the 3rd lowest ypc after contact isn't the right fit unless he isn't used as a high-volume back.
I just don't feel we have the luxury to take this kind of chance after TA & Tutu and even if those 2 hadn't come around

Achane - Can he be a bell cow at the next level? I don't know but it is a long shot and history isn't on his side.
He isn't as dynamic as Gibbs even though he is faster. both can catch, and neither blocks very well in the passing game.

I had said before I was hoping Williams would bring a 4th rd Comp so maybe we could grab an RB there. I feel like the 3rd is early for us being our 2nd pick and the 5th is a bit late but who knows
I hear ya except we have to take into mind that RBs can add more weight/muscle too. Not saying I'd go after RB as the first pick we use but that's who I'd go after if that were the focus.
