We've all seen the cavernous LA Memorial Coliseum look deserted, and seriously low information talking heads point to the visuals that seem to indicate the lack of interest/passion of Ram's fans. Tarping the 25,000 empty seats by the peristyle would give the game day television experience in LA a much better look. Few media types know that ticket sales stop at 65,000, and they keep quoting the 90K number instead.

dieterbrock and I have been going round and round about who was responsible for this, which Kevin Daley
who is Director of Events and Customer Service for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, answered:
"To cover the seats or not cover the seats would be a Rams decision." Mr. Daley responded to an email about this issue.

What dieter may have been right about, is that it may not be due to Kroenke being cheap and not wanting to pay for tarps that would only be good for a couple of years. I wonder if it's not because of that reason, what would it be? It doesn't make sense to me, to not hush the stupid narrative that Ram's fans won't support the team.

I am sure they will be tarped this Sunday, Fox team is doing their pregame show live from the stadium, the world will be watching. Would be stupid to not make the place look great.

I agree, Loyal. Wondered the same thing. No good reason against the tarp that I can think of. I’ve been to 3 games at the Coliseum, too... the empty unused seats are not a good look.

The problem with the Coliseum is the vendors and bathrooms can only handle a certain amount of people per area. So from a functional standpoint it’s better to have everybody spread out. If you tarp things up and cram everyone into one area you’re going to experience the same issues we all complain about in those areas

This. They're letting fans spread out to make the experience better for the fan. Media are just lazy and go with the easy narrative. The stadium is just not up to modern standards, but we knew that going in.

I never saw a thread about tarping the 25000 seats, so....

This is a better one if you wanna beat a horse with class!

I honestly think there are no tarps .. because Stan and coaching crew and even the team probably don’t care that much ... the coliseum for all the history there is our temporary home as long as we keep winning I don’t care if one person is at the game ...

if the rams front office were that concerned they could find friendly media guys and heavily pump out a story that’s already out there how we restrict ourselves to 65’000. Seats and how a stadium that hold 90’000 is of course going to look empty .. yadda yadda yadda ... the only time Stan will worry about attendance is if we don’t sell The 65k which we obviously do and when Stan land is finally open

IMO, If you tarp the coliseum seats you will eventually see them used in Monte Carlos and Buick Regals as (NFL licensed) seat covers! :ROFLMAO:(y)

Couple more wins....we won't need tarp
Wow, winning will cause toilets not to overflow and parking spaces to materialize and bottle water consumption to lessen? WINNING SOLVES EVERYTHING!

Better yet, fill up all the seats with mannequins wearing Rams gear.
Where's our freakin' GEAR!
~very still Rams fans

It doesn’t really matter. It is what it is. Tarps are unecassary. Got 2.2 years left. I can deal with the Colisuem for that time.

You worry too much man. Let the fans spread out a bit. Much better than being squashed in like sardines.

I found this interesting and glad you got a response on your email.

I agree empty seats are not a good look and the media doesn't help. If you have 60-65K people in a 100K stadium it will look a bit empty. I also think it makes sense to let fans spread out and make things less congested for the bathrooms and vendors. After the first few camera shots I don't think it is much of an issue. It would be great if the Rams could have a real home field advantage. Let's see if this screen shot works. I don't know if tarps on the corner end zones would help. That might be a spot to put some up. There are some fans spread out there. I don't see completely bunching the fans together is worth the look.
