But the best song, in my opinion, is "A Day in the Life" by the Beatles. Perhaps the perfect song by the greatest band the world has ever known.

Stefer, Hurt is a great song. There arent many times when a cover is better than the original, but Cash's version is definitely better than NIN(and I think Reznor is a musical genius)

I would have to say my favorite song of all time would have to be Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. Gotta love the ever building momentum in the song with a Page solo, Plant's last verse, and Bonham thunder finishing the track. Without this song, I may unfortunately still be listening to pop/rap/radio rock. Song is sadly waaaayyyyy overplayed, so Ill spare yall and contribute a runner up that shares a commonalty with Stairway, its ever building.

I decided to not put a Beatles song in. That is simply not fair to the human performers.

Agreed. Nine Inch Nails version is just another song IMO. Cash just made it something spectacular. So vivid.
