As some of you may have noticed I can't settle on one avatar, some of you are much better at it than I am, so what's the story behind your's and the trick to finding that one magical one?
 
Hopefully mine is self evident, but I can understand this approach not working for everyone. :)
 
if I see something that catches my eye, it becomes an avatar

No. I wish I did. I used the play the hell out of my old backup tape. (What DJs were advised to make just in case they couldn't make it for their show.)

It was a fun time. My show was called Open Til Midnight and I did 80s and Classic Rock because I really didn't have the collection to do just one or the other. I did a special event once where I did the station's whole 6 hour broadcast day called "All Dave, All Hines*, All Day, All Night" The radio station's adviser remembered that one for years.

As long as we're talking avatars, I'm considering a change.

Any opinions regarding current avatar vs. this?

Um, to be on topic, I chose my avatar because I'm a huge nerd/fan of Pokémon. Have played the series for years, have written Pokémon fanfictions, and I decided to go with my favorite legend: Giratina.

Before the forum was modified and all, I had a purely black avatar that had a face grinning in the darkness (surprisingly enough, it was one of the options the forum already had). I chose it because I thought it looked cool.

I'd smoke that with my Articuno.

I remember that. I threw a bunch of random avatars in the gallery when I first made the board, and that was one of my favorites.
