If ya'll recall when Jared Goff was first drafted by the Rams in 2016 many including myself figured he was a bit skinny and sleight of build to survive the pounding of an NFL quarterback. ROD super-sleuths came to the conclusion that he weighed mebbe 210 - 212 lbs or so. (heh.....after several trips thru the local Golden Corral.....- feel free to insert your favorite diner....)
Then we found out he had an enzyme deficiency and with proper supplementation he was now able to put on weight. Many including myself again thought he looked a bit heftier last year but at 6'4" still had a long way to go.

So, with all of that background has anybody looked into the continuing Jared Goff weight saga for this year? I haven't read a peep about it from OTAs or TC so I was wondering what some of the eye witnesses from ROD may have seen when they attended the Rams practices in Irvine.

Any thoughts??

I've been surprised that the press hasn't been asking the questions about his weight. Last year IIRC he said he was around 220-225 Lbs. Goff seems like the type of person that is flexible and can relax when taking a hit. I imagine he has a little more muscle but, he is never going to be a stud type. I haven't seen him up close in camp. He is probably around the same weight as last year.

His neck looks bigger to me.
That says a lot. Or maybe not.

I can remember cringing last year when Goff tried to make a block. Given his size last year that wasn't smart.

More than his size, my main concern with Goff is that he keeps showing to be better because we've seen QBs take a step back in year three.

Is it true that you had a digestive deficiency that prevents you from being able to process protein properly?

JG: I’ve been trying to put on weight my whole life. I didn’t figure it out until a year ago that that was the reason why I couldn’t. The protein wasn’t being digested or broken down correctly into my muscles. So I had to take some powders. I don’t know exactly the chemicals. It was legal. It allowed me to break down the protein better. I really don’t have to take it anymore.

Like who?
And why would you even say that?

He is STILL ultra slight....and McVay will keep him "untouchable". the Vikings nad Eagles games were his tougest all games all of last year, and really he was barely touched--as compared to most any NFL QB. I think his whole career will be like that. He is Mr Golden Arm with the High IQ. O line will be the most important every year with him back there.

HAHAHAHAH, 222. You ever see Montana in street clothes (like 195 max)....Goff is the same build, maybe 200. But, he is a pro bowler at agae 23....so he is a future HOF, we just need to keep him healthy
Great analogy...Montana!

He weighed 215 at the combine, when he was 21; you'd think he would've gained weight since then. Whatever he weighs, I've seen him get crushed a ton of times and he always gets up off the mat. Maybe it's luck, maybe it's flexibility, maybe it's the strength of his connective tissue. I dunno, but that dude is relentless.

Many players come out at 20-22 yoa and gain healthy weight for the next few years.

I certainly did and at 57 am still gaining weight.

Look at Barry Bonds. He was a stick with the Pirates.

But a beast by the time he retired with the giants.

BB gained two full shoe sizes and one full hat size.

You can't argue with science and the facts.

He weight issue went away because he played well.
Not worried about it.
I would be more curious about his strength numbers in relation to his weight.

Much thicker, so thick that I heard he's changing his name to Jared Girth.

I'll start with Jim Everrett....and I say that because I deal in reality...and Goff taking a step back is a reality.

Now...do I want to see that? No! I'm more confident that he'll do well with Mcvay at the helm.
