LaFluee has Rodgers. It makes it hard to judge. Look at Belichick minus Brady and Pete minus Russell.

So you named one defensive coach having great success. Maybe he’s more of a McVay style than a Shanahan style. In general defensive coaches are not recently as successful as they once were.
Sure.. but he’s been a good coach. Good offense? Fine.. feel free to credit Rogers. Good team? I’d say coaching plays a role.

True enough on trends.. I just think the individuals are more important than their particular field of excellence.

It’s more complicated because you risk losing your play caller.. but I think Rah would have a good idea on hiring.

So when Morris gets a job as coach next year do we get Staley or the actual wizard Fangio?

Did anyone else here think hiring Staley was a premature ejaculation on Spanos part?

Staley had one season as a successful Defensive Coordinator, with a stacked roster and some innovative ideas and just like that he’s the next hot head coaching commodity?

That's usually how it works, especially when owners were out to hire anyone associated with McVay at the time.

NFL owners and GMs are always, always searching in vain for that Leprechaun DNA. :laugh1:

well he was a pre-mature hire

but also the chargers been fucking up things long before he was there....

so not all him.

The biggest mistake Spanos made was moving the franchise to LA should have stayed in San Diego-- they have a minimal fanbase here in the LA -orange county area.
