Take it with a Grain-of-Salt until confirmed by other sources but Stafford's contract numbers (restructured, revised, reworked ... whatever it is) have been posted on Over-The-Cap.

The new numbers reflect a 2025 cap hit to the Rams of $41M.
The prior number (still reflected on Spotrac) was $49.7M.

So that's 2025 cap-relief of more than $8M.

Consistent with that, OTC currently has the Rams with a solid $26M of cap space; while Spotrac (NOT updated) has them with $8M less, at $18M.

Personally, I care most about the $ the Rams have to spend.

If anyone cares about contract details (not sure if this required its own thread), just type into your browser Rams Over the Cap and their OTC page should be the first listed.

Again, these sites are solid but not 100%

He took less? What was all of the fuss about then?

I figured his revised contract could still reduce the cap hit.

$40mil for Stafford is an absolute STEAL.
Yes, about $40M cap hit for this year and next. Structuring comes out to more like $90.5M for two years plus a potential third (void) year to renegotiate,

And that will go up post june 1, and Kupp's dead cap is reduced, right?
I don't think so.

When Kupp was first released, there were reports that the Rams would designate it a post-June release that would spread-out the Dead-$ over 2025 and 2026.

I think ... those reports were wrong; and the Rams will take all the Dead-$ in 2025, with Kupp off-the-books in 2026. Both OTC and Spotrac currently reflect all the Dead-$ ($22.6M) in 2025.

I figured they'd push money into later years. If they are committed to doing a rookie QB than they can afford to push a bit of money into rookie QB contract years to set up the here and now. I would prefer to ride Stafford for two more seasons with a rookie QB watching for a year.

Interesting. Seems to be that way. I guess I missed it.

Kupp's release will incur dead money in 2025, then off the salary cap books in 2026

Pastoors confirmed that the $12 million signing bonus that came with Kupp's contract he signed with the Seahawks offset the Rams owing him that in 2025. However, by being released, the remaining money owed to him on his contract prorates to 2025, which means the Rams will, in total, occur a dead money charge of around $22 million this year.

Kupp will be off the salary books next year.

If they were legit concerned that Staff would call it quits after 2025, adding void years was never going to be the play. The way this has all played out is a Rams fan dream. Both sides said, we'll figure it out later and make it work. And that they did.
