You are correct, but it's nice seeing how all the new pieces have gelled together so quickly. It took a while last year before they were all on the same page and even then we couldn't keep up with a team like the Eagles because we had a deficiency at CB. Peters, Talib, and Shields are such a massive upgrade at outside CB to team with our best DBs from last year in Lamarcus, JJ, and NRC.
 
yes, they've played weak opponents. But against these weak opponents, they've had 6 straight shutout quarters, which is damn impressive. In fact, after a slow start where they gave up a TD on the first drive, there's been no TDs and only two field goals - and nothing close for 6 quarters.

So while their opponents have been weak, they have done everything that could be expected against them defensively.

We'll see how they do going forward, but so far they have looked damn impressive.

Yeah small sample size but it's still nice to watch the aggregate form as the season goes. This was the type of game our defense needed tbh, even if it was against a crappy offense.

At least we don't have that defense any more that makes everyone look like Joe Montana. So I'll take it. :D

But seriously, can't wait to see how defense looks after 4 weeks. Chargers next week with a very good offense and Vikings on Thur night with a pretty nice offense too. We'll really know something then.
 
Yeah still too early to toot any horns...See how we fair up against the Vikes..

Rams defense living up to early expectations after shutout

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Only two games have been played, yet the Rams defense is living up to its lofty expectations.

Los Angeles put on a dominating display in Sunday's 34-0 victory over Arizona as it gave up only five first downs and didn't allow the Cardinals to cross midfield until the final minute of the game.

The Rams ended up making the Cardinals a one-dimensional team. Arizona averaged only 2.6 yards on first-down plays and often found itself getting behind schedule on second and third down.

David Johnson also was never able to find any consistency as he was held to 48 yards on 13 carries. While the Rams had 10 plays in which they gained 17 yards or more, Arizona's longest play went for 15 and it had only three of 10 yards or more.

''I can't remember the time I've seen a defense play that complete from whistle to whistle,'' Rams coach Sean McVay said. ''We're playing good situationally, stopping the run on early downs and getting ourselves into situations where you can really dictate things.''

The Rams haven't allowed a point in their last six quarters and have only given up one touchdown, but they face a larger challenge next week against the Chargers and Philip Rivers.

Even though things are clicking right now, defensive tackle Aaron Donald thinks there still is a lot ahead of them.

''I think we can even get better. That's the scary thing,'' he said.

Yea its interesting to see. We Probably wont face another Interior line like the Raiders. So teams are doing the quick pass game and like you mentioned our CB's are just smothering stuff.

I like how our three lineman slide across the line to destroy would be running lanes.

I really think we are one pass rush specialist LB away from being the top defense. Can't wait to get Kiser or Obo on the field to see if one of these rookies has it.
