Poll: Keep Raheem or get two 3rd round comp picks?

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I'd rather keep Raheem as DC than get the comp picks.

In 2021 Raheem led us to a SB victory, and this past year he got the most out of a very young group.

Yes. And that is why it's odd to see people saying 2023 is Morris's best year when it's the worst in most ways (see red text)
but because Rams played CBs closer to LOS they like it better.

Results never mattered to anti-Morris people. It was only how it looked that bothered them and when they expressed their
disdain it was personal ... not "I don't like it" or "It's not as good as I want" but "Morris is a retard" or "Morris is stupid" or his "scheme is stupid". There are all sorts of other exaggerations and distortions and lies, even.

But agree ... 2023 was the worst overall and that includes 2022 when the defense dropped from a playoff-level defense to one that as not nearly good enough.

But it is truly odd when the closeness of the CBs is more important to results.

I think we all understood that the Defense would have somewhat of a down year with all of the new/young players. I don't think you can look at the ranking in a vacuum.

I am good either way. If we keep Raheem, we have continuity. If we lose him, we get 2 late 3rd round picks, and I have faith in McVey finding a replacement.

I can only think of 2 or 3 on the forum who said that.

I know I never did. I even said he knows how to play a more aggressive defense but was super cautious.

He was just too conservative for my taste no matter what the stats say.

I love a good 7 to 10 minute scoring drive, but not when it's the other team's offense doing it. The "bend don't break" gives the other team TOP advantage.

I didn't mind the press defense this year, with the occasional house calls sprinkled in - - because in 10 games this year, our defense made more stops than the other teams defense. And that's the way you have to play it with a QB like Stafford. He's doing you no good on the bench.

I think McVay and Morris are a perfect pairing and got far more out of their player's skillsets than any other team in the league. Our defense excelled with in-game adjustments this year. Week 1 with Seattle having negative yards in the 2nd half was perhaps my favorite game of the whole year. Imagine what Morris can do with some more key pieces.

Keep Morris in LA. Pay the man. Long term job security as a great coordinator under a good owner has to be more important than these short lived head coaching jobs. You don't see teams knocking on 4P- Steve Spagnuolo's door. I'm sure Josh McDaniels says 'hold my beer' on this topic.

I'm tired of coaching turnover. It's a roll of the dice we don't need as a team on the cusp of greatness.

McVay makes the conservative call damn near every time - it’s who he is.

And in the end, a DC works for the head coach. If Morris moves on, don’t expect the next DC to come in and not be conservative - that’s just the reality of who we are.

I'm a huge defender of Morris and think he's done a great job. I'm extremely happy with him as the DC and have no desire to replace him.
That said, as long as we have McVay, I have no concern about losing coordinators. Frankly, I dont think any DC is worth 2 3rd round picks.

After the 2022 season I wanted Morris gone and that soft ass style of defense, he had the Rams play. After 2023 I am feeling like it may have been him trying tailor his defense for the lack of talent he had on the defense. I believe he did a much better job in 2023 and I believe it was because he had some talent to work with. As long as he does not have them playing that soft ass coverage, I am fine with him coming back.

It would be interesting if he were given some real talent this year- through free agency and the draft- to see what he can really do. Say, for example, we get a primo pass rusher in FA and then go CB in round one and Safety in round two- what would Morris be able to do with such riches?

I think McVay is a hell of a coach but I wish he would be a little less conservative on some plays.

I would be really surprised if anyone signed him to be a HC. Defensive minded coaches are out of vogue these days. It is an offense driven league. I know that the Hawks are flirting with Dan Quinn, but the only success Quinn had before was when Shanny was his OC. He'll fail in Seattle.

I don't care, I like Morris and am fine with him staying and if we get the 3rds I am not worried about McVay replacing him adequately like others have said. Win/win in my opinion.
