Why did we trade up for Austin when we could have Patterson? Hindsight is 20/20 and that one was clearly a miss.

Or Hopkins.

If you're going to take a WR 8 overall, trading up for him no less, one who is 5'8, you GOTTA game plan competently with him. Shotty isn't one for that. Getting Austin involved was always going to be tough. Being creative helps.

Which is why Patterson would have been the better option. A superior return man by far. Both raw WRs.

Is what it is....I hope he explodes, but you have to game plan smartly for that.

Sorry, but it's idiotic to doubt the pick. Tavon is a baller. Why doesn't he do anything? Because his opportunities to get the ball are a run up the gut and a straight toss. Schottenheimer is a bum, plain and simple. Tavon will be Tavon when we get an OC that can call a fucking play to get him into space.

Yeah I'm leaning that way myself at this moment.

Patterson's TD was on a straight toss.

Now his was a toss sweep with him motioning from the wr spot. our oc has our most dangerous weapon stationary sitting in the backfield to get a short throw or a straight handoff. Move him around send him deep what about a bubble screen or a end around none of that with schotty but every game we get that same tired play to Harkey.

So it doesn't matter who we would have drafted we would still be saying the same story because schotty is the OC

Not hindsight for some of us. WR Patterson & G Warford should be wearing Rams Horns.
Oh well. Nothing they can do about it now.
I've been trying to avoid saying that but those are the EXACT two players I was looking at for the Rams. That was before the draft. Once I saw Lacy falling, I would have taken him over Warford. Hindsight would be me saying to pass on Lacy for Warford and still take Stacy. It's not hindsight for me to be pissed the moment I heard the Rams traded up for Austin and now seeing the player I wanted at the time become a star.

I would have to watch the play again but it looked like he came off of motion then got the hand off it was definitely a sweep play though

I still think Patterson would be better in this offense. Patterson does everything Austin does AND doesn't go down with the slightest touch. He also doesn't drop multiple punts/kicks.

I don't even want to talk about Patterson, but he is special.

I would have taken Patterson too because of his height speed and production. But as a coach I would have taken Austin because he is a better receiver and does everything Patterson does. Could it have been WV offense could have but play calling matters in the nfl and right now don't think we have a play caller
