1. Let it be known to the world that I very much hate the Patriots and Brady!

2. Somebody please tell me WHY Tom Brady has an average of about 4 seconds to throw the football? And many times as much as 6 seconds!

Is their offensive line simply physically better than ours?
Or is it their blocking scheme?

Why can't we get at least 3 seconds to throw the ball? Of course Brady makes great throws. He has SO MUCH time to look around the field.

Why can't we do that? I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

Brady was sacked 5 times last night.

I'd say give the new staff time to fix some issues, not to mention that Brady guy is pretty good and knows generally where he wants to go with the ball compared to Goff who was a rookie.

Brady made a couple of good throws under pressure but it was clear that when he didn't have time to throw, he struggled like an average QB. missing couple of throws to open edelman.

They know their assignments. I've looked a few times this year and they know who to block. They also seem to push defenders toward each other to bunch them up. They didn't look great in the first half in the SB. They got pushed back and ran by. The Falcons defenders got tired as they were on the field a lot. Overall, these are not high draft pick players that are well coached.

Brady is the GOAT and if he isn't then he's certainly in the conversation. He knows how to make line calls and read defenses and avoid the pressure of opposing teams.

The O-line might not be the best guys individually in the world but their particular skills are worked and favored towards their scheme.

One thing I can't stand about our coaching staff the last 10+ years is we have guys trying to run systems/plays and not working to the strengths of our players.

In this aspect the FO and Bellicheat is simply been the best at it for the last 15 years or so.

Coaching and scheme, each player has an assignment and is coached properly to execute that assignment.

It's no secret, I was rooting for the Falcons, and I'm no fan of Brady.

But people just do what they're supposed to do in Belichick's system. In a way, that what makes Tom Brady so great ... he's just an average quarterback that takes execution seriously, as does the entire team, and that's what allows them to win so consistently.

Last night was wild though. While mostly silent about it, I would never have expected the Falcons to achieve a 28-3 lead against the Patriots, and then I never would have expected any team to find a way to give that kind of a lead away.

Sorry, back to the original question, 5 sacks or not, Brady did have a lot of time, at least by comparison to our Rams. And I do attribute that to the offensive scheme (not just blocking). Hopefully that gets better for the Rams next year.

A lot of it is Dante Scarnecchia, the OL coach. He's very consistent, very good, and has been in Belichick's offensive system since the era of eight-tracks.

They do have talent on the line, too - Solder was a 1st, Thuney a 3rd, Mason a 4th.

Mostly, though, I think it's schematic - the Patriots tend to have a very consistent, well-designed offensive scheme that takes into account blocking schemes. I read this year that the Rams under Fisher didn't have a lot of communication/planning between Boras and Boudreau, which is bad... going forward, McVay will likely ensure that the different offensive groups are working as a single cohesive machine.

When your entire offense is all tied together with use of play action and passing and your QB has protections down cold, you have certain advantages that can keep defenses honest. Rams need a couple OL, but adding a good wideout and getting Goff up to speed on protections in a real offense will make an enormous difference.

Coaching getting them prepared. Man for man our line is as good if not better but they execute better and dont allow very often free runs at the QB.

Brady, I believe they said, was sacked 19 times all year. Now, he did get rattled last night but if you watch any of his games in general he could pitch a freaking tent whilehe's back there. He's had more time to pass then most QB's over the course of his career. Don't get me wrong, the dude is one of the best ever. But most QB's in the league if you give them the pockets he's had to work with can find someone open. Now, watching Goff's pass protection on the other hand is pretty scary. Give Goff that kind of time and he'll be deadly.

i believe it comes to the pats mantra " Just do your job" ...that o line pretty much does it job as do the WR's and Brady and the RB's ..i mean effectively Bill takes a group of "rejects" at WR ( i think they are all good players FWIW) and consistently churns out pass yardage ..Welker... Hogan... Danny AM ...edelman was the only one drafted by the pats and he was a 7th rounder i believe ....but they all do their job ...i know people think he is the devil and yes he is a cheat ......but still best coach in the game IMO

Personally I think Bellichick has a great football mind - probably the greatest of all time - I know you're all going to chip in with Belli-cheat etc, I really don't agree with all of that - ALL teams bend the rules and if you believe the Rams and the other teams aren't guilty of this then you are seriously blinkered. Brady has now proved on all stages that he is the GOAT QB. There shouldn't be any discussion anymore - to mastermind that sort of come back in the 4th quarter, showed greatness, a calm head, composure AND belief in your guys. Brady took a lot of hits in the SB, he was under immense pressure up the middle, but he still managed to get the ball out. The guy can read defences and can play to weaknesses - sometimes he has a lot of time, but I think DCs think you're better off marking his WRs and TEs 1 maybe 2 on 1 rather than rushing the QB and exposing a target, because he CAN make THAT throw under pressure - look at the time Aaron Rodgers gets ( If memory recalls correctly there were some throws he did against the Giants this year where he had 12 seconds to make the throw) DCs can't afford to lose numbers in the backfield against GREAT QBs.

OK so on to the OP.
I think the Pats have not gone for the best player available at each position - END OF.
They have gone for the best player that fits THEIR UNIT. They treat the O-line as one unit, and that unit works its asses off TOGETHER. Stick any of their guys in any other O-line and they wouldn't be as successful. It's the same argument that I've been chirping about when the Rams cut Chris Long. Long and Quinn were a double act. BTW - I believe the turning point in the S came from Chris Long (and Hightower) on that Sack fumble recovery in the 4th with 8:24 to go. How many times did we used to see that with Long and Quinn!

We need an O-line coach that can create a UNIT - coach a scheme to THEIR strengths not try and mould them into something they're not.

But until we have a QB that can make THAT throw under pressure they're going to get their asses blitzed all day long and have to rush a throw. Force an interception.

It all comes down to picking the BPFYT (Best Player For Your Team) and not BPA (Best Player Available) - obviously if you have an athletic freak fall your way then you have to take a look, but I think the Pats, always look to improve on their scheme with better players - and that's through FREE AGENCY as well. Look at their WRs - none are divas. Amendola for instance is the type of Dog that Bellichick loves, he's a fighter, punches way above his weight and hallway goes for that extra yard - that 2pointer in the fourth being proof in case.

They also hold like mf'ers whereas we get called for holding if our lineman's pinky gets hooked in an opponents jersey.

It's a combination of factors, but it all starts with Dante Scarnecchia. He retired a couple years ago. The Patriots hired a new OL Coach, fired him, and begged Scarnecchia to come out of retirement. He's one of the top 5 OL Coaches in the NFL.

Beyond him, the scheme has a lot to do with it. Their route adjustments counter blitzes incredibly well and get their WRs open quickly.

And, of course, the QB has a lot do with it.

I don't know about that. The Patriots run a specific scheme and are very good at finding players that fit it and Belichicks standard for a totally committed team player. They show any discordance with the staff or franchise and they get shipped out quickly.... a la Logan Mankins, Collins, and a few others in the past.

Mason is garbage...It's amazing he was taken as a guard...he's just too short and not powerful. I like Tuney...is he number 61?

Seems like Houston & Atl gave him hell. Houston really should have won their game too. Both of those teams have some elite talent rushing Brady.

Wouldn't this player be the same thing? I always agree with BPA based around needs....If BPA at the time we draft was Leonard Fornette, I'd be pissed if we took him.

He moves well, as in sliding to the left or right. Stepping up at the right times. His line seems to KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. We used to keep it simple sometimes...If our linemen needed to point out exactly who they were taking, we'd let them do that in the second half. Too many times this season, hell last season too, we let free rushers in. Our line still looks confused as to whom they are supposed to block on any given play. Always one guy or another, not touching the man closest to them, who subsequently gets a free run at the QB or RB. Whatever was in that playbook, needs to be burned. Not only were receivers and QB's not on the same page, so were the linemen.

Thru the first 3 quarters Brady looked pretty poor to me!! I think the Atlanta Defense got tired!!
