It funky not to be able to walk.. Hating this shiite.. MRI forth coming.. X-Rays already done and it was a waste. No wonder healthcare costs are so high. Just saying.

That sucks Dags, I hope you feel better. But that being said the X-ray is not a waste. The X-ray is like 20 times cheaper than an MRI, if you have broken bone/bone infection and not a ligament tear and it picked it up, then there is massive savings rather than going directly to an MRI

The good news is that the MCL typically has a relatively short recovery time. I had a severe pull/strain to mine...basically it was stretched as far as it could go without being a full tear. My knee was the size of a basketball. I was back to walking in less than a week...really back to "normal" in about a month.

I can relate to what you're saying here. However, my doctor told me I'd probably need a MRI to see any damage. Maybe it's not as serious as it feels, but this MF has been killing me since I injured it (12/24/14). I found out this morning that the Liberty Mutual doctor denied any MRI's on me. That also includes my shoulder I hurt.

I'm no doctor. I'm a electronics technician by trade. I know when I go to troubleshoot a PC board, I need a scope, logic probe, DMM, spectrum analyzer, and etc to diagnose the problem of that board. Now, individual boards all have their own characteristics. It's usually a manufacturing (wave solder), design, or component (vendor) defect. I get to know a certain board and the problems are usually pretty much the same.. Not always though.

My question to you is in the medical field, would this be true too with something like the knee? Are these doctors smart enough, and have the familiarity with the knee not to do an MRI and just do physical therapy? it kind of concerns me that they're proceeding with PT without actually seeing what's wrong with the knee is all. Put my fears to rest here my friend. :cool:

its all about the dollar anymore. i used to get 4 A1C's for my diabetes each year, but since they've deteremined that i have it under control i now only need 2. so if something goes out of whack i wont be able to catch it for an extra 3 months. BUT , on the good side, they save about a grand a year on me.

Started PT on shoulder today. So far, they made correct call on it. My shoulder was not that bad only in certain movement. She did ultra sound on it and damn has it made a difference.
 
Woot Woot.. Well at first they denied MRI on knee, then my doctor appealed it. Looks like the appeal won as I got a phone call from LA last night about 7ish my time to schedule the MRI.. I told the lady I wasn't scheduling anything until I spoke with my doctor. Hopefully I can get the MRI done at my place of choice?

Thank you my friend. I will. Just might be a long road. It is getting better but doctor says I could just be use to pain by now. Time will tell. Appreciate the thoughts man.
 
Dag, if your in STL area, use Metro Imaging for MRI! They're the least expensive in the area! Hospital associated ones are the pits! Hope you get better soon!:)

Thanks Rhino. I've seen their commercials before. However, I have to stay within the employers workers comp network. Their workers comp PPP is what they call it.
 
Got the results back from the MRI. I was in PT for shoulder when the nurse told me. I haven't talked to the Doctor yet, but nurse said the knee was pretty bad. It's not a MCL.

1. Flap tear in the medial meniscus with displacement into the adjacent inferior gutter.
2. Trace medial tibial plateau bone marrow ederna, possibly representing a small contusion.

There was a thin anterior cruciate ligament cyst noted.

This is all greek to me. I have to see my local Doctor yet, but his nurse told me he was referring me to a specialist.

Right now I'm a tad pizzed off as they denied the MRI and we had to appeal it. This could have been done a few weeks ago. Thanks for letting me rant.. :cool:
 
Could have been worse Dag.

They can repair the meniscus tear via arthroscopy. If the ACL cyst is an issue, they can scrape that as well when they repair the meniscus. Not sure how they deal with the bruising. Better than a full recon my friend. Hope it works out ok.

Thank you my friend. Right now I'm just pizzed off that insurance company was denying MRI and we had to fight for it. I've lost damn near 3 weeks in getting better.

Thanks again brother.
 
Yeah that sucks about the insurance company. Once they get it all repaired though, it wont take long before you are back on two good legs!! :-)

That's what my PT lady told me today after nurse informed me on MRI results. She said even if scoped it'd be like 2 to 3 weeks before I was good to go.

However.. I'm worried this might set my planting back buy the time all is said and done. Insurance company has to ok specialist yet. We'll prolly have to fight that too. :mad:
 
That sounds about right. I had my knee done many years ago and it was something like that. Hurt like a bastard to start with but loosened up pretty quickly.

Right now I'm a bit steamed still.. I have to hook up an external Burner on my system to do it and all my USB ports are taken but one. I need two. When the Mrs. gets up I will use her PC and upload to photobucket. I did get my CD back today, and specifically asked for it. I know @DR RAM wants to see them. :cool: It might be like 9 or 10 CST before I get them up.

I appreciate all the concern and interest. I mean that sincerely.
