I am hoping he can change that , but to this point I have seen little evidence that he
he can be a true wr2 behind Kupp. What troubles the most is his lack of aggressiveness
in attacking the ball in the air and his lack of positioning his body properly against
DB's on 50'/ 50 balls.

Huge sure TD drop shows how poorly he can position himself at times.
Not sure if Nacua is able to play Jeffersons position , but IMO,
When Kupp does return I am hoping to see Kupp, Nacua , Atwell starting.

So far the second round picks have not produced like we hope. Some have flashed at times but none have been what I’d consider great value. Rapp, Atwell (3rd year until producing), Jefferson (up and down career), Akers (teams have gotten better production from later round RBs).

With another second a first rounder hopefully Snead can do a bit better come April. Avila looks like a good start.

Agree. We also seemed to struggle drafting ol at least until Avilla arrived.

Time will tell , But I think Snead may have had the best draft in his career this year.
Played the numbers game and so far looks like we may have some real gems out of this draft.

Van is what Van is. He has proven to be a reliable #3 and productive #3 but we need to find a #2 and I think we probably have in Puka. Things are lining up perfect and all goes right we’ll get a 3rd/4th for when Van leaves. Not everybody is going to pan out to be a #1 or #2 regardless of draft position. He is much like Josh Reynolds was.

4 receptions for 23 yards in the Super Bowl. Our #1 and #2 were the production horses.

Need to draft another WR with good upside in 2 years to keep the pipeline going.

Avila was arguably the best guard in the draft so it’s hard to mess up that pick.

Jourdan's podcast (which isn't paywalled btw) was really enlightening how they're using and protecting Atwell. At any rate Jefferson might be the odd man out when Kupp returns. I still cringe when Atwell gets hit though--that can't be easy on him.

Van has always been pretty good at everything except using his hands to catch the football.

Drives me INSANE how often he body catches. It's a real shame too because the dude has proven when healthy that he can consistently get open.

I thought we might see more out of Van considering this is his contract year. It was only one game. But so far he's not showing he's ready to step up and be that guy.

Nacua has had his share of injuries in college too. I hope he can put on some off-season muscle next winter.

Injury is my biggest concern with our two WRs.

All because Jefferson dropped one pass?

as I stated in a thread last season, Jefferson is habitual body catcher. He doesn’t attack the ball with his hands. Which leads him to drop the ball more and take bad angles on more difficult catches.

He’s a number 3 at best, and a very serviceable one at that.

I see last week as a wake up call to Van. It is step up time with Kupp out and he saw 2 guys do exactly that.
The drop sucked but fortunately it didnt affect anything as they still scored a TD on that drive.
He caught 2 passes after the drop but we'll see what comes of this week. San Fran will be blanketing Puka, and the opportunity will be there

I think Van plays pretty well considering he was getting the full attention of the hags defense. He made a couple of nice catches, the third and ten was crucial.

Yeah he dropped the one where he was wide open, that sucks but he still produced in the #1 role and pulled coverage from the other guys.

I don’t see Atwell bumping him when Kupp comes back. Atwell will be sinking fast and probably only get limit time behind Kupp, Van and Puka.

Its not the first time he has dropped long wide open passes. Might be in his head at this point.
I like him but if a new guy shows up (Puka) who has Bruce-Holt hands.................... he gets the ball.
