I'm just one who finds it hard to believe that the Rams will be in any kind of play-off contention this season
To each one's own. Seattle looked to be a team in contention for #1 pick last season. The Giants were a train wreck looking to compete with Seattle. Lions just missing out? Carolina almost winning the division even though they had no coach? Jacksonville? Etc....
Rams still have the foundation of McVay, AD, Staff and Kupp. You give me those 4 and I think they've got a chance.
Rams colored glasses? Perhaps, though I hold no shame in that

I'd rather you be right on this, ... and yes, our coaches give me more hope. At the moment I fear that it will be very difficult for Donald to escape being triple teamed, although Staff > Kupp should continue successfully if they can elude further injury.

If Game 1 was next Sunday that would be a legitimate concern River. But fortunately for us the roster is still awaiting the draft, UDFAs, and post-roster-cut additions.

And that's exactly why I began the sentence, 'At the moment'.
Until the final camp cuts or game 1 of the new season we'll be largely in the dark with how McVay proceeds, ... I imagine he'll be more inclined this year to play potential starters in pre-season games than we've become accustomed to.

Major Trades :

Trade down Rams #36 with Detroit for #48 and #81 (3’rd. Round).

I think the only sure starters to not play in the preseason are

Stafford
Kupp
Havenstein
Donald
Jones
Jefferson
Higbee

Maybe

Tutu
Hoecht
Shelton
Allen
Skowrenek

Everyone else I am pretty sure they will get game time

2023 Draft :

Major Trades (3) :

1) Trade down Rams #36 with Detroit for #48 (2'nd round) and #81 (3’rd. Round).

Must say the Detroit trade was partly influenced by Jourdan Rodrigue.

2) Higbee plus 2024 4’th rounder for 2023 4’th & 5’th.

3) 6c traded for QB Matt Corral

Since I'm bored, I adjusted my above mock and discarded QB Aiden O’Connell, Pur. in the 6'th round and create a 3'rd Rams trade, ... this time 6c and a conditional 2024 6'th that could become a 5'th depending on total snaps. The Rams get Carolina's back-up QB Matt Corral.

If you were Detroit, would YOU make that trade?
I would not.

Higbee is in the last year of his deal. He is closer to the end than he is to his prime.

Rookies are cheap. There are good ones in this draft and the lions already have enough premium draft capital to get one of the highest rated TEs in this draft class.

Wtf? Where is Eli Apple?

I’d still take Nichols III over Rodriguez. Just my opinion though.

I didn't trade Higbee to Detroit, ... I've left that open so that perhaps another play-off caliber team who might prefer a proven veteran player over a young TE draftee that might need a year or two to hit his stride. I agree that it's a nice TE class, but they may not all be ready tomorrow to start.
And yes, I believe that's a good trade for both teams.
