You know, after watching that last play again, it really wasn’t a bad throw. It looked like he was trying to take advantage of Reynolds size with kind of a back shoulder throw. I thought it was in a location that Reynolds could make a play on it but when he turned back he really got no lift at all and it went over his head. At first watch it appeared to be another not so good throw by Goff and maybe they weren’t on the same page but if he had made a decent jump that was a catchable ball.

It was a perfect throw. The defender grabbed Reynolds at the goal line (bear hug) for a second and it prevented Reynolds from being right where the pass was.

The Rams should never have put themselves in this position in the first place:

1) Running Gurley into a 9 man box in the first two series. McVay should be using outside crossers, quick running back throws, and TE slants to the sidelines to make the defense pay. Probably our biggest weakness is refusing to take what the defense gives.

2) the deep jump ball to Agholor and Jeffries.

3) defensive penetration and pressure by anyone not name Donald.

4) the Natson self fumble.

5) the offensive line lack of execution

6) Gurley, Everett and Reynolds not getting out of bounds.

Went to the highlights but, wish they had other angles. The ball looked high but, came down fast. Reynolds either was held or could not get up to make the catch on his own. LOL I don't know if I feel better or not.

All I can say is, Kupp’s value can not be over stated. Rams haven’t looked the same.

Maybe, it looked like Reynolds stumbled maybe and couldn’t gather for a jump, that’s something Kupp does better, run clean routes with good body control.

There was a camera angle shown from in back of the end zone. When Reynold turned for the ball the defender grabbed him around the back when he was about to jump and it stopped his backwards momentum and his ability to jump. So the defender interfered with his progress to the ball. It is the reason Reynolds stumbled instead of getting in position to catch the ball. Of course in that situation the ref is not going to call it. But it would have been a righteous call. Different ref maybe a different call. You hate to complain about it, we played such a shitty game.

Is this a thinly veiled conspiracy to make @LesBaker's head explode...

In all seriousness the DB had a well timed hit on Reynolds that interfered with his jump or lack thereof. But that said, with a 6'4" receiver who has long @$$ arms like he does I am still irked he didn't make that play.

For a while there I had felt JRey had turned the corner and was arriving. But he's still raw and slow to react to the ball when the QB throws him open.

The refs not going to call it? Did you see the Chiefs game? They called 2 questionable pi on that last drive in arrowhead.

IMO it was a perfect pass. All Reynolds had to do was keep his feet, it almost looked like he tripped/misjudged the jump. But that ball was a thing of beauty, perfect throw, perfect spot and very catchable.

I concur with this brilliant man from Boston. (y)

Bad choice of words. From the angle of the ref, which is on the other side of Reynolds, it doesn't look so bad so he didn't call it. Don't think the DBs don't know where the ref is supposed to be standing. Plus the DB did it quickly and in todays NFL you can hold just don't do it to long. I know, I know, it's still affected our player, but you heard the announcers, he had good coverage. Eyes rolling into the back of my head.

I really thought we were gonna come back and win that game - and said so on the game thread

We almost did -- that last drive was sheer guts and that final pass to Reynolds was - in my opinion - a testament to how great Jared Goff can be.
If Reynolds catches that pass today the narrative would've been a complete 180.
We'd be talking about the sheer guts and determination that this team has not to lose. We got close.

Football is hard. Winning the division so early poses it's challenges,
but I think back to back losses will be a good excuse to refocus and get back to winning
Move into the playoffs strong.

Number 4 was a real kick in the nuts. Unbelievable.

Number 6 cost us dearly giving us only one shot at the end zone.
Gurley has such great awareness, so hard to explain what he was thinking.

Some avoidable errors cost us dearly, including Goff's throw away pass.

I just about lost my shit when Al Michaels told me that he had good coverage...total bullshit. He hit Reynolds in the back before, long before the ball got there. And while he was hitting him, he grabbed him too.

It looked like the perfect throw to me as well. Reynolds just isn't the guy who is going to time that as perfectly as it needed. Not yet anyway. I would have preferred they go to Everett on that route. He is stronger and could have muscled the DB better IMO. Also, did anyone else see Woods across the middle on that play? He was running free at around the 7 yd line I think when Goff let it go. Granted, the DB was waiting for him at the goal line, but I like RW's chances to get in on that. I get going to the end zone as time was expiring, just sayin.....
