I was a huge fan of Lewan that year . I'll admit that I liked Robinson over Matthews . Either way, no regrets here because a slightly better roster might've kep to longer tenurs for other coaches/missing out on Mcvay !

Time for a significant increase in the salary cap. QB $30m. LT $15m. WR1 $15m. RB1 $15m. That’s $75m for just 4 offensive positions.
The only thing a significant increase in the salary cap is give the top money earners more money.

It's still painful to think what could have been, but on a positive note, maybe having one of these guys at left tackle would have been just enough to push the Rams to one winning season and we'd all be arguing whether or not Jeff Fisher deserves to be fired for going 8-8 last year, now that he has Sam Bradford back healthy again.

And as I recall Fisher passed on both of these guys for GRob.

Such a painful reminder of how bad that whiff was on the turd we took at 2. Wonder how things would have gone down had they taken Mack at 2 overall... Can you imagine getting both him and Donald? Or even moving down a bit and getting that big wideout in Evans sigh.

Another possibility of course was taking Matthews at 2. At the time I figured that was Fisher's preference given his father's association playing under him. But it all worked out in the end for us.

Not a fan of playing would've / could've, especially with this current timeline having our finest days ahead.

yup just a bigger divide between the top and the bottom...Sounds familiar.
As an example of how it's broken even for the players, Peyton Manning got the biggest check from the Union last year when he needs it the least.

Long over OT draft mistakes which happens. Rams are on a better draft track now.

These contracts blow away the best old deals. OTs getting their increases.

Wonder what Havenstein will command?

PPF has him graded at average 77.9. Running blocking grade came in at #2 offensive tackles. Be nice to keep him around starting his prime years.

FWIW I wanted Jake Matthews and just because I knew he would understand what it took to be a superior player in the NFL. Understood the selection of Robinson just wished somebody had dug a tad deeper into his work ethic.

Rams fans regret the #2 pick yet the league regrets not jumping in and grabbing Donald before #13
If I had to do the draft over, I'd take Donald at #2

And then you would have been ridiculed for reaching based on his draft analysis....
espn draft experts said:
Weaknesses
Marginal height and frame is nearly maxed out. Hands are more active than strong -- could play with more pop and power. Overpowered in the run game and ground up by double teams. Gets snared and controlled by bigger, longer blockers. Not a two-gap player. Has some tweener traits -- lacks ideal length and bend to play outside.

Meanwhile, Greg Robinson signed the back of his check from Pizza Hut.
Amazingly, he's actually still playing and has a decent shot at being the Browns backup left tackle (and making about $800k if he manages to make the final roster)
