Yeah... Some days, or moments... music can hook me and shift things like you’ve described.

I wonder if there is a magnification of that for those that play music, vs those who mostly listen?

Not really related but a music story to share...

(From my first marriage) My wife had an uncle, that at Christmas would play the piano - any song - from his head to the keys.

He could translate that thought of a song and play that song. Mind you, it was flawed... but I will never forget that.

I think perhaps a lot of ppl who play instruments are probably like that...

But... Making this story interesting to me; he couldn’t read music and he wasn’t trained. He was a farmer... and my recollection of the story was his family owned a piano and he learned to play it because it was there.

People with music talent like that... amazing to me.

I have friends(2 brothers) who have a whole band room and can play every instrument in it.Drums, keyboards, guitars, sax, fiddle,harmonica.. you name it. One odd them had a daughter who just sat down and started played the theme from Frozen on the piano, never had a lesson in her 8 years of life.

Music can take you to a moment in time and let you, if for even a moment, experience a memory as if you u were right back there.

Music can trigger memories like nothing else can.

Music can change someone's mood better than most drugs. Music can make endorphins rush through your body, causing momentary highs. It can give you an adrenaline rush in the gym.

I dont know if its a savior for the world. But for so many....it helps us cope and gets us through all the static of our everyday lives.

I'll add to this.

I've been playing guitar for about 15 years. Im addicted to acoustic guitar and stripped down music. When I hear an acoustic song with heart it gets me. When I play certain songs, it takes me to different places. And I'm not ashamed to say I've teared up while playing before.

There’s literally a rapper named MIMS (acronym for “Music is my savior”). Had an awesome song on Madden 08 named “Cop it”. Absolutely sick beat.
