Didn't China claim they thought they found it with one of their satellites? One of my professors mentioned it briefly today but I haven't been following the plane thing at all. I didn't even know it crashed/went missing until two days ago.

Did any of the 239 people on the plane have phones? I would imagine all but maybe a couple did. I understand the difficulties of making contact with someone under the circumstances. However, unless something happened in an instant destroying the plane I don't see how not one of the passengers couldn't have contacted anyone or thing while the hijacking, etc. was underway.

Thinking the same thing CGI. The fact that is is not pinging at all is very strange.

Okay...

It's far fetched. How do you hijack and land a big plane like this?

But this is weird. It flew further than the last known position? The transponders aren't working? It's missing.

Hmm?

A plane in the hands of terrorists is a conspirest dream.

It's possible that if they don't KNOW where it is ,then it could have been hijacked and stolen.

The article says the pilots home is under police surveillance but not search yet ,maybe they think he was in on whatever happened ,dunno.

Who does?

Anything is possible, but the least likely is that the plane and all aboard have been hijacked and are actually hidden somewhere. If I believed that was what happened,,, and I was involved in the search,,, I'd start looking in Pakistan first.

I believe the plane went down. How it happened may not ever be known.

Exactly! Why did no one try to contact a friend or family member. The talking heads on CNN have never approached that question. I am sure someone had a satellite phone that would have been capable. I heard one theory that there was a gradual or sudden decompression that left both pilots unconscious and everyone passed out, but that does not answer why the transponder was turned off. It is baffling....o_O

Another cause for concern: our news media stated that there were a couple of stolen/faked passports on that plane. That always makes me think of terrorist activity.

The record of a missing plane is ten days I think. This plane will break that record.

Just read a report saying that a search plane in the Vietnam area thinks they spotted one of the 777's doors floating. Apparently near an area where oil slicks have been recently seen. The report said that darkness was hampering confirmation right now.

Oh heck CGI, much simpler explanation bro. The Bermuda triangle got tired of it's current home so relocated over to that part of the Pac ;)

Just heard on CNN from a pilot that if the plane went to 45,000 feet, it was probably to kill most of the passengers. Could someone have hijacked the 777 to use as a weapon later? That is scary...

Uggg this whole thing is awful because its being bounced around as a terrorist act and that it might have landed and maybe could have been stolen.

Yuck this is horrible.

Trying to use it as a weapon later makes no sense. First, where do you hide it? Second how do you refuel it? Third how do you maintain it? Finally how do you get it to your target without being shot down well in advance. A "lost" plane suddenly flying towards a major city is going to attract attention.

Makes zero sense.

Not if you camouflage it sky blue with clouds and fly it really high.

Dont you watch TV? You are supposed to fly really LOW to avoid radar.

I would be interested to see the occupations of all the folks on the flight manifest. We are looking for the remains over in the IO as reports show it flew west before it was lost and it appears all communications were shut off at differing times. So the curious side of me has to wonder could a Chinese national who has info the west could use or has been using been aboard that flight? I have to wonder as it would make a awesome extraction story of a CIA ran op to bring a defector in. Slip two operatives aboard under suspect passports somehow missed. They fly the plane to the military base in Diego Garcia unload the true cargo they want. Fly the plane to another spot unload the passengers and another week or so we find the wreckage and then through a tip find the missing passengers at some abandoned terrorist camp. Don't think that is the case, but would sure be a awesome way to pull off a defection. Odds are it crashed or was sabotaged so again the passenger manifest right now I am sure is being looked over with a fine tooth comb to see if what or any light it can shed. I would not rule out a hijacking, but so far no groups has stepped up to say yea we did that which most of the time is the case so they can use the public media for their advantage to strike fear.
