Snead doing his due diligence. If there's a player still left on the board in round 3+ who has the talent to be a starter next year, don't pass on them.

If he is anything he is thorough. That's how he has been able to find the street free agents that he has had such an eye for.

You are correct, if he thinks he can get a guy who will be starting by his second year he'll pull the trigger.

If they do choose a Safety with their first choice, be it in round 1 or 2, I'd like all the safeties to be available, just to see which one they really preferred.

But, I don't think they go Safety first. A good safety could be found a bit later.

very interesting outlook....

right now our ILBs are Kiser and Littleton...with Traven Howard....being a back up for Littleton's spot..with Littleton being the back up for Kiser.... so ideally in the draft you'd want to get a more stout ILB more like Kiser...

and that is a spot you could get in the later rounds.....

with Marquis Christian being our back up safety.... who I think the team likes, and has made some plays...but with Weddle's age..it's not going to hurt to look towards another safety at some point...

If we are taking a safety in the second/third round, I'd love to have Taylor Rapp.

Rams are ready to take one, you can see they did their diligence. When, who knows, but it's definitely a position they're focusing on which is smart. This game is trending more and more to passing and the DBs in general are going to see a commensurate trend in teams coveting them.

Guys who have ball skills especially. Coverage too, the guys who can stick at least a bit on TEs as safeties without pulling and dragging on them, and at CB the guys who can stick and play the ball. Guaranteed trend IMO.

Snead has always been able to find safety's in the mid rds. No way he takes a S in Rd1 or Rd2. Need a big nasty linemen 1st. prefer DT but my gut says the value won't much 31 and we love a OG (Lindstrom/Risner) or trade back a bit

Mark Barron was an ex-safety, I wonder if they would look for a big safety that could possibly play at ILB this year,

It's possible they're considering doing that, building their next LB from one of the most aggressive SS types. If so and they trade down into round two guy like Abram comes into consideration.

That only makes sense to me if the guy can also be a top notch nickel corner. Other than that, safety seems like one of the easier positions to fill.

I agree we need db depth but like others said..if they stay at 31 they can draft a Starter.

Well ironically nickel corners are a dime a dozen (pun intended looool). Look at what a bad@ss NRC is and then how little we're payin him. It's where the corners that can't cut it outside end up so it's never a thing teams are hard up for.

Safeties that can play up near the LOS, the run support types, are easy to find too tbh. But if a team is hard up for improvement in run defense and really like a guy's makeup (for example in Abram's case he's a vicious and competitive MFer) then maybe he's got more value to them who knows. Just agreeing that it's possible.

What is hard to find at safety is the guys who can do it all. Who can range deep or come up and be a sure stopper, and eradicate a TE on a key down. THAT is what I think the Rams want, but again who knows they tend to throw us a curveball every draft so we might get one early.

Yeah. I've read some scout reports that project Abram as a big nickle. And the Rams did bring him in for a visit.

I think a Safety is very probable, with our first pick, based on visits, and interest.
