As for my dinner companions:
Abraham Lincoln: I've spent a lot of time studying history and loved one book in particular by Doris Kearns Goodwin, "Team of Rivals," I feel as though I know Mr Lincoln from reading that book. I would enjoy to know the man.

Charles Dickens: He was a gifted writer and a very perceptive person.

Mark Twain: Great writer and humorist. I think life turned him into a cynical misanthrope, but extremely funny. I think talking with him might b a little dangerous because he had a sharp tongue to go along with a sharp mind.

So pick your three and tell us why!

I wouldn't want to have dinner with anyone other than my partner and either her or my family.
 
For me ... George Carlin, Catherine the Great and the Horse she is alleged to have had sex with.

Catherine because I would want to ask ... Was it True? ... Why? and How was that even possible?

The Horse because I would be curious whether he remembered her, or was it just a one-night-stand.

Carlin (great talent and really interesting man) because he would be terrific to talk with; and, just in case Catherine and the Horse leave the table for a quickie.

By the way, it's a fun question. For me, it would be three great minds from different points in history.

Say, Socrates, Isaac Newton and Einstein. I would want to know their thoughts about the state-of-the-world and mankind ... the Good and Bad; and their thoughts about the future.

My grandmother when my father was five years old. "Grandma, that is not some normal cough. Get him seen now! Otherwise he will end up completely deaf and live in a time where hiring the handicap was not seen as a good thing. He'll end up spending his whole life pressing clothes at a dry cleaner. He could go on to great things if he isn't deaf".
