I do not know the advantages/disadvantages of this - but a regular season half-time is 13 minutes.
The Super-bowl extravaganza break, is about 30 minutes.

Question - who does this benefit, if anyone? Is there a benefit?

It benefits the League with increased advertising revenue, those commercials are relentless. It's a good time to hit the buffet, ... or your favorite female friend if she's amenable. :biggrin:

No way I sit and listen to the half time "Rap-fest". I'll use that time for bathroom break, get more chips and guac and refill my mug.

It benefits defenses and linemen. More time to rest and adjust their game plans.

We will have several guests so a few of them will watch the half time entertainment, myself, never was much for halftime as a player, coach or fan. I'm with @bubbaramfan with partaking in some more eats, utilize the facility and continue to enjoy my fine Single Malt Beverage, doing my part as I get ready for the 2nd half.
