So going snow boarding in the morning, been skiing before but never boarding. Any of you dudes got advice for me? Will be interesting reading anything you have before I hit the slopes
Good Night GIF

As a beginner, if you panic, did your heels in. That is how you will stop yourself.

Never been, but learning to stop seems critical!
Good luck... most of my kids have survived it!

How old are you? If you're 40+ I apologize in advance. Use your heel side mostly until you get your balance. About half day in you'll start using your toe edge which is harder. Once you get the hang of using your toe and heel together you'll see it's actually pretty easy. Getting off the chair is a whole other game tho! Lol

Where you headed?

Going out on a limb here - but if you have ever done wakeboarding - it seems to be a complimentary sport. In high school, one of my kids, strapped on the wakeboard and then got on the trampoline to learn to do flips - for both wakeboarding and snowboarding.

So far, he has managed to make it to 41 yrs old.... :wow2:

Just like skiing.
Stay relaxed, confident and aggressive.
Passive and stiff don’t work on snow and ice.

As others have mentioned, stay weighted on your heel side until you start feeling comfortable. Otherwise you will earn yourself a couple of my screen names, haha.

Hope you have some powder where you're going. Snowboarding (and skiing) suck so bad on hard pack and ice. I broke 4 vertebrae snowboarding 20 years ago in shitty, icy conditions. Never again.

I'm 44, I been skiing quite a bit in my life but it's been about 15 years tbh. Skied Santa Fe.

Haha thanks for all the responses and advice!

Headed to Santa Fe and worked well into the afternoon where I hunkered down in the bar and drank the rest of the day! lol The rest of the young bastards I went with were professionals doing flips and all this dumb shit. I did decent but it makes zero sense mentally to me with your legs locked in! lol Totally more used to having independent skies and being able to be a bit more maneuverable in a close proximity.

Also, let me know I need to get my dumb ass in the gym again. Slipping a bit and at the end of the day before the bar it was getting hard to get myself up. lol

Man I miss being fucking young... it's a sad thing seeing your body naturally degenerate over time. fml
