It looks slower/weaker than it did the first 5 games.

Kurt Warner said his got weaker during hte 19999 from all the hits....also he was throwing from the side more....think Goff may have something similar going on....

Of course, I must be wrong, again :)

Still waiting on him filling out actually I'm quite envious, can't imagine being able to eat and not having to log many miles on the treadmill or cross country....Overall, it makes sense, but I'm hoping they keep him clean on Sunday.

People cant perform at peak levels all of the time.

We know what Jared can do and we will need it when it matters.

off topic, but Jareds throw to Cooks on the sideline was maybe his best play this season imo

Goff throws with varied velocities. This is a fantastic quality.

Some QBs don't really have that kind of touch... cough, cough, Bradford,... and can only throw at full throttle. Remember the 120 mph screen passes?

The best speed is the speed that allows you to execute perfectly. Perfect Speed!

May be slow sometimes; fast others.

Note: Perfect Speed is a concept from my martial arts training. I didn't come up with it.

You mean like the one that split open Danny A's hand? Yeah... Bradford could sling it but it seemed he needed to show everyone how hard he could throw it rather than how catchable of a ball he could throw.

Goff has gotten beaten up a little in the past couple of games. The Rams are tightlipped about this stuff but it was enough for x-rays, which Goff joked about. So maybe some hit could have gotten to him a little bit.

Just noticed a commentator the other day stating however that Goff has one of the strongest arms in the league. I wouldn't quarrel with that but early on many talking heads seem to have thought otherwise. It shows that, like the "system qb" nonsense, some of the inaccurate perceptions of Goff are finally wearing off in the face of his great passing and outstanding overall play.

Goff's Dad played catcher in MLB... his ability to throw has been there probably before he was even born, but his Pops got him throwing at a very young age.

He was born to throw!

It has a lot to do with the types of throws he's throwing. Earlier in the season when playing teams like the Vikings he had more opportunities for harder and tighter throws, but the games we've player lately the defenses are playing us different, and as a smart quarterback should, he's making the appropriate adjustments. Be careful not to confuse long throws with hard throws, as long throws are easier.

I haven't noticed that personally. As others have so brilliantly mentioned, Goff throws exactly how hard he SHOULD throw depending on the route/WR.

Goff could be a bit sore but it could also have been very short term from something that happened during that game. I remember during combine that his release was clocked at a higher speed than Wentz or Rodgers. Doesn't mean that he throws harder or it arrives with more pace. It is a pretty good indicator of overall velocity. I say it was from a recent play or maybr some lingering injuries.

Jared was a catcher in high school as well....as was Brady, and many other quarterbacks that played multi-sports earlier in their sports experience. We Norcal Catholic school catchers stick together.

But seriously, I think it is a natural crossover. Catchers need a quick release, throwing down to second, (admittedly, a different throwing style sometimes) and are more considered the leader on the field in baseball, rather than the pitcher. I'd be curious to know how many NFL successful quarterbacks were catchers.

I played catcher too... making that throw to 2nd when a runner was trying to steal required a quick release if you wanted to throw him out. Maybe the 2 aren't so different in that respect.

*One of my good friends pitched in the MLB for years. Jared's Dad was his catcher when they were both starting out in the minors.
