Just to clarify...

LaFleur was with the Rams in 2017, but was the Titans OC in 2018...

...so Rams haven’t lost any assistant coaches this year (yet)

I know. I hope most people here would too.

I was just shocked that his rise to to head of the GREEN BAY PACKERS is faster than McVays.
not freak as in bad but freak as in WOW lol

Packers to hire Titans OC Matt LaFleur as coach, sources say

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers will hire Matt LaFleur to be their next head coach, sources told ESPN.

LaFleur spent last season as the Tennessee Titans' offensive coordinator and previously worked under Sean McVay for the Los Angeles Rams and Kyle Shanahan with the Atlanta Falcons.

WOW... looks like everyone is looking for the new younger generation of HC's - hats off to LaFleur on his meteoric rise - just goes to show McVay knows how to build a team of coaches...

Seems like a good landing spot for someone like LaFleur.

Aaron Rodgers makes them an every year contender.

Patient spot for a HC from a stability perspective. He shouldn't get caught up in knee jerk oversight by ownership, etc.

There isnt going to be the next mcvay ,,, guys a freak at coaching

not sure wether this is a good hire (in terms of being too early ) ... any OC that comes here is OC in name only ,,they dont call the plays its Mcvays offense ..not sure mcfluer has the chops ... we shall see

I posted this yesterday and it got deleted lol

But I can’t believe he’s gotten two huge promotions in two years. Never being a coordinator in the NFL before this season and having a below average offense for one season gets you a HC job? I know the coaching pool is weak right now but wow. Everyone is looking for the next big thing, literally taking shots in the dark

Packers GM: So you once were a coach under Sean Mcvay?

Lafleur: Uh.... Yea.

Packers GM: Welcome to your new job as head coach of the Green Bay Packers.

Better than hiring retreads.

I won't disagree, but McDaniels seemed like a good match because of his history dealing with a Veteran QB Superstar and again, I felt LaFleur needed more experience calling plays because he's only done it one year, however, I would have given him a shot over Adam Gase if that was the other option.

I'm betting on Mike Pettine staying on as defensive coordinator.

It will be interesting to see if LaFluer becomes a top coach and Vrabel keeps being good but not playoff good.

Tennessee passed up LaFluer for head coach.

This hire seems like desperation to me. I don't hate LaFleur, but our success in 2017 was due to McVay and not him. Titans didn't even make the playoffs this year, and he gets a HC job? wow.

Good for him, hope he makes it work. Personally, I'm not sure how I'd feel as a Packers fan. Being a Rams fan, we probably know more about him than they do. The reality is he didn't call plays with the Rams, and although he did some good things with the Titans, a little more consistency at that job would've made me feel more comfortable hiring him (i.e. 2-3 years on the resume, getting the Titans into a top 10 offense, into the playoffs, etc.). But I wish him the best of luck. I certainly saw some McVay creativity from the Titans a few times I had watched them play.

I'm kinda thinking they didn't hire LaFleur to work with Aaron Rodgers specifically - rather, they brought him in to draft and develop Rodgers' eventual successor. Sure they'll get a few more years out of #12.
