I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere...but, was there ever an explanation of the off-setting penalties on the fake punt? the game announcers did not mention it at all but showed both McVay and DeCamillis highly upset on the sideline....

They never even showed what the penalties were for on the broadcast. Was weird, they showed McVey and DeCamillis mad for like 25 seconds, but never showed what they were mad about. Kind of a big penalty for there to be no replay.

It was strange too that the flags came after the completion and first down. For a play like that on 4th down I was blown away that they didn't replay it.

I'm not a, "Its the refs fault" kinda guy, but this has been multiple games across the NFL that the Refs have altered the outcome with crappy calls/none cals.

McVay was not happy with the explanation he got from the refs, said so in the post game presser basically saying he better not talk about it if he doesn't want a fine in the mailbox.

Just speculating here, I wonder if the signal our receiver put up was interpreted as a "taunting", and they didn't want to admit the ridiculousness of it.

The flag was out before the play was over so the explanation was bogus from the get.

Another referee faux pas that screwed the Rams.

There were several mystery calls that Schlereck was calling out. The ref on the Rams sideline obviously had an attitude.

Initially the call was two unsportsmanlike penalties on each side.

Then a bit later someone mentioned that the one on the Rams could have been because the refs felt that Skowronek was trying to look like he was not a part of the play pre-snap and was trying to trick the defense. I'm not sure how they got that idea, since he was waving his arms while standing on the field.

As far as I know there isn't any such penalty. If there is then there should be no more flea flickers, Statue of Liberty, Double reverse or fake spikes allowed.

It was total BS imo.

from what I am reading, it might be because Skow was too close (within 5 yards) of the Rams bench, but by the video above that doesnt seem to be the case

edit: still doesnt explain the offsetting penalties
