Jaguars' Justin Blackmon exits sideline after jawing with Dolphins player

JACKSONVILLE (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Justin Blackmon was escorted from the field following a heated argument with Miami Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll in the second quarter.

Blackmon sat out the preseason game Friday night while recovering from groin surgery, but he was on the sideline in street clothes when he started jawing with Carroll. It was unclear who or what prompted the verbal tiff.

The exchange intensified to the point where Jaguars coach Gus Bradley got involved.

Running back Maurice Jones-Drew stepped in, calmed Blackmon down and escorted him to the locker room.

Regardless of the circumstances, it's certainly not an ideal situation for Blackmon. The receiver is suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. The suspension stems from two alcohol-related arrests in the past three years.

Now, Blackmon's trying to show he's matured.

Blackmon returned to the sideline to start the second half. He approached Bradley, and the two hugged it out before the third quarter began.

Well I didn't want us to draft him but that was based on what he brought to the position and not his attitude. Now I'm doubly glad they "snatched" him from our grasps. :bg:

Thought he was overrated prior to the draft and he's done nothing to change my mind.

Many were down on Michael Floyd due to off the field character stuff and didn't want to hear about Blackmon's issues. To them, Floyd had major problems, while Blackmon just made a mistake or two. 8-)

Well... I just posted this in another thread;

The knock on Blackmon before the draft was mostly about his ability to separate, less about his off the field stuff.

His final 7 games last year in yardage; 236, 62, 9, 57, 93, 79, 79 and 4 TD's. This projects to over 1400yds and 9 TDS... with who at QB?

So, again... his main critique (getting separation) sort of looks bunk over those final 7 games as a rookie. The jury is out, but this remains a potentially very good player.

If he can stop finding the bottom of the bottle, he will be a stud wr. Last year he was a stud, and maybe he was drunk on the sideline and had to go sober up, lol.

Actually X , no BS here, the eyes are the window to the soul, and I NEVER liked the look of his eyes, NEVER, he looks like an alcoholic to me,always has.

I liked him. He wasn't on the AJ Green level, but he has good physical tools. I think he will get it all back on track.

Can't speak for the mostly, but my main issues with a Blackmon selection was his deep speed, character, and draft value at #6.

BTW, those numbers might mean something if he were in man coverage on every play or the team ran no plays/formations to rub defenders off and get him open. Chad Henne is a decent QB. And I'd throw out the high number and the low number when making a projection.

That's fair.

The 236 certainly inflates the projection.

But the rest averages around 75yds/gm which as a rookie is pretty solid in my book.
