just thinking. With McVay implementing his offense, and calling the plays on gameday, what role is really required of OC? Maybe this is one of those chances for McVay to teach and get that offensive coordinator tree planted...

The OC isn't an empty position, even if McVay calls plays. You want someone who is capable of running the offense in practice and meetings. You want someone who can help with play design, gameplanning, and scripting plays. You want someone who can amplify your weak points as a coach. And most of all, you want someone who can take over the playcalling if it gets to be too much to do it with your HC duties.

I wouldn't trust Boras to coordinate colors, much less this offense. McVay needs someone he can trust to possibly handle this offense in the future.

Agreed, Boras is not capable. You want someone who can take the reins if need be. Whether or not Fisher failed to lead a team. He apparently failed in rounding up a successful staff. Bones, and Singletary are exceptions..

OC will still play an important roll.
Helping to prep the O and implement the game plan week to week. Having the HC calls the plays may limit who wants the OC gig. Someone from Washington makes sense as the OC would need a good understanding of McVeys offense.
Seeing as Boras seemed to struggle with an understanding of the Boras offense I would say no f***ing way.

Well.... He has earned it after all..

Interesting thought. Sounds like you're suggesting McVay can take this time to mold his own progeny. Boras is still kinda young and has some familiarity with the players and what they can do, so maybe people have read far enough into this reply that it seems I'm on board when in reality I think this is the worst idea since New Coke. I summarily reject this notion and hope your future ideas are exclusive of Rob Boras in their entirety.

Boras seems like a good guy. Heck, there are many coaches on the Fisher staff I like, and certainly capable coaches.

Unfortunately, to shift the mindset of a team, these are the kind of changes you have to make.

Our players need to be saturated with "winning" influences. While leftover coaches are highly successful winners, the message needs to be new and forward focused.

Hell No ! I don't think anyone on offense wants to play for this guy, Gurley was rolling his eyes all year and Goff almost got killed.

Erm, I think not. Nothing against him personally, but we need to create a different culture from the top down. I'm happy that Fassel is retained, our ST's have performed to an extremely high standard with him at the helm, why fix something that wasn't broken. It's upgrades we needed not sidesteps.

I want an upgrade at OC. We deserve an upgrade, if Boras is retained in this position this would be a big disappointment.
