Yes, Comm - anders is a boring name (and I want the mods to know that I am upset that said word is automatically turned into "commodes" when it's a common word. I've been saying this in every thread, so I just want to ask if you're listening.), but I disagree. I just disagree with this name. Just name them the Red Hogs. Unique, similar color scheme, and it's a nice callback to their past glory.

If I owned them I would change the name to "Command" and change the colors to Army green & white. Got nothing but respect for Native Americans, and if they are behind the team going back to the old name I think that's fine and all. But then down the road this shit might flare up again based on human stupidity and cultural shift, so I'd move on from it permanently if I was the owner.

Go to a Indian Reservation with a cultural event happening on a hot day. You will see Redskin tats on many young men when their shirts come off.
Generally 1/3 of us are woke and against it. The other 3rd likes the Redskins name and the last 3rd does not care one way or the other.
Bring it back. Call the Cleveland baseball team THE INDIANS but get rid of their old mascot.
I want to see the whole woke nonsense go down the drain.
Its already starting to happen.
Everything is not 'racist".
It was a giant mistake caving into the pressure.

This was a case of people getting offended for Native Americans without their support. If I remember correctly, the Redskin s logo was approved by natives from which the logo came. Let the next expansion team be called the "Pale Faces." I give my permission, if that matters!
lol
But the answer is YES from me.

I believe that is the problem; it’s in the eye of the beholder. Most individuals are too naive to ask Native Americans for their preference and will generally listen to the flavor of the month, which moaned for a name change.

In CA, a law was passed where all Native related mascots must have Tribal support for continued use in the next couple of years.

The prob is simply this emphasis on being a victim. When PC culture moves too far and gets too much power the result is everyone trying to be a bigger victim, since that becomes the sole win strategy.

I mean look at Alexander the Great. He liked dick. Was he a victim. No. He was a fucking badass.

I'm sure there are all sorts of historical tribal stories - some good, some indifferent and some bad... But my recent experience with the locals here has been great.

How do you be a good neighbor - well one way is to give back to the community and they do that in spades. I am aware many folks are down on the gambling attraction - -but, as I see it, it is purely voluntary. There is no need to gamble, if you just want a decent meal out, also.

Back to the giving back aspect - the tribe gives back to local non-profits, local government and NGO's - probably to the tune of several million per year. They have supported local food banks and even delivered a fire truck to a fire district. Priced one of them lately? HA!

Above all the property is welcoming and in good design. They provide jobs in construction, gaming, food and security services. Good business attracts more businesses - to that end, a Costco just opened and soon there will be several other eating establishments including a brew pub and some fast food places, like an In-N-Out burger (despised by a few, heralded by many). So, after not having a quality restaurant within 10 miles of us - we now have several within 2 miles. The way I see it - they rejuvenated the local economy, which is something government claims they are for - but have never adequately delivered on that promise. (One can say that gaming takes money from people - but they are pikers compared to government!)!

We have met many that work there, and several tribal members. Our experience has been positive and we appreciate the huge investment they make back into the community.

I like 'em!

If the native Americans get a vote and they decide it can be the redskins then by all means, change the name back. And move the chargers back to San Diego while they are at it. Go rams!

I invite Native American leaders and discuss. Whatever name and mascot is approved is fine with me, just keep the Native American relative.

I will admit that I did like the “Washington Football Team” quite a bit. It had a throwback simplicity that sounded cool.
