I did up until a couple years ago. Four older guys finally retired but it was a great spot. Shave with hot cream and a straight edge. Prices were simple $13 for a haircut, $30 if your hair is hippy length and $50 for a hair styling. Always gook for a quick drink of whiskey as well.

I have off and on for years. Unfortunately where I live there is not one in town.

But, I prefer a barber cut and like chatting with a good barber.

Nope. My stylist is the only person who cuts my hair.
I've gone through several people (including barbers) and nobody cuts my hair like the guy I use in NC.
I drive 3 hours to get to there - once a month.

Yeah I do but he is a really good barber. $17 bucks out the door. There are normally 4 or 5 guy's waiting but it's a fun place. A real Norman Rockwell small town shop.

I used to. Hurricane Sandy flooded the strip mall where my barber shop was located. Gus decided he was done and never reopened.

I do. A guy I went to high school with opened a barber shop. I love the idea of supporting a local business. It's the total BS atmosphere; we all talk shit to each other and talk about whatever. I love it.

Years ago I would. My barber had a shop in the basement of a home converted to commercial use, where he would shoot the shit with people, and would give great haircuts for a few dollars in a few minutes. But he was only open half the year - he'd close during hunting season, and spent part of the year as a commercial fisherman in Alaska where he would earn his money for the year, and spend the rest of the time socializing with friends and cutting hair amazingly well.

Now I go to a place called Sports Clips, where attractive women do a good job, and then take me into the back, shampoo my hair, and give me a scalp massage. I go at lunch when I've had a bad morning at work, "for a hair cut" when it's really for the scalp massage. And before anybody is dirty minded, ONLY a scalp massage.

We got a place like that called Knockouts (yes it's exactly what you think it's like). Plus you get a free beer. I think, never went there. Haircuts are effin expensive. I go to Great Clips when I have a coupon.

A hair cut, what's that? My barber here in Cumberland, MD retired in the late 90's and I haven't had a barber type hair cut since. The wife clips off a bit every six months or so and that's it. This guy was a piece of work. An ex-Marine with a crew cut who used to curse and rant and rave about politics while cutting hair.

My wife owns her own salon... so I have no other option, and it's almost impossible for me to get an appointment. Ha. I'm serious.

I get my shit faded every 2 weeks. And I do get more than a scalp massage and a beer btw!

Long ago I had a woman that had cut my hair for several years. Nearly a decade.

One day I walk into the place..........and she was gone, moved out of town last minute because her boyfriend of many years got a great job offer and they had to go right away.

I walked out and sat in my car and said "what the fuck do I do now".

I've never been loyal since LOL.

Fade Kings in Monterey Park CA. Johnny is the best but it's $30 with appt minus the tip. I pay because I would have to wait at least 3 hours for a haircut

I get similar perks from my stylist. Or is it that my stylist gets similar perks as yours? Oh well 6 to 1......

The barber shop is alive and well in my neck of the woods. With a few exceptions. The true barber with the hot towels, straight razor, and smell of barbasol is getting harder and harder to find. The young guys pretty much just do cuts. If you want a shave it will be with a bic. But the atmosphere of local gossip and sech is the same. Prices are 5 to 10 dollars with more for add ons. Shave, beard trim etc. Plus tip. But what ever you do don't ask for a style and cut or cut and style. They may direct you to the ladies salon a few doors down.
