Well, he was a head coach prior to joining McVay.
He's more a product of learning at the Atlanta falcons franchise than McVay. IMO.
What does being a head coach prior have to do with it?
He spent 3 years under McVay, who’s to say he gets another shot without that?
So a guy like LaFleur counts even though he only spent 1 year on the staff, left to take a lateral move to work with Vrabel before getting a HC gig.
Morris basically was an interim HC before earning the HC gig in Atlanta. Thanks in part to working for Mc Vay

Why do some rain on this parade because of semantics.

All the above are from the McVay HC tree!!!

Suck it Trebek.

I was honestly questioning if McVay's head was in it earlier this year, wondering if the league had caught up to him and he made be ready to move away from it for awhile.

I was terribly wrong, and will never question him again. Sometimes his playcalling is maddening, but I doubt ANY coach could have done the job he did this year. The guys just buy into his kool-aid and it's amazing to see.

You got to be impressed with Kyle Shanahan’s coaching tree too. It’s massive.

How do you figure that?

Morris replaced Gruden prior to the 2009 season, and was the head coach for three seasons.
Gruden was set to be the coach and Morris was going to be DC when Kiffin left.

It was a stretch, he was hired to be DC then promoted to HC when Gruden got fired.
Tbh, I thought Gruden was fired later in the off season.

OK but I think "interim" is by definition ... temporary. No big deal.
